There is a large part of me that wants to see Salido splinter Lomachenkonewguys ass simply because...he is legit champ being put up as a pawn and doormat here. "Earn" a shot....hahaha???

This guy is on the fast tracks ey. He's moving faster than Kazuto Ioka and Inoue.. That's pretty amazing.
But Arum better not get ahead of himself cuz Salido is always dangerous. I can't believe he'd risk a top prospect against somone like Salido.
It wouldnt be a surprise to see Lomachenko get wrecked. Salido is a hard ass veteran who has seen it all. This is one of the guys in boxing who came up the hard way and became a real fighter over time. Fighters like this are very dangerous.
A very tough 2nd pro fight for Vasyl. A title fight.

I am no lover of fast tracking boxers into Title shots,! but Lomachenko is a different beast
It will be a tough fight against Salido.
But one I feel he will win, this fighter is extremely good he has the moves and it seems the
punch, Salido is your typical hard nut Mexican beatable, but if your not up to it he will batter

Lomachenko looked the real and I think he'd beat Salido on points. Massive ask for a guys second pro fight but he looks that good
But is Lomanchenko REALLY an amateur, in the purest sense of the term? From his entrance and whipping through the WSB tournament, I'd say he is a little more than just a beginner or novice.
His 396 am' fights, winning 395 and beating the guy who gave him his only lost twice afterwards show's he is not just a mere, average talent.
From what I saw last night he is something very, very special. I like it.
I thinks I may have warmed up to the WSB system afterall.

Personally I LOVE it. A lot of these great olympic prospects come into the pro game, and they are brought up so carefully that it takes YEARS before we actually get to see them in a real fight.
If this guy can blitz a guy like Ramirez in his first official pro fight, and wants to take on a brutal warrior like Salido in his second, I say GREAT.
I know amateurs and pros are totally different games, but when you have an amateur resume like Lomachenko, that gives you SERIOUS credibility.
This is why looking at just WINS-LOSSES on a pro record is a waste of time. Say Lomachenko by some chance beats Salido (for the record, I think it's waay too soon for that). Lomachenko would then be 2-0 as a pro. On paper..... does that compare with a 40-0 record? Hell no. But then, add the variable of opponents. A 2-0 record against Ramirez and Salido is a hell of a lot better than a 40-0 record against the town drunks, second cousins, and bums making their own pro debuts. Boxing needs regulation.
Lomachenko will win this. No doubt in my mind. Lot of people here dont recognise the skill in amateur boxing and how well it translates to the pros. It doesnt matter how many fights Lomachenko has as a pro when it comes to fighting someone like Salido. This will go very much like Salido v Garcia.
Its comical the people moaning about Lomachenko being fast tracked are the same people who complain about fighters getting moved to slowly. Lomachenko is very good news for professional boxing
Arum had a coup in my estimation. Arum will be the one to bring quality foreigners to US soil.
If he beats Salido, his 2-0 record will be more impressive than Deontay Wilder's 30-0 record (or whatever the fuck he has).Quote:

Quality over quantity. There is a line between padding and refining though and not every guy can ride gold medals into a million dollar payday from jump off. Lets not kid ourselves, Arum is riding his ama promise not his professional accomplishment. Its another planet in pros, as much mentally as physical and Lomachenko has zero room to fall if it goes sideways. I also think its a slap to Salido and guys who have done nothing but grind and earn there bones and scars. The guy becomes champion and in less than 24 hrs Arum props him up as nothing more than a belt warmer. Salido better bring his own judges, own ref and maybe a bat. On the other extreme a guy like Wilder a has don nothing...and he also won a Gold medal.

Totally agree there, Salido just got pretty beat down and the trinket was just forfeited by Garcia. So does Lomanchenko beating him really legitimize? But Salido had done his time and earned his keep at least. It was all in the plot having Lomanchenko on the card and it was either Cruz or Salido. I just don't see Lomanchenko as having earned it either. I'm weary of a boxing world where I'm reading amatuers records to pass for pro credentials and no need to Pete Radamacher-ize the sport. Arum saw that body shot Lom hit Ramirez with in Lom's gym against his sparring partners... the guy (Lomanchenko) can pour it on, no doubt.
I liked what I saw from Lomachenko last night. The skill set is obvious. His style is all wrong for Salido. It would be the Garcia fight all over. It was good to see Salido bash the fag. But against Lomachenko I think he's the one getting bashed
the thing with saildo is that he doesnt quit. even when he seems to be losing, he will get better as the fight goes on. if you watched the garcia fight, he started doing well before the fight got stopped. the question is then can lomachenko withstand a late fight surge?
Whatever happens against Salido, Lomachenko isnt going to have it easy and he's going to have to earn the victory cuz Salido is going to pressure him constantly. Loma's heart and durability is going to be tested here.
Huge fan of Salido and I hope he kicks Loma's ass.
it isnt just the fight against salido thats the issue, he has to sustain it then and stay at that level

Given the expectations and weight put on this kid it'll be very very difficult to go backwards and hit reset if things go sideways, as they often do in the ring on any given night. He obviously has pedigree but its not been plied in extreme fire. To me, this is far far more about Bob Arum than it is Lomanchenko and there just isn't a need. He's THAT quality build, dust a couple top contenders and expand the general fan base beyond hardcore fans. Fighting fights early doesnt mean they have to be 'stiffs'. Ffs let the kid fight to be seen and enjoy the fruits of his labor. Straight out of the pan into the fire and you do not get to 'learn backwards'.Quote:

What I suspect many people don't know is you regularly fight better fighters in the amateurs if you are a top amateur. The prep fights are against bums in comparison to the talent you fought as an amateur. The point of those prep fights is to get used to different gloves , no headgear, and to alter your style to suit the pros. It is by no means to get used to pro talent. If he's demonstrated behind the scenes he's comfortable with the differences from amateur to pro then there is no need to prepare him. So get it on, Salido is going to get sacrificed.

For an elite amateur he seemed to leave himself squared up on the inside a lot in his first fight. Salido is going to get plenty of opportunities to land punches. This is a hell of a tough fight for your second pro fight no matter who you are.
does anybody else think that maybe he should take a few more fights first? maybe not super easy fights but take a salido fight maybe in the summer. he can get a 5 more fights in that time period against solid competition that may not have much of a chance to beat him, but will give him a couple more professional rounds. but maybe others see what i dont see and he doesnt need the experience.
I never understand this? He gets better experience sparring then fighting opponents he will beat easy. Its clear he doesnt care about padding his rec with easy wins and I for one think its very refreshing to seeQuote:
