Do you think Quillin is a better fighter than a prime Jermaine Taylor?
Re: Do you think Quillin is a better fighter than a prime Jermaine Taylor?
No, at least not yet. A prime JT went head to head with Hopkins and beat Winky Wright. Quillin's claim to fame is a close win over N'Jikam, thus far. The problem is that Quillin's people haven't done jack for his career in the past year. While other middleweights are on the rise, Barker/GGG, even Geale in loss, Quillin's career stagnates. Heck, it even seems likes Hatton is doing a better job for Murray.

What in the world are you smoking? Quillin is the WBO champ. No one wants to fight.
The only fights out there that folks would take serious at this stage are fights with GGG/Ward (step up in weight) and Martinez. I think Murray would take the fight too. But Barker would duck and so would anyone else at MW and S-MW.

You must be the one who's smoking something. Noone would duck him after watching the N'dam fight. There's plent of good fights for him, his team just won't fork out the cash. Macklin, Murray, Stevens would all fight him
No one wants to see Mucklin fight anyone. ANYONE!!! Barker will duck. Stevens will duck- it's a no-win for him. High risk, low rewards.
Murray may take the fight. But other than the names I said, no one wants to get in their with Quillin. At least any name of real note. Which there aren't much at this stage.
Re: Do you think Quillin is a better fighter than a prime Jermaine Taylor?
"Right money" for these UK fighters is usually some ridiculous amount that there not even close to being worth

Well thats a crock of shit. Why don't you just be a man, admit you are just being an apologist for Quillin, and stop ducking the real crux of the argument.
Fighters are worth what they can draw through the gate and by the amount of viewers who will tune in and watch. Quillin meanwhile sits on his hands while his promoters can't sell his overhyped arse for peanuts.
And how good do Barker, Macklin and Murray draw?

Can you repeat that in English ?

Quillin is in an unfortunate position because most of the middleweight division is fighting on HBO these days and Golden Boy isn't offering enough money to make the rest of the division fight Quillin on Showtime. Mora has offered his services to Quillin. That's as good a fight as Quillin will get at middleweight right now.
Why would Barker duck Quillin if he got in the ring with Martinez and Geale? Makes no sense, especially after Quillin's performance against N'Dam, which was fine, but showed his limitations at the top level.
Re: Do you think Quillin is a better fighter than a prime Jermaine Taylor?
No, but I think Taylor was only really great in a few fights, and we don't know whether Quillin likes getting knocked out as well yet. It's not really a fair question.
I'd also imagine that Murray, or certainly Barker, would be at least close to even money in a Quillin fight. "Kid chocolate" doesn't seem to have much of a following and those guys will get domestic support, simple as.

Quillin's power and grit... Martinez isn't power anymore. Geale is not ever a power puncher or someone to be afraid of. Quillin and GGG are.
I would take a fight against Andre Ward before I take a fight against Quillin or GGG.
Re: Do you think Quillin is a better fighter than a prime Jermaine Taylor?
Geale can obviously punch enough, that body shot that dropped Barker was savage. Don't think I've seen Quillin hit with anything like that, he hasn't been in with great punchers himself.

I can't say whether or not QUillin is a better fighter yet but I do agree that Jermaine was a beast! despite the controversy, he did stop Hopkins' winning streak and beat him again in a rematch. Anybody who fights neck and neck with an 06 Hopkins is pretty dam special in my eyes.
The Pavlik fight was fuckin wild and Jermaine could have easily been the one to score the KO.. Pavlik was about to go at one point and I dont think anybody hurt him as badly as Jermaine did..
I think we can agree that he was schooling Froch until his stamina gave in.. Froch sucks
Peter Quillin is more sound fundamentally but I dont know if he has that dog in him like Jermaine..
Oh btw, these Brit guys give me a chuckle when they say Macklin, MUrray, and Geale would give Jermaine a good fight. lol Those guys are B level fighters and a prime Jermaine wouldnt have had too much trouble with them.
Jermaine knocks Geale's sorry ass out easily.. Easy fight.
Macklin has B level written all over him and he doesn't have a single arsenal in his game that would trouble Jermaine..
Murray is pretty tough but he's nothing that Jermaine has never seen before..

I don't even pay Brit-fans the type of attention they are seeking... JT was killing Froch. If only he had run that 12th round- it would have been an easy win. At least take a knee and then get another point for tossing Froch, or hitting him in the nuts- something!
Anyways... it's all history now.
And, special note: Barker beating Geale is NO huge achievement. All of this talk reminds me of the Arturo Gatti hype when he fought DLH and even moreso when he fought Mayweather- only when he was totally disgraced and relegated to the B-Class fighter he truly was, then we recognized that pumping up cannon fodder still makes them cannon fodder!!!

But, N'Dam outboxed Quillin for most of their fight. Under your theory, not mine, you can't change cannon fodder. Right?

I dont know what your grype is here. Noone has talked up Barker except Greenbeanz. All we have said is that he wont be scared to fight Quillin because A) Barker is a lot better then N'dam and B) N'dam was out boxing Quilling for large parts of that fight. I personally dont rate Barker but he certainl isnt a coward and he does have some skills. Quillin should stop Barker but if Barker fights to his best it will not be easy for Quillin. The fact is Barker, Macklin, Murray are among the best Middleweights at the moment. Outside Martinez (possibly cant include him anymore because of his age) and GGG, and possibly Quillin (yet to prove himself yet) there is not much in that division and there is noone that the 3 Brits would not give a good fight. The 3 Brits put up a far better fights against Martinez then Chavez did. Chavez had one good round, the last and that was it. So get your fucking head out of your ass and stop commenting on regions and just comment on fighters.
Re: Do you think Quillin is a better fighter than a prime Jermaine Taylor?
From his 16th fight on.
Taylor
16-Cervera 35/3
17-Cervera 22/5
18-Martinez 13/4
19-Rios 23/4
20-Bunema 24/3
21-Marquez 35/2
22-Joppy 34/3
23-Edouard 16/0
24-Hopkins 46/2 had not lost since Jones in 93(12 years) and was the real and perhaps last truly unified champion.

26-Wright 50/3
27-Ouma 25/2
28-Spinks 36/3
29-Pavlik 31/0 suffers his first loss.
30-Pavlik 32/0 loses again 5 months after he was stopped
31-Lacy 24/1 his first fight at 168
32-Froch 24/0 shame he could not have held on for 14 seconds
33-Abraham 30/0
Quillin
16-Lowry 27/7
17-Brown 11/3
18-Echols 31/7

22-Dejardin 7/18
23-Sharpe 17/5
24-Brinkley 35/6
25-LeHoullier 21/5
26-McEwan 19/1
27-Wright 51/5
28-Njikam 27/0
29-Guerrero F.25/1
Any questions?
Re: Do you think Quillin is a better fighter than a prime Jermaine Taylor?
Ignore the silly Brits, those fuckers are always in denial, everyone knows Jermaine beat Froch's ass good and proper, knockouts don't mean shit in boxing. Fact.
