Due to a bad style match up Joe wins a decision. Joe had much faster feet n slightly faster hands n would've slapped his way to a boring decision. James never liked chasing a fighter down. He preferred guys who came at him n tried to knock him out. Busy guys who moved a lot like Roy, Montell, Reggie Johnson...etc. frustrated him.

How the ko of Nunn can be a negative is beyond logic. He was a 20-1 underdog behind and the only reason Nunn fell asleep was he began sponging right hands in his after thought southpaw style. He got wrecked in one of the better kos of the year. Zero fluke about that win. Same with McCallum 1 as far as a chess match on paper turned brawl that Toney was pulling away with at the end. Toney was a fighting champion and kept busy like few at the time. The Griffin 1 fight was an out and out rob job. Toney had a fat mouth before an era of clowns who have proven far less but expect to be thought of the same ability, a great self promoter and while he could be faulted with timing out rounds in the last minute no one else sat in the pocket and rolled off 6' counters at his best then. He beat Peter in the 1st...the Jirov demolition was a very solid disection of a respected champ and one of the better body punchers going in the sport...Toney got fat in the brain and slack and unlike many I don't blame "being blown up" weight wise vs Jones jr, Jones did a great job of out mind fucking Toney like no other and James got got before the bell rang, then he got outclassed and lost. Beyond logic? Nunn was winning easily. Toney was getting raped. Again I watched the mans career and stand by what I said. McCallum was a few fights away from retirement . Jirov is the best fight on Toneys bed post. I dont hate the guy but he's nowhere near the claims. He just never really accomplished much.
