Has mad potential.. what do you think of him?
Verdejo lost to Lomachenko in the latest Olympics, but in very respectable fashion, and at the age of 19. He also had a very good showing on the Pac-Rios undercard, in only his 9th pro fight. He's a promising young talent, and should go far.
Loma and Verdejo have both showed good transition from amateur to pro. That's not always the case with highly-touted amateurs. Both will go far in the pros, and it's not too far-fetched to think they may very well face each other sometime in the future.
Needs to up the competition level and fight more often. He's fighting nothing but bums. Who gives a fuck if he's only 19. That didn't stop muthafukkas from talking about Alvarez competition. At 19 he already had 27 fights. And was facing solid veterans like Euri Gonzalez and Michel Rosales. And he didn't have the Olympic experience Verdejo had.
He's got talent but the guys he's fought so far are not the type that would cause concern. Definitely one to watch
LMFAO!!
Do yourself a favor and stick to arguments you have a snowball's chance in hell of winning, ok? Level of f*cking competition?!? Are you really going to go there?
You know who Alvarez was fighting in his 9th pro fight? An 0-1 KO victim. Impressive, huh? It wasn't until Canelo's 13th fight that he bothered to fight someone with a winning record. His first 10 opponents had a total of 10 wins between them. A win per opponent! And all from the safety of Mexico. He didn't even bother to leave the confines of Mexico until his 23rd fight.... and that was in California.
And don't give me your tired bullshit about Olympic experience. It's the same tired old catch-all, lame excuse you use to defend the bullshit record of the other coddled one..... Junior. It's no one's fault that these two guys have chosen a career path that consists of bloating a professional record, with the ridiculous excuse that they didn't fight amateur. If you weren't so frigging blind and pathetically biased, you'd see that yourself. I can't believe you're trying to criticize Verdejo's record and compare it to Canelo's. Oh wait..... yes I can.
What's great about all this is I don't have to do a damn thing to prove your ignorance.
You do that extremely well all by yourself.
Ok lamebrain... it's obvious this is about to spiral into another "thread from hell".
So I'll make a last-ditch attempt to get you to understand logic.
Do you understand that what little you DO know about boxing gets totally obliterated by your asinine, biased, ignorant arguments? Talk about stuff you DO know, like..... well..... er..... like..... anyway, talk about stuff you DO know. But don't get into losing arguments for the hell of it. It makes you look, well..... how can I put this nicely? Less knowledgeable.
Canelo turned pro at 15. He had 20 amateur fights. Why didn't he just keep on fighting amateur? Why start padding your artificial pro record with a bunch of bums in your own backyard, never venturing out of your neighborhood till well after your 20th pro fight? Who the fuck does that, besides your two coddled heroes?
Do you understand that you cannot criticize Verdejo's opponents in his first 9 professional fights while defending Cinnamon's record without looking like a complete moron? That's the first step toward recovery. Think of it as boxing's equivalent of A.A.
"Hi... my name is VD, and I'm a complete boxing illiterate."
No need to thank me. I'm here to help. :)
I dont know about all that, Tito.. kinda sounds like you are the one crying out loud for help. Lol
Verdejo is better than gary russell...
:vd: I don't know stupid. Maybe cuz he gets paid as a pro? Fucking dumb ass. Like I said. At 19 Alvarez was facing solid pros like Euri Gonzalez and Michel Rosales. Will Verdejo be facing opposition like that any time soon? Nope. Will you bad mouth him like you did Alvarez? No. You'll just suck his dick and give lame reasons why it's different situation. Knowing damn well it's not

Next case please.
Ginger and Junior have both been brought along slowly with the sole purpose of building a misleading, padded record, without facing the level of opposition that normal fighters have. You talk age.... I talk wins and losses. Ginger never left his own backyard till well after his 20th pro fight. Hardly anyone else does this. Mexican, Puerto Rican, American, whatever. Chavez did this and so did Junior. Ginger fought bums for the first 15-20 fights of his career. This is what builds your win-loss record... not age. You can be 13 years old..... and if they pit you against the town drunk, and your cousin's sister..... you're going to amass a misleading, winning record.
There it is... black and white.
You can proceed to write all the "fucks", "dicks", and "assholes" you like. It doesn't change the facts. Deep down inside you know you're wrong, so you'll resort to your childish insults.
Cornfields or coca farm, i know ya be working hard under the scorching sun of PR and I want to thank you guys.. lol
Only thing sore is your ass after getting pounded by your faggot compadre Orlando Cruz ..
If you wanna come down and visit us in Cali, let me know so I can send you a banana boat. it'll be like the opening scene from scarface.. ;D Row row row tito! hahaha
There's no fucking rule that says a fighter has to have a long amateur career first and than turn pro. Every fighter takes a different path. You say Alvarez fought bums in his first 15-20 fights. Ok. Who the fuck was he suppose to be fighting as a 15, 16 year old? Who was Verdejo fighting at that stage in his career? Pro bums? No. He was fighting junior high and high school kids.
No... obviously you can't expect a 15-16 year old to be fighting seasoned pros, at least those with winning records. But by the same token, it's unfair to just compare wins and losses between some like Canelo, and someone who has been brought along the "normal" way.
No. Because Verdejo has not gotten to that stage in his career yet. Verdejo has 9 pro fights. By the time he gets to the 15-20 fight range, I would fully expect him to be fighting good, seasoned pros.
Some fighters get brought along at a faster pace than others. Should their records be stacked against one another simply on the basis of wins and losses? No.
You know I've always criticized some things about De La Hoya. But one thing I'll give him huge credit for is the quality of opposition he faced soon after turning pro. In his 14th pro fight, he was facing Jorge Paez for a version of the lightweight title. De La Hoya finished with a record of 39-6, which looked at strictly in terms of numbers may not seem like much. But the quality of opposition was good from damn near the beginning.
And yeah... Oscar had well over 200 amateur fights. So what? It still deceptively bloats the pro record of a fighter to have faced 40 bums in his first 40 fights, and be hyped up to be something he's not. Look at Deontay Wilder. He may be the next HW champion...... he may not. But we'll never know exactly how good he is, or CAN be, until he starts facing credible opponents.
Apples to apples.... is all I'm saying.
I see the problem. You're intent on talking about ages, while I'm going on number of pro fights. I say you can't compare ages, precisely because not everyone turns pro at the same age. Some guys decide they like to box relatively late in life, and end up turning pro in their 20's. Obviously you can't compare someone like that with say, a Canelo.... based on age. But you said that Canelo's early fights were "on the job training." These are his early pro fights. So in a way it bloats the record in a way that makes it uncomparable to "normal" pro records, is all.
It's not a clear cut argument, and one I suppose can be argued both ways.
