will anyone ever be called roger again?
what were going through peoples minds when they were naming their children in the olden days?
who in their right mind would call their child Roger? or Barry?

Re: will anyone ever be called roger again?
Good thread.
I think there will be 7 more Rogers born in the UK in total.
Same old names did make a comeback - George, erm, a few others, but Roger didn't make the cut.
I wonder how many new 'Waynes' there will be. Not an old name but surely completely discredited.

Re: will anyone ever be called roger again?
What about Keith?
For me Keith was dead and buried as a name. I only ever knew one Keith and he was a twat so had to beat him up. Im sure though with the popularity of Mr Lemon there will be a few Keith's popping out. Probably 4.

We've got a Wayne in work. Good looking chap, good at football. All the ingredients are there for a decent bloke but something is weighing heavily on his mind, you can see it. Must be the name.
Maybe work only employed him to qualify for some equal opportunities register?

From the that list George and Oscar will survive. Harry will pick up as well.
Alfie seems popular at the minute as well. Expect middle names to be old school as people stick parents/grandparents there.

Names become fashionable so Doris, Ethal and Betty will come back!
Names like Sebastian and Archibald need shooting.
I have always like names like Ethan and Fabian.

Re: will anyone ever be called roger again?
To me, Nigel is the quintissential British name. I guess that is what I get from watching too much Famil Guy. Is it common for black britons to use infuse African culture into their children's names? I went to school with a lot of Shaquitas or a common name with a "La" thrown on the front ie LaMichael.

That must be an African American thing.

I don't even understand where those names come from.

Re: will anyone ever be called roger again?
Ha at the time I picked old names for both my boys especially the eldest one but they came back and are fashionable now.
so Roger will be back as its all down to who your referring to...
Roger Moore
Roger Federer
Roger Daltrey
Roger Rabbit ;D;D;D
everything goes full circle and its all down to younger people seeing names as old so in 40 years the people naming kids will look at Chloe, Jordan etc etcas right old fashioned names and think Roger sounds modern again :D

I read a book by two economists and they studied, using econoomic principals, whatever that means, a bunch of stuff. One subject was the effect that 'very' African-American sounding names have on a child's earning potential. They focused on two brothers- Orangejello and Lemonjello (o-RON-gello and le-MON-jello) and a girl named Shithead (sh-TEE-odd). They figured it would hurt your earning potential pretty bad to be named Shithead.
I have a friend that has a 19 year old son. I was talking about how, when I was a kid, a boy named 'Skyler' would either have to be a fighting mofo or drop out of school in the first grade. The 19 year old said that he had gone to school with a 'Skyler' and that 'Skyler' was a bully. That really cracked me up.

Of course liberals will usually say "Nuh uh that's just an urban legend drummed up by bigot white people. There's nobody named that"
But there are some stupid fucking names out there and yes you will be told "Never judge a book by it's cover" but the odds are if you're named something stupid you're not going to get the benefit of the doubt or a second chance at a first impression.
