Malignaggi v Broner / Mitchell v Banks Chat Thread
I'm looking forward to this fight this weekend, it's an interesting move Broner coming up in two weight classes and I do feel he will be too much for Paulie. Also looking forward to Banks-Mitchell 2 as well, I don't know who to pick In that one.
So does anybody give Paulie a chance of upsetting the odds?

I do, and I shall be betting on it.
Plus I have a sig bet on :)

UD or SD.
Should be interesting.

No cant see it. Paulie struggled with Cano. Broner is far better then Cano. Broner will stop him mid to late

He struggled with Cano and he was stopped by Hatton and Khan, and lost to Cotto. At this point, in my opinion, Paulie signed up for this fight for the pay check. He's making $1.25M.
By the way, is it me or is paying Broner $1.5M to face Paulie just completely ridiculous? To put it in perspective, Cano made $150k for his fight against Paulie. Cano made 10% Broner's pay check for facing the same guy. It's not like the fight is in Cincinnati so there is no way Broner is influencing ticket sales to such an extent that it makes it worth it to pay him that much money to face Paulie.

re: Malignaggi v Broner / Mitchell v Banks Chat Thread
Broner will stop Paulie and he will do it in devastating fashion. Let's just not get all up in arms about it when it happens. This is not a historic, career-defining win. Other than the fact that it is at 147, it is even a step back from DeMarco. Frankly, it's a joke of a "big fight." I'm a little disturbed that people are buying into its hype. The under card looks decent enough though.

re: Malignaggi v Broner / Mitchell v Banks Chat Thread
Sure, anyone has a "shot". But these guys are the epitome of rushing in two different directions career wise. Paulie is as war torn, been there-done that-fought him as they come but was beat up in his last fight. Broner, honestly, hasn't done shit thats impressed me enough to go hysterical. Beating up Paulie won't do it either but it will manage him a trinket and put the :o in some fans. Its a logical move for Broner but its literally a showcase for a fresher, younger, bigger, faster and massivly pushed-hyped new network glory boy. I seriously don't see Broner as more talented but he of course all of those.
-
re: Malignaggi v Broner / Mitchell v Banks Chat Thread
This a good pay day for Paulie, he is the weakest of the welter-weight Champs, Broner should
win this one Paulie is no puncher.
If Broner wins will he stay at welter,! can't see it myself he may move back down in weight.
-
re: Malignaggi v Broner / Mitchell v Banks Chat Thread
Paulie barely scrapes wins now and will get beat by Broner.
-
re: Malignaggi v Broner / Mitchell v Banks Chat Thread
I put $100 on Paulie to win $1000.
Not that I'm super confident in Paulie winning, but I figured I'd throw some money on him based on a number of factors/possibilities.
1) Jumping two weight divisions is a big leap, even if it is against a flower-puncher like Paulie.
2) The added bulk might slow Broner down, or maybe the fact that he only has to be under 147 might make him under train.
3) He hasn't faced a class opponent with the style that Paulie has.

I agree but nor should it be underplayed. It’s a decent win against a kind of gatekeeper with a trinket. But should Broner win like many of us think he should Paulie should not be written off as some scrub which is already being hinted at. When boxers are hated like Broner things can go just as far the other way. For example prior to Demarco many over the boxing web were suggesting Demarco could win and some were sure of it. After he got smoked the win by Broner was no big deal.

re: Malignaggi v Broner / Mitchell v Banks Chat Thread
yikes lol.. If you have the money to play with then good luck, but I'd sooner put $1000 on Broner in order to make 25 cents myself. The kiss of death from a betting perspective is that even if Paulie actually manages to earn a close decision(which is such a long shot in the first place) he won't get it.

re: Malignaggi v Broner / Mitchell v Banks Chat Thread
Any chance of bumping this up as fight chat thread ??? Like quickly ;D
Undercard action starting right now on Showtime Extreme....Cruisers Marcus Brown 4-0 (4) vs Ricardo Campillo 7-6-1 (5)...don't blink
Corona gals...9.5 stars of 10 thus far :-X
-
re: Malignaggi v Broner / Mitchell v Banks Chat Thread
Brown goes 5-0 tko 2 over a willing but badly outclassed fulltime karate instructor Campillo.
Julian Williams 12-0 (7) vs a seemingly faded Joachim Alcine 33-4-1 (19) at the bell..
-
re: Malignaggi v Broner / Mitchell v Banks Chat Thread
Batting practice for Williams...Alcine down 1 min into it but bulls him to ropes and smothers to survive round.
-
Can't see anything other than a Broner TKO in this one. They're both on very different career trajectory's right now. I don't think the whole "jumping 2 weight classes" is going to be that big a deal either, Broner looked good at the weigh in and Paulie is hardly a big welterweight himself. Plus he couldn't crack an egg so it's not like Broner is going to have to be wary of a bigger man's power.

re: Malignaggi v Broner / Mitchell v Banks Chat Thread
This has actually turned into a good scrap by the old champ. Williams in control 1-4 includind a hard left hook KD, a "kd" via left hook on the break he was warned about. Alcine down yet again in 5th by left hook....then Alcine comes back in round, starts digging body very hard and catching Williams to win rounds 6,7,8 here. IF this was maybe a 10 rounder it would have been interesting. How he survived 4th, early 5th who knows.
Williams W.8

Same here.
Can't stand Broner, used to hate Paulie years ago, but I've come to like and respect him.
Its really hard to pick Paulie in this one, I keep thinking about how he was utterly lost and dominated by Amir Khan.
Speed kills. Broner has a lot more of it than Paulie.
Broner should win this by decision.

re: Malignaggi v Broner / Mitchell v Banks Chat Thread
Lets see if Periban is in over his head or not
-
re: Malignaggi v Broner / Mitchell v Banks Chat Thread
Should decide who gets to possibly warm a belt for Chavez? Periban doing well picking spots

Sorry dude. Coverage only just started here in the UK, so I've not paid attention till now.
I reckon Bika, Banks and Broner get the Triple B victories!

Yea but to be honest Bika looks weak. Chavez won't have issues with either of these guys

Paulie's last fight was an undercard fight. This is a main event. Broner will no doubt have a contract minimum of over a million and Paulie has been offered more than GBP would pay him for any other fight so that he gives Broner the belt opportunity.
They're hoping Paulie in a big fight plus Broner's growing shall we say notoriety is going to sell lots of tickets and Broner already attracts main event TV money so they should make money and add value to their Broner product.

It kind of looks like bear baiting with just one dog. When Bika does catch Periban, he looks stronger and more seasoned than Periban. It's hard to see Periban getting the better of this one so far.
-
Re: Malignaggi v Broner / Mitchell v Banks Chat Thread
Bika is winninhg this after 5. It's an enjoyable fight.

Totally, seems to be in the plans ;D. Periban has the lower torso of a 1940's fashion model but keeping smart so far.

It's been close. I gave Bika the 1st and Periban at least 2 of the next 3. 5 and 6 were Bikas

Re: Malignaggi v Broner / Mitchell v Banks Chat Thread
No upper body or head movement by either. You could throw a punch from down the block and land it.
Bika's hair cut looks like a cross between a Huron and did you get a free bowl of soup with that.
-
Re: Malignaggi v Broner / Mitchell v Banks Chat Thread
See this fist back here. Yeah, this one behind my right hip. It's gonna do a big loop, and then land on your face. Yeah, just like a big ole windmill. You think you can dodge it? Really? You get 12 rounds to figure out how.
-
Re: Malignaggi v Broner / Mitchell v Banks Chat Thread
Word is Bika if fails to be champion again the beast he calls a wife stays with him another 20 years as punishment
-
Re: Malignaggi v Broner / Mitchell v Banks Chat Thread
I have Bika still up, but it is competitive. Periban looks good and then goes dancing.

Re: Malignaggi v Broner / Mitchell v Banks Chat Thread
Periban's legs just seem heavier and getting worse. Big problem when your game involves staying away from the opponent. I don't see it going 12.
-
Re: Malignaggi v Broner / Mitchell v Banks Chat Thread
Periban needs to let his hands go more.
