Unfortunate boxing comments.
Just read something and I childishly pissed myself laughing. I decided there should be a thread readily available to people who hear stuff and decide they need to share the comedy or stupidity with everyone else lol. Get this thread sticky.
Calzaghe on his 2004 fight in Scotland with Kabary Salem
"The Scottish crowd got right behind me, they gave me a good backing."
And of course Iron Mike
"I guess I'll just fade into Bolivian"
Don't judge my childishness lol.

Re: Unfortunate boxing comments.
Can someone please refresh my memory. In the last year (or so), a well knwon fighter claimed after the fight that he was pissed the referee stopped the fight too early when what happened was that he didn't beat the referee's 10 count?
Anyone remember which moron that was?

That's one of the things I don't keep track of. It's usually more of a face saving thing than than a real protest.
It doesn't matter if he's on his feet anyway, the referee can stop the fight if he doesn't look ready to go.
Were you being sarcastic? I just rolled out of bed, should have had coffee my coffee first.

The only guy I remember doing that was Marlon Starling.

Re: Unfortunate boxing comments.
First one that comes to mind is Tyron trice standing ring center after destroying Carl Sullivan and saying Gerald McClellan didn't have any heart...then he talked shit about Toney who promply came out of the crowd, climbed into the ring and almost made Trice shit himself and quickly stfu :-X

Re: Unfortunate boxing comments.
How about Anthony Mundine saying that America was "asking for it" after the 9/11 attacks. Not funny, but definitely unfortunate.
-
Re: Unfortunate boxing comments.
Remember McNealy saying he would wrap Tyson up in a hurricane or cacoon of whatever and got battered for his troubles.
Audley promised so much against Haye and only threw 1 meaningful punch.

hahaha fuckin Audley it never ends !
"Hurricane" was Peter's nickname. I believe his nursery rhyme was that he'd wrap Tyson in a caccoon.
Gotta hand it to the mental bastard he did charge Mike like a glass chinned bat outta hell.

I think the phrase was "I'm going to wrap Tyson up in a cocoon of horrors!"...lolololol...
;D
.. and I just posted this vid in my thread on Larry Holmes reign as champion and his post Spinks fight press conference. LOL!
"Rocky Marciano couldn't carry my jock-straps"...and "tell the folks to put DA TROOF in da machine".... hahhahhaha.... Larry talkin about computer generated simulations of fights.
;D

I'll never forget the way McNeeley charged at Tyson. I remember admiring him for it, but having a feeling that it wasn't likely to end well for him.
-
It was funny after tyson dropped him and he did a backwards sprint around the ring and the ref was chasing him to give him his mandatory 8 count
-
Re: Unfortunate boxing comments.
Tony Galento saying he had never heard of Joe Louis and saying he would Murder him.
Didn't end well.

Re: Unfortunate boxing comments.
I think Holmes and the Rocky Jockstrap comment is something he regrets. It certainly alienated him in the boxing community.
Ali and the vile comments against Fraizier probably are another as well as his allegiance to the nation of Islam spaceship going to take us rubbish too.

Imagine if Jerry Quarry had said what Ali said against Fraizer?

That would be racist but if jerry said something derogatory about another white fighter that would insulting which is what Ali was against Frazier.

I disagree, I think there is no such thing as racism.
If I were to call another white man a n#*%#r, would that be racist? No. I don't consider words to be racist. I refuse to judge people on skin.
Maybe it's just me but if you're a prick, you're a prick, skin colour doesn't dictate your prickiness.

I think Earnie Terrel regrets calling Muhamed Ali Cassius Clay!

Haye after beating Audley. He basically went on a rant saying how he knew it was going to be over in round 2 and him and all his family had made substantial bets on that round and he had made them all a lot of money.
That would have been fine, had it not been for the rules regarding match fixing and betting.
Haye's team then spent a week convincing everyone that Haye was an idiot that chats rubbish so that he didn't get in trouble.

Only a white man could think there is no such thing as racism, but seeing as you don't believe it exists you won't be offended by such an observation.

Not at all, I am a white man.
But don't confuse me as someone trying to "pretend" that racism doesn't exist, or that it embarrasses me. In my mind it doesn't. Sadness to you if you've been a victim of it, death to you if you victimize people racially.
But honestly, I have more important shit to think about than 2 pricks of different race calling each other names.

Re: Unfortunate boxing comments.
True racism is made up and socially constructed as we are all the same underneath but it has the power to degrade, insult, victimise, oppress, discriminate, crucify and kill by these ignorant people.

Racism is not made up. Santa Claus is made up. Racism and the vocabulary of a racist has the power to instill fear and breed ignorance, get laws passed, divide, and as this nation sees even today..get people killed.
Back to topic and btw, I remember Bert Cooper being interviewed on HBO and saying "no more ESPN fights for me, they can kiss my black butt" or words to that effect. After Moorer knocked him out he was back on ESPN and said "Well, ooops".
-
Re: Unfortunate boxing comments.
Famous last words from Cooper, he would loved to be on ESPN but spent all his money doing drugs.
-
Re: Unfortunate boxing comments.
How about Anthony Mundine saying that Sven Ottke hits like a woman. Ooops

Haye doin the Harlem shake in a thong was hilarious as well.
And of course another Haye related incident:
"He fuckin glassed me !" ;D;D;D

Wlad saying that Pianeta is getting a shot because "he's hungry for a world title."
REALLy? Me too, can I have a shot?

Re: Unfortunate boxing comments.
Degale telling Groves he wasn't in his league, saying to Groves face that he'd finish him in 4 rounds and even offering up his 55% purse against Groves 45% purse so that the winner would go home with 100%.
Frank Warren telling the British media that if Maccarinelli didn't beat Haye he'd retire from Boxing.
I read the other day that Bob Arum said that Terence Crawford would "beat the shit" out of Adrien Broner. What is he smoking?

?
The problem with this for me is that he lost.
If he wins, half the moron boxing fans I know would love him, even the ones who hate him now after that fight.
He got dropped back to earth QUICK and hasn't risen back up yet in my book.
-
Re: Unfortunate boxing comments.
Warren promised that he would quit promoting if Enzo lost to Haye.
-
Re: Unfortunate boxing comments.
He called me a rapist and a recluse, I am not a recluse.
^Tyson on Lennox.
