David Price splits with trainer.
I think the next move for Price should be to split up with Maloney as well. He needs a completely new start IMO and he needs to stop fighting in Liverpool where there are high expectations of him.
Where do u think price should go from here? Maybe going abroad to get away from distractions would help but would Price want to do that? If he didn't who would be good for him in the UK?
Re: David Price splits with trainer.
I agree, id like to see him with a different promoter
he needs to be with a promoter where he isn't center of attention for a few fights
im not sure fighting away from Liverpool totally I agree with, perhaps a couple of undercard fights, or maybe a fight abroad then come back for an undercard fight

He needs to get back to winning ways and working on improving his weaknesses.
who knows what the best approach is
Re: David Price splits with trainer.
He needs a good conditioning coach that's for sure. Gassing out in the early rounds on the world stage is unforgiveable.
Re: David Price splits with trainer.
If Price has a good following in Liverpool then he should stay there. He needs to learn how to handle the pressure and expectation anyway. Price can get back to where he was with little problem it is the next step to world class that he may struggle with.
Re: David Price splits with trainer.
He could still beat Fury tomorrow. He has now proved there is nothing wrong with his chin. Nailed on future world champ. FACT.
Re: David Price splits with trainer.
This seems to be a trend amongs today's young fighters. Soon as you lose a fight, just blame it on the trainer and replace him. Fuckin rubbish..
That big goof isn't going to be much of a factor I dont think.
Re: David Price splits with trainer.
Yup. Split with his PROMOTER, first of all.
Price's trainer could have been kept, but I can understand him wanting to split.
Adam Booth seems to be the PREMIER trainer in the UK at this time. He should also look into Ingle as well.
Price can EASILY go to Canada or the USA and get good stiffs by the boatloads. Nothing too fancy, but def a better crop of journeymen and stiffs he can bang up on if he wants to keep up a 3-4 fight a year regimen.
The fight with Thompson just shouldn't have been made, at any time or point. It was the wrong fight for Price and it showed his trainer's arrogance and his promoter's greed.

Wrong in terms of Thompson's skill level and frame of mind before the fight. Thompson wasn't a dejected Wlad victim. He REALLY felt- and ought he should- that he fought the best in Wlad and anyone else below that caliber of fighter, which Price is/was and a host of other guys, would have been no match for him to that extent.
I think it's clear that Wlad and Vitali are thee best out there. Clearly. No one- as does Thompson- should feel bad that they lost to Wlad.
Plus, Thompson brutalized other fringe contenders before he fought Wlad again and then Price, twice. So he clearly wasn't lacking confidence.
In addition- Price was simply not ready for that level of competition. He simply wasn't ready and Thompson felt that- and mustered all of his courage and pride to not lose to someone of Price's resume in the game.
Price was simply not ready, in frame of mind or skill level or experience, for those Thompson fights.
Re: David Price splits with trainer.
A big change is good for the psyche as well I think. Gives Price and the public the feeling of a "fresh start". It's worth a shot, Price has undeniable skill and potential.

Price is just too stiff, to be honest with you. He appeared stiffer than Thompson was during their fights, and Thompson was old enough to be his father.
Price had better get some mobility and fluidity, or else he would always be a sitting duck for a puncher with a wing-span over 6 ft. 2. Just enough to get inside and tag him a few times- because it's clear that as he gets tagged, his stamina decreases tremendously and he doesn't recover well- made worse because he is so stiff and lacks mobility, which means once he gets tagged, starts to lag, he's gonna get tagged again and again until he either quits or goes down for the count!
Re: David Price splits with trainer.
David Price should pack up, move to America, train with Jonathan Banks and get his mind right. He's got to work on stamina, he's got to work on defense, and he's got to work on his psyche. He has to know that there will be bumps in the road ahead but if he sticks to his game plan of controlling pace, using his size to his advantage, and simply winning rounds he will win more often than not. If Price can pump the jab for 12 rounds, work on his defense, and be mentally stronger than he has been then I could see him achieving exactly what he set out to do win the titles. (albeit after the Klitschko's retire).
Tony Thompson is no slouch, he's a good boxer. He just is the heavyweight version of Winky Wright, he had no fan pull, he had nothing spectacular about his skill set but he's just a very good boxer and a guy it's easy to sleep on.
Re: David Price splits with trainer.
I think calling Thompson the heavyweight Winky Wright is a massive massive compliment ;D
For a relitive novice to get sparked and then unravel against the guy that sparked you is forgivable.
The big danger for Price is that he implodes against someone other than Thompson. If that happens it really is game over I reckon, he just aint got it.
Re: David Price splits with trainer.
Anybody with that kind of size, power and skill should be deemed a solid prospect. But he's got gaping holes in his game that he needs to fill in.

I agree, Price is not impressing me.
