I saw that a few days ago and figured the guy knew how to fight, by the way he stood, how he turned on the right hand. Plus, the guys in the background were calling him "Champ." No idea it was Lockridge.
Its a damn shame what happened to Lockridge. Part of me wonders if this was a set up if not for the guys head bouncing off the walk.

In all fairness, I don't think that Lou Duva encouraged Lockridge to become a crack head.
Though I grant you that some fighters just have inner demons that are too strong, some promoters though..truly are shit. Look at what happened with Briggs, took the beating of his life and only got fifty thousand for it.
That's right. We can't always blame the promoters for how fighters turn out.
It's the fighter's fault for being dumb enough to get played.
Lockridge was minding his own business and the young guy wanted to mess with him.

Anyway, Boggs told my Dad a story of a big guy at a bar who had been drinkin picking a fight with him. Boggs told him "I'm a pro fighter and ranked 8th in the world right now, I'm not gonna mess up my hands on your ugly face".
So the guy took 6 or 7 swings at Boggs, who slipped the punches easily, then the big guy was out of breath and told him "Okay you can leave now"
Boggs just smiled and said "Alright thanks".

He said yes, and that he told them he was a professional fighter and only fought for money. The interviewer asked, what if the guy put $20 on the bar. Lane responded "Like I said, I'm a professional fighter..."
