fights that pissed you off
I was rewatching Canelo v Trout last eve. I can't help but get heated every time I watch it. First off, Canelo has become a diety figure in Mexico which pisses me off. Sure, he is a good fighter but thirty thousand people on their feet for someone who fights for a minute or two each round is ridiculous. I think Trout is one of the more decent guys in boxing. He shows sincere respect for his opponents and I think his style is beautiful. He stays active during the entire fight and is a lot of fun to watch. Canelo seemed intent in driving home the fact this fight was for revenge for his brother. Trout reiterated this fight about the fight at hand. I don't like to use the word robbery, it gets thrown around a lot. Canelo probably won by a round but calling it a draw I think would not have been ridiculous. The scoring was shameful. Canelo had an advantage before the fight started
I hate to say it but I want to see Floyd Money ktfo of Alvarez. It may actually help Alvarez in the long run,
Do you guys have any similar feelings or am I off my rocker
-
Cotto was Zab cause of the low blows
Floyd vs Zab because it should have been a DQ and Floyd's gloves touched the canvas
Molina vs Kirkland garbage end
Abril vs Rios insane robbery
JMM vs Manny 3 I had it 8-4
GGG vs Rosado Rosado was a warrior but you bring in a 154 pounder and beat the shit out of him.
Manny vs Margarito it was for Sergio's belt Manny ducked him than a won his belt
Josesito Lopez vs Canelo a 140 pounder vs a 154 pounder
Devon-Bradley like Bradley but his headbutts are an embarrassment
JMM vs Floyd Floyd came in fat and beat the smaller guy
Sergio's whole career makes me mad he's been screwed out of 3 belts and robbed twice in the ring
-
Re: fights that pissed you off
I will say that ANY fight for a title that is not fought at the weight designated for that title pisses me off.
Any fight for the diamond/silver/aluminum/emerald/platinum or any other belt other than the ACTUAL CHAMPIONSHIP pisses me off.
So I can say that really, Floyd coming in 4 pounds over a contracted weight with JMM ticks me off.
All champions who have vacated a title because they haven't made the weight frustrate me a bit, but if you are off by more than 2 pounds, it pisses me off... especially if you fight anyway and knock the challenger out due to your advantage, then brag about your performance in the post-fight interview. You just lost your belt before the bell rung, but you're BRAGGING? Just sayin'...
-
Re: fights that pissed you off
Whitaker V Chavez (The draw was a travesty and bad for boxing...then no rematch WTF?)
I can't blame Chavez for not fighting him again, it would've been embarrassing.
DLH V Trinidad (i still think it was one of DLH's best performances, i had it 117-111 and winning the final 3 rounds does not win you the fight. You learn a lesson though and that is don't take your foot off the peddle, you can land double the punches and still lose!
Hatton V Tszyu (Possibly the worst refereeing of a major fight that i have ever seen, Hatton had Tszyu wearing his balls as earrings that night and should've been DQ'd.)
Tszyu was also over confident and gave away far to many concessions thinking ahead to PBF.

Mikey coming into the fight at 128 and everyone acting like the KO of JuanMa was shameful.

Re: fights that pissed you off
De La Hoya-Trinidad
I just watched that the other day for the first time in couple of years and Oscar won that fight hands down. I don't even think it was close to a draw.
I also agree that the Judah-Mayweather fight was horseshit. Roger Mayweather came into the ring. DQ
anytime Bernard Hopkins fights makes me angry although I did enjoy the last fight win over Cloud.
-
Re: fights that pissed you off
In Jin Chi Vs Brodie 1
This shit right here was a straight up heist job like like in Ocena's 11, British edition, and you would have to have watched the entire fight to know what im talking about..
I understand the judges forgot to follow the script to score it for Brodie, but couldnt u have made it less obvious?
-
Re: fights that pissed you off
Mayorga vs. Mosley and Mayorga vs. Cotto hurt.
He was doing well mauling and roughhousing Mosley, headed to a close respectable distance loss or even draw on some cards and then BAM! He's KO'd in the last bit of the 12th.
Not as close of fight, but Mayorga was givin Cotto a good fight, good showing, then blows it again and gets KO'd in the 12th.
Sucked to watch.
-
Martinez cintron, martinez gets robbed of a ko, and then of ud and gets shafted with a draw all in the same effin night, germany is always mentioned how shady their judgging and reffing can be, and they couldn't pull this shit off if they tried.
Tavoris-campillo, as clear a robbery as there is.
Also ortiz losing his shit once again against mayweather with the headbutt and the ensuing "sucker" punch by floyd, fight was fairly entertaining but the ending was just insanely anti climatic and shitty
-
Re: fights that pissed you off
Erik Morales vs. David Diaz. That fight was not even close. I had it 117-110 Morales and he lost because it was in Chicago. It was bullshit, and I remember only 1 person on here made a case for a draw, pretty much everyone had Erik making Mexican history. Robbing a legend of his legacy was shameful, and those judges want shooting.
I hate Joe Cortez. That guy is one of the worst referees ever. Case in point, Humberto Soto - Francisco Lorenzo I. That was one of the worst pieces of refereeing I've ever seen. Soto lands a clean knockdown, Cortez says he was shit while he was down and then walks around the ring pretty much asking every official outside the ring what call he should make, before botching the whole thing completely. He shouldn't have got paid for that fight, because he didn't do his job.
Sergio Martinez-Kermit Cintron. Sergio wins clean, Cintron and his team run around the ring after the referee claiming it was a headbutt, referee then says he didn't stop the fight, fight continues and it gets called a draw on the judges scorecards? So Sergio knocked him out, and clearly decisioned him and he still didn't win the fight. All kinds of bullshit gone on there.
Audley Harrison-Michael Sprott II. If Sprott doesn't sit on the ropes and stays clear for another minute, then not only does he win, but we don't ever get to see the horror that was Haye vs. Harrison.
Marco Antonio Barrera-Juan Manuel Marquez. I thought it was a good fight that Juan was winning, then bam...Marco lands a clean knockdown. Jay Nady doesn't jump in so MAB hits him again while he is down. If Nady is anywhere near the action, that doesn't happen. Rightful call to deduct a point, but he doesn't score the downdown. Ruined the fight because JMM coasted to victory, had the knockdown been called I think the fight would've been more competitive. (I'm glad JMM won because I was rooting for him, but I don't like stupid calls)

Re: fights that pissed you off
Chisora vs haye-
Fight was just getting interesting then chisora threw a ridiculous slap left him open to a punch. When he got up instead of holding he was flailing away with arms wide apart like a fool. If he trained hard like he did vs vitali and stuck to a plan instead of coming in fat we would have had a good fight here
Barrera vs khan
Headbutt in round 1 causes fight to be stopped but they gave the decision to khan. Wtfs that about. Same thing happend to barrera in his previous fight but they gave him the win
Pac vs Mosley
I know Shane was washed up but he usually always gives it a go. Even against canelo in his next fight he threw punches but in this fight he did nothing and it was embarrassing
Ward vs Kessler
Home town favourtism from start to finish and we thought Germany was supposed to be bad
Floyd vs castillo 1
Castillo won comfortably. Why didnt he get the decision. With hindsight its ok cuz castillo turned out to be an idiot which leads to ....
Corrales vs castillo 2
Castillo cheated at the weigh in. Corrales being the warrior he was went ahead but the mexican who didnt bother trying to make the weight had an unfair advantage which ruined the fight putting corrales' health at risk

Re: fights that pissed you off
Worst fight I can recall Johny Nelson V James Warring, my word Nelson may have landed
15 punches in 12 rounds the worst fight, I've ever seen in my life believe me.:vd:

Yes he did. The advantage he had was he was the better fighter

There is no way Floyd will stop Saul ever. He may out box him but will not stop him. Canelo deserved the decision against Trout although it was close.

the canelo trout fight didnt piss me off or anything, but i did think the fairest result would have been a trout win, perhaps canelo sneaked a draw
i have only watched it the once mind
and i was completely expecting it, trout needed a knockout from round 1

I'm pretty high on both guys and I feel like Canelo clearly won 6 rounds with the knockdown I gave it to Canelo. Trout didn't do enough to make the round he got knocked down back, I can't see a way Trout won.

its very possible i would see it the same way as you if i watched it again (not that im gonna)
i only watched it on the off chance, i happened to wake up at 4 in the morning or something and was struggling to get back to sleep so i went downstairs and watched it, i seem to remember it being perfect timing for the start of the fight too

Re: fights that pissed you off
Mosely v Mayorga.
Mosely was proven and admitted himself he was a cheater who used epo and low and behold late in a fight where he had been bullied he was still full of energy in the last round.
Cmpare that to how he looked from before midway point after the cheating came to light...

Re: fights that pissed you off
De La Hoya/ChavezI:
Yes I knew Chavez was nearing the end of his great career, and Oscar was taking up his mantle. I knew De La Hoya was a warm favourite. But still I figured Chavez to be lively for a few rounds, making the young pup work, before De La Hoya eventually got on top of things.
So I stayed up too gone six in morning, to watch the bout. I got that tingle you get from big fights (and alcohol). And 20 seconds in Chavez is busted open. I felt a little sorry for myself as I trudged to bed, but by the time I woke up, I put it down to one of them things that can happen in boxing, Chavez and the viewing public were unlucky...
Then I found out Chavez was cut in sparring (again, it happens), it healed up, but a week before the fight Chavez's child accidently butts Chavez, causing the wound to open up again...
I was fuming when I found out! I was and still am a huge Chavez fan, but there can be no denying he tried to squeeze every last penny out of his loyal fans, as the magic was disappearing.

Bailley pretty much ended Mike Jones, did people expect Devon to trade with guys like Bailey, Lucas and Maidana.

Roy/Hopkins 2 - It was really annoying to see this punk Hopkins fighting scared against a shot ROy.. As usual, he clinched so much I lost count but the best part was when he put on that acting job on the canvas to buy time.. I always knew Hopkins was a fraud but this fight right here made me realize like wow this guy has no dignity. none..
Dawson/Hopkins 1 - I was at a loss of words when he attempted to pull an oscar worthy acting job .. fuckin punk is an opportunist.. The fans got robbed that night but what do u expect, it's hopkins.
Cloud/Hopkins - Just boring..

Azumah Nelson was a very well respected fighter. Lot of people didn't like Whitaker taunting and toying with him. Really the fight was not as close as the cards said they were

I've seen the entire fight several times but have no idea what you're talking about?
1. It was a brilliant close fight (I thought Chi won).
2. None of the officials - three judges or ref - were British.
3. Brodie was the one deducted a point for an accidental head clash that didn't even cut Chi.
4. It was Jose Sulaiman (WBC boss) that decided a scoring error had occurred, changed the result, and ordered an immediate rematch.
I don't think you could've possibly chosen a worst example of a "Brit heist job."

Mayweather - Ortiz was a fight that really pissed me off to be honest. After not seeing floyd in the ring for a while I was excited to see him fight again and the fight was starting to heat up and then we all know what happened next. I wish that never happened and we would have seen a really good fight.

Well youd need someone that isnt mainly known for quitting then.;)
I like Ortiz, his fight with Berto was great to watch. He has serious power but just lacks something that will always prevent him from reaching the top.
They have mentioned Mayorga as an opponent. That still has some potential to be fun;D

I know Ortiz is a bitch but it was just that I'd waited so long to see floyd back in action and really enjoyed the build up to it and then it was just ruined by Ortiz' stupidity. Glad he got KTFO but would have like it to happen a few rounds later after seeing more action...

Re: fights that pissed you off
I like these types of threads and there are some solid answers here. But when people start talking about fights that pissed you off (mainly the ones where the decisions were disgraceful), I'm always suprised that no one brings up Juan Urango vs. Noufel Ben Rabah. Rabah won every damn round of that fight. But Urango already had a fight scheduled with Hatton so the judges gave the damn fight to him. I swear I had that fight 12 rounds to 0. In my opinion it was the most disgraceful decision that I've ever seen. However, because it wasn't a title fight, it didn't get much press. I believe I saw it on Espn.

Re: fights that pissed you off
Recently no fight has pissed me off like Mares-Agbeko. Mares lands 7-8 blatant, hard low blows with nary a warning and then the faggot ass bitch of a ref warns Agbeko for pushing his head down. Multiple points should have been deducted from Mares in that fight, and because they weren't, the wrong guy won on the scorecards.

So you wanted Agbeko to win with the help of point deductions? Why? He didn't deserve the win. Mares was beating him regardless. He proved in the rematch he was the superior fighter

How he did in the rematch makes no difference as it was a completely separate fight. I wanted points deducted because they clearly should have been, and the fact that they weren't gave Mares a serious unfair advantage in the fight. For him to blatantly foul repeatedly and not even get a warning was fucking ridiculous... I don't care how much you'd like to suck his dick.

agreed on that one. That fight was hard to watch. That ref. wrote an official letter correcting himself. What happened to him? Also, if I recall they did have a rematch in which Mares won cleanly. That incredible amount of low blows was very tough to see.

Amir Khan v. Lamont Peterson seriously pissed me off. I didn't even have a rooting interest in the fight, but the way that the referee just gifted the fight to Peterson on questionable points deductions from Khan pushing Peterson just reaked of home cooking. And that pissed me off.
Khan easily won that fight.

At the bottom line I agree with that, the ref was abysmal in there and as we have seen a third man can effect the outcome-tempo of a fight far beyond just counting to ten or just waving his arms. Not to mention a clear nut shot was ruled a "kd" so it also directly affected the scoring.
