Sir David Frost
Sir David Frost, who has died aged 74, began his career in television satirising the patrician Establishment and ended it with a knighthood, a duke as a father-in-law and a reputation as the television personality politicians on both sides of the Atlantic most wanted to be interviewed by.

Grew up listening to him, I liked his style, Rip MR Frost.

Peter Cook will be somewhere up there saying 'About bloody time!'. I on the other hand, think that would be a bit mean. Frost was alright, but certainly no satirist. He will rightly be remembered for his popular interviews.

His entire spiel was 100% ripped off from Peter Cook. Peter Cook is an excellent person to copy if you are trying to be funny, but David Frost was never in a million years Peter Cook funny. It was like a Mini trying to pass as a Porsche. He just wasn't a very good comedian and got lucky. Very lucky as Peter Cook was busy touring America and should have been on TV instead of Frost.
David Frost had something that Peter Cook didn't and that was the ability to show an interest in other people and that was why he was a quality interviewer. It is a fantastic skill to have too. Peter Cook was quite the opposite and that is why he failed as an interview host (his failed show eventually became Parkinson). Frost could show interest and warmth, whilst Cook was much more self absorbed and aloof.
They were very much opposites really and just as Peter Cook will always be remembered for great comedy, Frost will be remembered mostly for his interviews. I think posterity will largely remember it that way.
