Beltran just got shafted
That was a disgrace ,Burns should be an ex champion , out worked , out fought , Beltran landed all the clean correct shots , and they came up with a draw ?
Disgrace.

Re: Beltran just got shafted
The subdued atomosphere from his home crowd says it all

Burns won rounds 1 and 12 , tjats it. Beltran did plenty enough to win that UD, Burns corner was close to stopping it. Terrible.
-
Re: Beltran just got shafted
I scored it 114-114
Most of the pundits scored it close.
Not that bad a decision.
Beltran missed a lot with all those flurrys on the ropes.
However burns should have been deducted for holding, if he had, I'd have scored it to Beltran.

I asked this more generally in the other thread, but how can you score it 114-114 when there was one kd?

If ray did anything wrong, it's that he wasn't aggressive enough when he had burns hurt, but he won every bit of 8-9 rounds. I would even give you that burns won 11-12 but after the first round , Burns had nothing. Terrible robbery

Math and spatial reasoning are not exactly my forte, but does that mean you had Burns winning 6 rounds in addition to the 10-10 round?

Re: Beltran just got shafted
I had it 114-113 Beltran. Had Burns winning 5-2 after 7 , but Beltran dominated from that point on. Close fight but Beltran at least should have won himself a rematch in Mexico.

Ha! Burns doesn't have the balls to rematch in Mexico. Or the US.

Gotta agree. There is no word really between getting the nod in a close one like say Quartey/Oscar and robbery. This was not a close fight.

well unlike your boy Ortiz he went the full 12 rounds with a broken jaw, he didn't quit in a fight he was winning to pretty much a nobody, so wouldn't talk too much shit if I was you lol

he was 13 and 0 going in against a 2 division champ, Gonzalez got his ass whooped but didn't get spoon fed like your boys Canelo and Chavez Jr who had 40+ fights when they started taking on fringe contenders, shot former champions, and basically the whole cast of the first season of The Contender :-X

I'm talking about the other quitting Puerto Rican. Burns last opponent. Who was winning the fight but quit when Burns decided to fight back.

Re: Beltran just got shafted
I had it 3-3 after 6 and for all the tools that laughed at the scorecard at that point show me difference. After that Beltran ran away with the fight. Having 4 people calling themselves world champions is paper enough. What happened tonight merely reduces that paper to the thickness of rice made. Ricky needs to save face. No tuneup. No bullshit. Rematch.

I haven't watched the fight yet was out on the piss but I backed Beltran at 4/1 and the draw at 40/1 so in a happy camper. Sounds pretty poor decision but I've said it for a while burns is so overrated. Just isn't top world level. I always felt Lundy was better then him

Re: Beltran just got shafted
This sucks. I feared this would happen, didn't get to see the fight yet as it wasn't aired here, least to my knowledge.
Poor Beltran, this is the third time he's been robbed now.
Bogere, Ramos and now this.

Re: Beltran just got shafted
Burns fight plan went through the window, after his jaw got injured but he did do the 12 rounds
did he win, I don't think so but I'm not judging fight,!
As for it being a shit decision yes maybe, was it a robbery if your the victim [Beltran] yes if your
watching not so much, lucky I would call it and you can't beat a bit of luck can you.;)

Beltran was mugged , I thought he'd give Burns big problems and he did. He scored a knockdown but still people score the fight a draw?
I gave Burns 4 rounds last night at most, he should do a rematch but I cant see it and think Beltran would win it by stoppage too ;-)

Yeh 4 rounds is fair, but I think Burns could win a rematch. DEPENDS HOW MUCH THE JAW AFFECTED HIM, BUT IT LOOKED LIKE A LOT!
oops caps
-
Re: Beltran just got shafted
I have to agree if Beltran couldn't get a guy focused on merely protecting a broken jaw out of there in ten rounds then I don't see him walking it in a rematch. Burns is a much better fighter than he was last night and revisionist calls suggesting that he was overrated are ignoring great performances against Moses, Katsidis and Mitchell. The one unequivocal thing we learnt last night was that incompetent/corrupt Judging is not the reserve of Texas and Germany and Jocks are way harder, and much less likely to quit than Mexican Americans. :-X

he can't do either, he's too busy taking turns sucking Chavez Jr, JMM, Canelo, and Margarito's dicks, don't try to make the poor boy to do anything else unfamiliar to himself

Re: Beltran just got shafted
I thought Beltran was a class act in the post fight interview in his dressing room. Obviously he was gutted but he called it exactly how it was, Not Burns' fault but clearly politics, money & promoter power kept Ricky his belt.
Not making excuses for Ricky as I was gutted for Beltran, but here's an X-ray of his broken jaw. Big props to Burns for continuing with that, total clean break which must've been agony

I concur, Beltran was a class act and you have to feel gutted for him. Burns showed a lot of bottle though to fight ten rounds in that amount of pain. I remember his trainer Billy Nelson giving him grief saying "stop moaning, you are a champion and you only have to fight for 6 more minutes" or something like that :-\
Here is a bigger pic of Ricky's X-Ray.

Re: Beltran just got shafted
Burns is courageous, but courageous men lose fights too. He lost last night. Hearns should make the rematch. In any event, Beltran should move up in the rankings for that performance.

Re: Beltran just got shafted
How is 115-112 or 114-113 a not close fight. Most people scored it 115-112 from what I see.
