Froch - Groves to meet on Sky Ringside special
This coming thursday evening
This is gonna be very interesting and I think Groves is already winning the war of words and Froch has been biting back of recent while Groves just stays calm.
No doubt at all Groves learnt these mind games from Adam Booth and they seem to be working.

These are serious questions.
What do you think about the mind games? Do you like to watch and listen when two fighters go head to head?
Have you ever watched a fight because the trash talking made it more interesting to you?
When you watch the fight do you look for them (your fighter) to make good on their boasts?
Do you watch all the prefight buildup you can?
Do you believe the most articulate fighter is the smarter fighter and that translates into a fighter with a higher boxing IQ?
I'm asking because I rarely watch the prefight buildup, especially when it's two fighters talking with a table between them.
I enjoy reading what other boxing fans have to say before, during and after the fight.
Just wondering why everybody seems to enjoy all the prefight BS more than I do.

Plenty of fighters have already lost before they even set foot in the ring and yeah i love boxing and watch as much as i can be it documentaries, build ups, interviews and of course the fights ;-)

Re: Froch - Groves to meet on Sky Ringside special
If Froch ko's Groves in 3, I wouldn't be shocked , but also if Groves explodes some real bombs on Carl then it could be interesting , im liking this matchup.
-
Froch is in a real fight here and he knows it ;-)
-
Re: Froch - Groves to meet on Sky Ringside special
This should not be PPV this is a disgrace.

The card is shocking too. Typical matchroom style. Anything they can do to get more money. It's a fucking disgrace.

This sold out in 11 mins , huge demand obviously ;-)

Re: Froch - Groves to meet on Sky Ringside special
I hope Groves beats the shit out of him, I feel so much better now.;D
-
Re: Froch - Groves to meet on Sky Ringside special
Whenever they come together they just repeat the same old shit.
It will be great if one of them gives the other a smack in the mouth and it all kicks off with Johnny trying to break 'em up whilst Adam crawls around on his hands and knees screaming for security.
-
Froch is adamant he knocked him out cold in sparring once and just dismisses him as not worthy and just a boy.
I dont think I've ever seen Froch this vocal with anyone.
I hope Groves doesnt brush his teeth again and cranks things up a level verbally.
I still think Froch is taking him way too lightly though ;-)
-
Re: Froch - Groves to meet on Sky Ringside special
Apparently every man and his dog has ironed Groves out in sparring. He doesn't even deny getting knocked down by Froch though, DeGale taunted him with it throughout the build-up to their fight.
-
Re: Froch - Groves to meet on Sky Ringside special
I think there is a real good chance that this looks like a man beating up a boy. I must say though that I have seen a steady improvement with Groves and it could be that Frochs battle scares show up in this fight like an old Tom cat. This could be a Foty candidate as well.
-
Re: Froch - Groves to meet on Sky Ringside special
Froch hasnt really improved. Hes learnt to start faster and thats it. He can still be confused with movement.
I dont think much of Groves but I am starting to think he could be a nightmare for Froch.
-
Re: Froch - Groves to meet on Sky Ringside special
Froch relies to much on his chin, and he may just get sparked and he can be hit tough fighters
can fall to bits, when there chin say enough is a enough Froch may be at that point you never
NO .;)
-
Re: Froch - Groves to meet on Sky Ringside special
Groves can hit hard and has good movement ,
Froch has iron chin ,is easy to hit , and doesn't like movers ,
Groves has weaker chin ,
Froch has power.
This could be a good hard fight, don't think its an easy fight for Froch..

Re: Froch - Groves to meet on Sky Ringside special
Groves is getting KTFO, end of discussion.
-
Re: Froch - Groves to meet on Sky Ringside special
Groves will probably loose but he will cause Froch some problems, he said today on sky sports that he will be the first man to stop him. He also said he was knocked down by Froch right hand but he got back up and continued. He said he schooled him a couple of days later before he went on to lose to Kessler.

Re: Froch - Groves to meet on Sky Ringside special
This should be great viewing.
I've never seen Froch so wound up by an opponent before & I'm wondering what Groves has done to rile him up so much?
-
Re: Froch - Groves to meet on Sky Ringside special
I think it's groves thinking he has a chance of winning ... Because that's winding me up a lot too.

That is exactly what groves wants, a Froch/Tam riled up and losing control, so groves can out box him and win a decision. :)
-
Really thought Froch was gonna bite at the end there.
:-)

Re: Froch - Groves to meet on Sky Ringside special
Groves is in a win/win situation here. The kid deserves major props for taking such a big step up at this stage in his career. Such challenges are rare these days to say the least. If he loses it wont hurt his future at all. He gets a nice payday and the loss will be credited to lack of experience. And lets face it he's expected to lose. Froch is the guy with all the pressure here and by the sounds of things he's unraveling a bit. That bodes well for Groves
-
Re: Froch - Groves to meet on Sky Ringside special
I still think the gulf in class will be evident on the night. I like George Groves but his face was a bloody mask against Degale after eating only a few shots. George will eat a lot more against Froch and they are going to sting a lot more.
-
Re: Froch - Groves to meet on Sky Ringside special
I can't help thinking that Groves is acting a lot like James Degale did before their fight. But still, he's playing up to his young pretender role and I don't think Carl Froch likes it too much
-
Im a massIve Froch fan but Iagree with what Barry Hearn said..
No one really knows what Groves is capable of as he's never been in with anyone like Froch before.
I really do think this could go either way but a sharp in Form Froch should do the business from what we've seen of Groves but has Groves gor another level in him?
Cant wait for this one could be fight of the year this.
-
Re: Froch - Groves to meet on Sky Ringside special
Groves was annoying as fuck, but he deffo won the war of words imo. Can't see him winning though

I don't know how anyone can like Froch. He's such a tool
-
I think Adam Booth will be in Groves corner on fight night, I think this "split" is part of the mind games to fuck with Frochs head.
;-)
-
Re: Froch - Groves to meet on Sky Ringside special
Honestly, Froch didn't know how to deal with Groves on Ringside there. I think Groves has won this. Froch has taken this too personally, and I can see him boxing the wrong fight just because he's so pissed off and intent on knocking him out. I feel quite certain @Tam Seddon will be changing his sig.
;D

I still think Adam Booth is gonna pop up around the weigh in and be in Groves corner.
I also think Froch is so wound up he's gonna lose focus and look for an early ko and lose this on points.

Shameful trying to steal someone elses thoughts @Greenbeanz. I bet you thought you and @IamInuit were 2 beans in a pod.
I'll get my coat.

Agree with the 'Booth' part, but can't see George winning!

I think he can outbox Froch but if he stands toe to toe Froch wins by KO.
This might just come down to who can keep their head. ;-)

Re: Froch - Groves to meet on Sky Ringside special
People close to the Booth camp and the boxing media keep denying the split is a stunt.
The best thing about that show was seeing Herbie Hide attack Danny Williams at a press conference even though he wasn't fighting him. That's how proper mentals react to a bit of trash talk.
"Are you gonna cry Froch" was as cringeworthy as Carl's facial expressions.
-
Re: Froch - Groves to meet on Sky Ringside special
Froch got owned but talk is cheap.

Groves was just trying to get a reaction out of Froch that Froch wasn't willing to give him. He doesn't need to because as soon as they are in the ring Groves won't be able to talk he will just be getting plain knocked out. I really don't like him at all and I don't even see this being close.

Re: Froch - Groves to meet on Sky Ringside special
I don't like the way Groves has conducted himself but I do believe he's doing a good psyche job and he's selling the fight. Carl is old school and I hope he wins because he's been such an amazing pro. I think a lot of people will think Carl being wound up will help George. It may have the opposite effect, look what happened to Bute when Carl started fast.. if he does.
These are all ifs, whys and I don't mind if I don'ts.. I honestly don't know what to expect from Groves and that's what makes this an interesting fight.. I thought he did well to beat Degale and I was cheering him on in that fight as Degale was such an plonker at the time .. but he looked far from comfortable and maybe he is just following that blueprint as that's his best win to date.
Bring it on.;)
The tension on ringside was genuine.

Re: Froch - Groves to meet on Sky Ringside special
Froch was just bizarre in that interview. Maybe it was all show and performance, but he seemed to be going through some kind of mental collapse. It was really weird. Groves, the cocky little undefeated simpleton, and there is Froch, the man who fights everyone, biting on his lip, in an effort to hold himself in. Either that was pantomime or else Froch knows he is getting old and can't bottle it up, or else he is genuinely angry.
All very odd.
