Chavez Jr is a fatty says Arum

Re: Chavez Jr is a fatty says Arum
The comments after the article were funny. I regard 75% of people on here as donuts and then you read stuff like that (;D).
Geroge Groves will spark him out at 168.

Could be a big payday, do you think Groves would fight at 165 in Mexico? Just wondering.

I don't think Chavez jr or Groves are anywhere near each others radar. However, if Chavez jr moved up to supermiddle, forget Ward, FRoch and Kessler, I'm saying George Groves will knock him out.

I think a lot of the Super Middleweights would give him kittens which is why he has avoided moving up. Actually given his weight maybe that should be down.:p It's a shame if Murray has to fight a cruiserweight in Mexico to make a living but he could still give him problems.

Re: Chavez Jr is a fatty says Arum
I don't think Chavez ever sees 160 again and I don't think he'll fight any of the top guys at 168 anytime soon. I'm sure Arum has plans for him but they definitely don't include guys like Ward.

Who is he going to fight then ? If Murray beats him does Martinez disappear or will Blob just hype it up as an essential fight that everybody wants to see?

Re: Chavez Jr is a fatty says Arum
Midnight bong sessions and salad bowls of Captain crunch can be hell on the waistline.
He's done at 160 I'd say. If he attempted to melt down by August he'll be even less effective vs top tier comp than he already is :-X

Re: Chavez Jr is a fatty says Arum
I hope Chavez Jr. does not get down to 160 because Brian Vera deserves the big payday and opportunity.

Groves couldn't even finish a 200 year old Glen Johnson who was just there for a pay check. Johnson wouldn't see 6 rounds against Chavez. And neither would Groves

Bob and one of the sanctioning bodies manufacture a vacant belt and Chavez fights somebody he can beat for it. Then he fights a few more people he can beat until somebody like Froch/Stevenson looks beatable. I can't see them ever putting Chavez in with Ward even when Ward is in his sixties.
That's what Bob would like to do with Chavez. In reality Chavez has zero discipline. He can't be bothered to go to the gym even with the biggest fight of his life coming up and also there's the cannabis thing, the drink driving and on top of that he has a serious gambling problem and has probably blown almost all the money he's made on the tables in Vegas and with bookies. So Arum's plan for Chavez probably isn't going to go smoothly.

Re: Chavez Jr is a fatty says Arum
Agree he wont fight a top super middleweight. Likely put him in with Don George, Yusaf Mack or Brian Magee. Throw DeGale in with him. Could be a fun fight
-
Re: Chavez Jr is a fatty says Arum
In Jr's defense the depth t 168 is probably one of the reasons he's been sacrificing to remain at 160. Well that and the 20 pound plus weight advantage at fight time. He's certainly not the only one to weight or rather wait out a division.
Groves is a nice kid but I think Jr hammers him.

Re: Chavez Jr is a fatty says Arum
Chavez's stop at 168 would be brief. He could easily move up even higher. Enough of the gaining 20-30 pounds by fight time. It's been Junior's recipe for success against lesser opposition, until he got schooled by Martinez. Let him go up and fight fighters his own size.

I could swap the names out on this and apply it to many fighters.

I can almost think of one, but Canelo hasn't lost yet.

Re: Chavez Jr is a fatty says Arum
Final warning, gentlemen. Keep that stuff out of the boxing threads.

Not if he's a PR. They tend to get knocked out during the record padding stage

Re: Chavez Jr is a fatty says Arum
Junior is a marketing tool that has been created to generate money off his dads fame. He does not have the desire or talent to sustain a world class career no matter how much the WBC bend their rules to ensure he remains a high profile player for their organisation. Frankly it is getting embarassing for them.

True that.

Re: Chavez Jr is a fatty says Arum
I don't know how I missed this but apparently Jr thinks that Martinez "is a bit talkative and lacks humility" and wants to fight Ward Or Golovkin :-X Even allowing for mistranslation it's a bit rich coming from someone not exactly famous for showing respect ;D
Chavez Jr. Prefers Golovkin or Ward Next, Not Martinez - Boxing News

Re: Chavez Jr is a fatty says Arum
Chavez is acting like a bitch, either way he will lose.

That is some quality rose tinted bullshit right there. Chavez went life or death with Matt Vanda and didn't do as well against Martinez as Macklin or Murray. Groves is better than both of them and he's still a prospect. Chavez isn't a massive puncher and considering Froch couldn't get Johnson out of there, how is Chavez gunna do it within 6 rounds?
-
Re: Chavez Jr is a fatty says Arum
I'd love to see him fight Ward.We all know there's less than zero chance that fight ever gets made. He's going to get handed Ward's 168 belt in a fight for the vacant title and the opponent will probably be Marco Antonio Rubio. Or maybe Manfredo.
Or how about Junior versus Froch. Ha ha.

Chavez was sick in that fight. He proved it in the rematch when he handled him with ease. Using that fight against him is like using Groves getting dropped by mediocre prospect Kenny Anderson against him

No body stops Froch, he may have his limitations but his chin is not one of them.

Chavez would be hard pressed to beat Sakio Bika, let alone the #2 man at SMW. Jr. doesn't wanna play with the big boys thats why hes been starving himself down to 160, but it looks like time is about up for that game.

Foolish comment. Froch would be hard pressed to beat Savio Bika. Bika is a tough muthafukka. Nobody has an easy time with Bika.

Except for having the ugliest wife known to man I don't think I've ever bad mouthed Bika.
