George Foreman more impressed with Ruiz than Wilder
George Foreman More Impressed With Ruiz Than Wilder - Boxing News
I agree. When a biased black man favors a Mexican over his own, that means a lot.
Re: George Foreman more impressed with Ruiz than Wilder
I'm not sure I'll ever fall asleep during a Wilder fight...that being said, George is old and his eye sight and appartently his brain is going. We'll see how this pans out because I think it's too early to tell...but George couldn't make a burger on his novelty grill fast enough to stuff it in his mouth before talking...Is this really about race?
Re: George Foreman more impressed with Ruiz than Wilder
And what of Foreman's first 30 or so fights? Chuvalo does not count he was beyond done.
Re: George Foreman more impressed with Ruiz than Wilder
Doesn't surprise me, Ruiz is a more "Foreman-esque" fighter. Ruiz's win over Joe Hanks was pretty impressive
Re: George Foreman more impressed with Ruiz than Wilder
I'm pretty sure Lyle just called Ruiz "A fatty" ;D
Really though, I like Foremans assessment and the fact he isn't being a hype man for power given his own reputation. Ruiz does have boxing talent and it helps to not have some imaginary knockout "0" over his head as a budding young heavyweight. He wasn't slighting Wilder, using 'hope' for Wilder even at this stage is fair.

It surprised the heck out of me. I thought for sure Hanks would beat him.
Ruiz's win over Hanks is a better win than anything Wilder has on his CV.
Re: George Foreman more impressed with Ruiz than Wilder
Well Ruiz stepped up and took out a fellow solid contender in his prime, whereas Wilder has been destroying stiffs.

Look at how Ruiz throws his punches, he's a clubber like Foreman.
I thought Hanks would at least challenge Ruiz, but God he looked horrible that night, maybe intimidated a bit.

Hello Boxing Fans, To introduce myself I am a former boxer/trainer/manager/judge.
Sounds to me like George has some type of personal reason for saying this. It just seems strange like an emotional piece of the puzzle is missing??? Which is very un George Forman Like (At least the older version) Did Deonty spark something bringing out old demons George may still have? Interesting. Any Thoughts?

Lyle has still not got over what happened 37 years ago. When he hears or reads the name Foreman he starts swinging wildly in his cell, whilst bouncing off the floor! ;)
Re: George Foreman more impressed with Ruiz than Wilder
Maybe Deonty reminds him of his old self?

Big George might have something personal against Wilder but I dont think his statements are off anyways.
Wilder may be better promoted but people in the know put more stock into Ruiz I bet..
Ive been high on Ruiz since the first time i saw him live at the Home Depot Center..

It's the weight thing that made me doubt. However, clearly the dude has at least some boxing skill.
Re: George Foreman more impressed with Ruiz than Wilder
Ruiz is fearless and fights rough like Foreman, even in the clinches he is pounding the stuffing out of Hanks' ribs. Thats why George likes him. As for Wilder........puhhhhh-LEASE!!!!!
Re: George Foreman more impressed with Ruiz than Wilder
There are whispers of him faving " Maskaev " next..
WIlder's bum tour is going to get old real quick just like Gary Russell's..
Re: George Foreman more impressed with Ruiz than Wilder
Like most fighters as out of shape as Ruiz is, with a good punch, he will fall short.
His career will look similar to Arreolas, if he even gets that good of a career.

I agree with the first part because he doesnt look in the best physical condition even with a good record behind him. I think hes gonna have to get in a lot better shape if he's going to step up to the top.

i think this also and just feel there are "other" reasons for george's comments besides regular talent etc. Something has pushed his emotional button and these comments, in my opinion, are un-foreman like even if they held merit.
