Jamie McDonnell's world title fight picked up by Primetime
Jamie McDonnell all ready for Primetime PPV
Saw this a couple of days ago. Wow, I can't see this doing well on PPV when Burns is fighting on Sky Sports at the same time. McDonnell isn't well known enough to be fighting on a PPV channel and your die hard fan is likely going to watch the Burns card instead. Really bad move by Hobson but maybe it was this or nothing.

Re: Jamie McDonnell's world title fight picked up by Primetime
That's definitely gonna be a contender for the lowest ever PPV buys. I bet 95% of people on here don't have a clue who he is.
-
Re: Jamie McDonnell's world title fight picked up by Primetime
Shame, think he will struggle anyway, but now he will not be seen by anyone doing so. I 'm not sure if that is a good or bad thing but if he pulls off the upset he is gonna be gutted that two men and a sheepdog in Doncaster got to see it.

Re: Jamie McDonnell's world title fight picked up by Primetime
What a crap channel and who is Jamie?
-
Are they gona charge £15? Everybody will just stream it
-
Re: Jamie McDonnell's world title fight picked up by Primetime
They might not watch him in the UK. But he'll be watched in Mexico. This fight is getting a good amount of hype there. It's gonna be Julio Ceja first championship
-
Re: Jamie McDonnell's world title fight picked up by Primetime
I agree with bzk that in the uk this seems like such a bad idea.
But I'm not sure if Ceja is very popular in Mexico, if he is then it'll sell fine.
Like if David Haye fought an unknown from Japan, we'd probably buy it.

Put it this way. Ceja is a lot more popular in Mexico than McDonnell is in the UK. Anyway this fight ain't PPV in Mexikco

Re: Jamie McDonnell's world title fight picked up by Primetime
They are charging £10.50 and the promoters says if he loses then he stands to lose quite a substantial amount of money on this investment. He believes it is better to have the fight on home ground than risk it abroad. Lets hope he loses then.
-
Re: Jamie McDonnell's world title fight picked up by Primetime
I like Jamie, he's an incredibly hard worker in his fights, but I think he'll lose this in a Kevin Mitchell-Michael Katsidis fashion. Ceja looks a decent fighter so I'm not really sure what Hobson is thinking putting a fight on Primetime with the star of his show a virtual unknown to the average fight fan who is likely the underdog going in. Die hard fans would pay, but they're unlikely to pay when Burns (a well known fighter with Sky backing him) is going to be fighting on Sky Sports 1 for no extra fee. It is promotional suicide.

It might not be that easy. McDonnell is tough. With the home crowd behind him, him winning is possible.
-
Will it actually be PPV? I know a few times Primetime have picked shows up and put them on free to air?

I am surprised that you are so confident of him winning. I am not so sure that Jamie has enough power. He will work hard and relentlessly though so you never know.

I been following Ceja for awhile. He's real good. But he's only 20. And that's where McDonnell might have a chance if the moment or environment some how overwhelms Ceja

Have you seen McDonnell fight?

Re: Jamie McDonnell's world title fight picked up by Primetime
Ceja is favourite with the British bookies. Odds on to win by KO too.

About 5 or 6 times. There is no way he beat Jamoye. That was a gift

What did you think? Personally I think he has a strong work ethic and decent stamina, but he isn't world class. I missed the Jamoye fight, but I thought he lost to Ian Napa quite clearly, but the Haskins decision against him was a joke.

I think he beat Haskins as well. But watch the Jamoye fight. You'll see what I'm talking about

I'll make a point of seeing that now. I just assumed the decision was ok as there wasn't much fuss about it. Watch the Napa fight if you can find a copy. Napa makes him miss alot, lands and gets punished by the judges for not having any power. It was an awful decision.

About the same amount that will buy Froch-Kessler or bought Mayweather last week. None. Nobody on here buys PPV.
I used to get called a mug on here for buying them. Thankfully I eventually got the message and turned into an utter ponce like everyone else. I now like being a ponce.

Re: Jamie McDonnell's world title fight picked up by Primetime
Absolutly shocking decision to put this on PPV. I dont know anyone who will get this in. Competing with Burns on Sky, they would have been better off putting it on yesterday night instead. Clueless promoter!

Re: Jamie McDonnell's world title fight picked up by Primetime
Generally I cant stand singers in the ring but that was out of this World ;D
Did Hall get the nod? Looked like a pretty even affair.

Re: Jamie McDonnell's world title fight picked up by Primetime
Like how the announcers pretty much ignore Ceja's body attack
-
Re: Jamie McDonnell's world title fight picked up by Primetime
The body shots are stopping McDonnell movements. But he's fighting.
-
Re: Jamie McDonnell's world title fight picked up by Primetime
VD we're watching different fights mate. You're boy is getting schooled right now Im afraid.
-
Re: Jamie McDonnell's world title fight picked up by Primetime
Great action in the 8th and 9th rounds. Close fight. Ceja up 5 rounds to 4

Come on now. McDonnell has landed some nice punches. But Ceja been going to the body the whole fight. And he clearly just took the 10th
-
Re: Jamie McDonnell's world title fight picked up by Primetime
McDonnell barely survives the 11th

So you gonna completely ignore the previous 4 or 5 rounds when he was made to look a bit shit then? ;D
Cracking fight. I think Ceja needs the stoppage.
