Are we ever going to have a unified champion of boxing ever again?

... well, can we?

Wlad can't do it at heavyweight because he doesn't want to fight his brother. Danny Garcia is busy with a Khan rematch rather than focus on Peterson and JMM. No other champion is close to even holding more than two belts at this stage at the same weight level- this includes Floyd Mayweather.

Do you think we will ever have a unified champion ever again? At any weight level. And if so, who can do it AND will the sanctioning bodies allow it?

Not in my lifetime under heavyweight. Vitali will retire and Wlad will get the first shot.

Sounds like cleverly is Goin for hopkins , quite fancy the old man for that tho due to the lack of activity and the dyer opponents of the the welsh lad

Unification = The fab 4. Not the 2. Hopkins being the last one to do so at 160.

And I KNOW he'll move up, his next fight is at welterweight for WBA welterweight.

You must be forgetting that he can move up a weight and challenge for the title instantly.

First fight at welter and he'll likely win the belt, he'll have another before the years out. Or just after new year.

It will happen if it will make money for the alphabet boys and then it will split up again after it has served that purpose. There is no way a fighter can fight all his mandatories once he is the undisputed champion.
There will be a lot of super champions.

I don't think Broner wants to face Danny Garcia, Lucas Matthyse OR an Amir Khan at 140 or 147. He is challenging Paulie Mallinaghi because Paulie is feather-fisted to start with- it's a safe step up on a grand scale.

Let's not forget tough guys like Berto, Peterson and/or Judah- who can use their strength to brutalize him.

So, Broner ran away from Donaire moving up in weight, as easy as that? hehehhhee....

I think it's the easy choice, burns was occupied so move up seems right, wouldn't you take Malignaggi also?

I woulw fight Mallinaggi too. Easy fight. But then what? Someone said Broner may unify, I don't see that happening at 140 or 147. It's out of striking range for even Mayweather now. jmo... he could have (Broner, that is) unified at lightweight, if only briefly. But he has- and quite clearly- opted out of unification for MORE MONEY. It is what it is...

This... only Wlad. Danny Garcia, on a longggggggggggg shot. But only Wlad at this time. Not that someone else may not be able to do it, because I feel Donaire can do it AND there may be some possibilities at Cruiserweight. But, Donaire may move up and the Cruiserweight division isn't glamorous!

Indeed. The Orgs hate unification with a passion but its situational. Jose says the winner of Trout/Alvarez must decide which belt they will keep in 15 days because they don't allow their belt holders to hold other titles. Yet both Garcia and Wlad hedge that rule. I think the Wbc followed by the Wba invented all these other titles like "interim" and "silver" in order to muddy the waters even further. That and all the extra sanctioning fees. The Wba has 36 world champions in 17 divisions and the Wbc close to the same. Convenient as hell for these racketeers.

I think it could happen at heavyweight soon, vitali is not going to go past this year I think, if he does fight on at all.. then it depends on the wbc belt.. if the wbc allow it and it is occupied by a worthy champion who will be willing to fight wladimir then i could see it happening next year at heavyweight

Thats right I was in error. Its Ward and Garcia that have the Wba and Wbc straps with no pressure to choose.

This rule only applies to non-Mexicans and non-Americans. I think there is a note in a WBC by-law that states you can adjust or just make up your mandatory requirements too.

What I'm gathering is that there is a bit of art to the rankings list- a kinda "look and see" kind of attitude to the rankings. hehehhe... (ok,ok... it's corrupt to the core. We get it!!)
