De La Hoya: Peter Quillin destroys any middleweight..
-
That is a pretty embarrassing flat out duck. Golovkin doesn't have to go backwards to prove anything. Quillin is like a 20% cocoa, milky sugar filled snack, he can call himself what he wants but he ain't Chocolate.
-
Re: De La Hoya: Peter Quillin destroys any middleweight..
De La Hoya: "I wanna see Golovkin vs. Hassan N'Dam N'Jikam and then I'll see if he's good or not," De La Hoya told his social network followers.
Oscar, since your so confident in Quillin, how about making GGG-Quillin, so we can see how good both are ;)
-
Re: De La Hoya: Peter Quillin destroys any middleweight..
Finito - What makes you so high on Quillin? I see a big puncher with some stamina issues who can be outboxed. Am I wrong?
-
Re: De La Hoya: Peter Quillin destroys any middleweight..
DelaHoya is an embarrassing human being. He is always wrong in his predictions. He lost most of his big fights too.

Exactly. Let him go and fight on HBO, beat Golovkin and fuck HBO up even worse. Easy to mouth off when there's no chance of a fight happening.

Re: De La Hoya: Peter Quillin destroys any middleweight..
ODH is talking rubbish and just promoting his fighter. Kid Chocolate is good and it would be a good fight against Golovkin. Lets get that fight on.

Im not like super high on the guy but because the MW division is so thin at the moment, IM just riding with the one with potential and the guy with a style that most resembles mine happens to be QUillin..
You are right. He does have flaws which is why im not a hardcore fan of him yet. As you mentioned, his stamina is suspect and dude has shown lapses of losing focus inside the ring but that's probably because his fights has been so easy.. He needs to face a real challenge who'll push him and give him a wakeup call..
I also do not like his finishing ability.. He's scored many knockdowns and could have finished the fight earlier but he seems to have a problem with capitalizing..
But overall, I like his style. He has good balance, footwork, but most of all, Im really high on his punching technique. Most important thing is he's been slowy but surely elevating his game after each bout.
-
Re: De La Hoya: Peter Quillin destroys any middleweight..
I like Quillen but right now I would not fancy anybody's chances vs Golovkin. I am not so certain Pete can be "outboxed" so easily and I haven't seen many stamina issues. He has big pop I know that much, and he also has fast hands. I do wonder how technically sound he is, right now Golovkin looks the better fighter on that basis but it would be a fun fight.
-
Re: De La Hoya: Peter Quillin destroys any middleweight..
I'd be much happier if the fight was made. Oscars just trying to keep him afloat in minds adrift if the second coming of Jason voorhees that is Golovkin so I can't knock him, but popping off with destroy everyone is empty boarder line desperate talk. The kid can fight, he merits attention! I give him a sharp chance against what I've seen of Golovkin!
-
Re: De La Hoya: Peter Quillin destroys any middleweight..
I got a hundred bucks that says they never fight.
On a related note, God I hate this eras interpretation of risk and reward.

Okay who signed the exclusive contract to the network that doesn't allow Haymon fighters? You can say he signed before but we all knew it was headed that way. If you are Showtime why do you let a guy who you pay 400,000 to be on undercards fight on your rival? Why do I have the feeling these people are the same ones who think Floyd was scared of Manny? Typical double standard how come people are saying Quillin should go to HBO? Why aren't people calling for GGG to go to Showtime? We all know why.
Also I love how fast people are to dump on N'Dam put him on GGG's resume, where would he be? He would be two, GGG fans have mental handicap where they think Ishida is an ATG.

This makes no sense. With all due respect, I think you need to understand there is very little difference in GB and TR. If you think DLH is an honest, upstanding citizen, I just don't know what to tell you. I'll tell you what, if there is a promoter out there that appears on the surface to be legitimate and transparent, it would be Matchroom and Eddie Hearn, not they they are perfect.

Honestly I'm not fooled by either I've seen the way GB treats Lara and maybe sets up there guys for gift decisions. Also I'm not sure why you bring up Top Rank GGG is not Top Rank so it's not an issue. But the fact that GGG has a contract with HBO and Golden Boy has called up HBO and offered them Paulie-Broner and Hopkins-Stevenson and they said no means Quillin can't duck GGG, the only way Quillin can be accused of ducking is if HBO sends Golden Boy a contract , just because GGG wishes to face someone doesn't make it a duck, if this is a duck than Mikey and Donaire are ducking Mares and Manny is ducking the Golden Boy welters, it gets on my nerves that the GGG fans pretend there is no network war that was my point.

Goes both ways though right, my friend. Mares is ducking Donaire and the GB welters are ducking Manny?
Quillin isn't ducking GGG now although I heard rumors a while ago that Quillin opted to not face GGG before the HBO-Showtime war began.
Frankly, GGG versus Quillin would be a heck of a fight. I wish it would happen. I don't think GGG would be favored all that much.

Noone is saying Quillin is ducking GGG. It's just a stupid comment from ODLH because he knows the fight ain't gonna happen. I personally don't see how Quillin could beat Golovkin unless he is an even bigger puncher then he thinks he is. He lost pretty much every round he didn't floor Ndam and Ndam is a very average fighter.
You can say whatever you want about GGg resume and say he hasn't fought anyone as good as Ndam. If GGg fights Ndam the fight ends in round 1.
I'd like to see Quillin v Murray. I wasn't impressed by Quillin in the fight against the Scottish chap Lee beat(can't think of his name) so a Murray test would give a good scale of how good he really is

I like how you dump on N'Dam who has been on the ringmiddleweights rankings for years but act like 9 loss Ishida is special, still not sure why you give him so much credit.

Or the fact that his resume is so pathetic that you need to blow Ishida. I'd respect you more if you would just admit you are in love with him.

Ive already explained why I like him. There is nothing not to like as a boxing fan. ID respect you a lot more if you tell me what was wrong with his performance against Ishida, or Macklin??
You clearly have no clue on boxing. Everyone can tell on this forum because the only arguments that come out of your mouth is dribble about resumes and fan boys which could be used against any of the fighters you are defending in exactly the same way. Again you are a clueless nobend.

Ishida was a 154 pound journeymen, Kirkland was an idiot drug user who didn't bother training, he already had his next fight planned, Ishida isn't what GGG fans claim
Macklin is his best win I've never criticized it, others have said he fought scared I've never made that argument.
You can have all the talent in the world but if you don't face no one who cares? I've never been a 0 worshiper, it doesn't mean much either if you don't face anyone.

Agrred, but do you not thing the way in which GGG stopped Ishida was impressive? 3rd round KO something Pirog, Williams, Kirkland couldnt do?
Bit in bold - why have you a hard on for Quillin, Chavez, Russell Jr? None have beaten anyone who is that good and also in their fights a lot of times they have looked pretty average - Quillin against the Scot and Ndam, and Chavez against Lee

I was impressed but yall have taken the win way to far.
I'm not high on Chavez just not down on him he's struggled but you seem to be claiming no other middleweight is good if Chavez and Quillin aren't good than you can say he cleared out 160, I've seen that tactic used by people who claim Manny cleared out 147.

I think GGG could clear out the MW division now. Its a pretty shit division. I hope he fights Chavez, Quillin and Martinez because I want to see him in with the "big" names. I dont think any of them will cause him trouble at this point

Re: De La Hoya: Peter Quillin destroys any middleweight..
GGG has had three main events on HBO. Quillin hasn't had one main event on Showtime. DLH needs to step his game up. If there is more hype on GGG, part of the reason is that he's had more exposure, and when he gets exposure he's terrorizing people.
It's all personal opinion, but I rank GGG's win over Macklin higher than I do Quillin's over N'Dam, BUT not that much higher. I rank GGG's win over Rosado higher than I do Quillin's over Guerrero. On resume, they are not too far apart, however. The way they've won fights though has been starkly different.

More or less what I was trying to say. Quillin is now 30 and has had 2 more fights then GGG so they should be in a very similar place career wise. But Quillin seems to be becoming very inactive. He fought 4 times in 2011, twice in 2012 and only once so far in 2013 with no news of him fighting again this year. GGG on the other hand has fought 3 times this year already.

Delvin Rodriguez will get a HBO main event this year, Stevenson went from WealthTV to an HBO main event, Zou had a 4 round main event on HBO2 so let's not act like an HBO main event makes GGG special. Also GGG signed with HBO so GB has no obligation to give him anything.

Sure, but Quillin hasn't had ONE main event. Not one. Who ever said GB had an obligation to GGG? GB and GGG have no relationship. But, Oscar needs to do more for Quillin. He's got him negative shine so far.
