Sorry to post a Scott Gilfoid article, but I thought the mention this as I hear Bob Arum revealed this at the post fight presser for Rios-Alvaro II. I hope it happens as I can't stand Macklin and he has no chance here.
Macklin will get seriously hurt if this fight happens.

he seems pretty down to earth and honest to me
and yeah, he would be a massive underdog, i wouldnt completely write him off tho as he is a step up for Golovkin
He is full of his own self importance and has dilusions of grandeur. He recently said on Sky's Ringside show that he didn't want to fight Barker or Murray as he is 'levels' above them. He mentioned this levels thing after the Elcock fight too. He also seems to think he can be disrespectful to other fighters as long as he says 'no disrespect' before starting it.Quote:

he said he was currently ranked higher than them, which he is
and after the elcock fight i remember him saying boxing is about levels (which it is) and he was at a higher level than elcock which he proved that he was
The funniest thing about Macklin is the way he turned into a full blown Irishman. I remember when he was English ;D
This is basically what bugs me. He's average and he thinks he's the best in the world. He said after he beat Elcock he'd beat any Middleweight outside of the top 3. This is after beating Wayne Elcock. Wayne Elcock! Elcock was/is a decent domestic level fighter but Macklin spoke about it as if he destroyed a guy that would've made Marvin hagler cry at the mear site of him.Quote:

Eddie Hearn explaining why he wouldn't put Darren Barker in with Gennady Golovkin. Credit to him is he being blatantly honest.
If Macklin takes this fight he will definitely beat SLEEPING BEAUTIES record for the longest sleep.
I like Macklin and he gave a great performance against Sergio. He is a local Brummie and deserves our respect.
Their styles will mesh together well. The fight itself, will be short and violent :box3:
Macklin is about evens wih Barker there's no evidence to suggest otherwise than maybe Macklin has had a couple of tougher fights and shown he can dig in when needed.
Murray hasn't done a lot since Sturm, that result may have flattered him, I think Sturm might have thought he was in for an easier nights work.
Will see where Muray is at compared to the others after Martinez, and in my opinion Martinez has started to show some signs of being past his peak (no disrespect, it has to happen)
Barker and Macklin need to hurry up and cash in with a massive UK fight.
If GGG beats Macklin with ease, he'll finally merit his lofty ranking because Macklin is a legitimate top ten middleweight, although I must say, with Barker, Macklin etc., Kid Chocolate appears an easier mark than GGG.
