Arum told USA Today: "We're ready to sit down and see if a deal can be reached"
... for the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight.
Arum also commented "Who gives a sh*t about Mayweather-Khan?"

Nobody gives a rat's ass about floyd-khan except for some guys in Pakistan and some insurgents that are still around.

Re: Arum told USA Today: "We're ready to sit down and see if a deal can be reached"
Bob always says he's ready to make the fight. Then he goes and makes Pacquiao vs. Other Arum Welter. Bradley II, Marquez V, Provodnikov, Alvarado, Abregu or even Rios II will likely all happen before Mayweather.

Re: Arum told USA Today: "We're ready to sit down and see if a deal can be reached"
i wouldnt have thought that there are too many fights that would generate more money than floyd khan
-
Re: Arum told USA Today: "We're ready to sit down and see if a deal can be reached"
a floyd-khan fight is only good if it is in the UK. i know that floyd wants the fight there but i remember hearing about problems with it and that it probably couldnt happen there. if that is true then i think the fight is a total waste. khan hasnt proven himself to be the front runner in the floyd sweepstakes. although i will say that i think khan does alright in the fight until he gets KO'd.

Because British boxing fans like you are gullible and will buy anything if you wrap it up in the Union Jack?

Re: Arum told USA Today: "We're ready to sit down and see if a deal can be reached"
Floyd - Khan is a joke match-up.

No doubt, it's ridiculous that's it's even being discussed. Why doesn't Floyd fight one of the guys who beat Khan?
Khan had better thank his lucky stars he wasn't at 140 when Randall Bailey was a bit younger

Khan is a name. It would promote and sell well. Across the globe. :britain: :usa:
And speaking of gullible - Y'all better get used to the idea of a shin dig with Amir Khan because the Pacquiao fight ain't ever gonna happen. Despite whatever comes outta Arum pie hole!
-
Re: Arum told USA Today: "We're ready to sit down and see if a deal can be reached"
I don't think Floyd can fight in the UK because his contract with Showtime is exclusive to the MGM in Las Vegas. The good thing about the deal though is that it pressures him to take the biggest fights around like Pacquiao, however we've heard it all before so don't hold your breath.
-
Sick of all this floyd/pac stuff.
Whats the point.
I want to see the fight.
You want to see the fight.
If it happens and floyd schools him which is a certainty..what then?
Its better for arum and roach to keep mentioning floyd knowing the fight wont happen so people can always think..what if?
Floyd can fight until he is 40+
Pac has already been ko by a 40 yr old marquez and beat by an injured bradley(both smart boxers)
Lets be real. Stay in your lane until your contract ends with bob arum and then we can talk.

Even if the Pac fight doesn't happen it doesn't mean Floyd should fight some nobody like Khan. Why not Danny Garcia, he knocked out Khan why would Floyd doing the exact same thing that's been done before interest anyone?
I'd rather Floyd rematch Cotto if he can't get a fight vs Pac or Martinez

Re: Arum told USA Today: "We're ready to sit down and see if a deal can be reached"
Damn when will Arum retire? Whatever happened to that temporary stadium blah blah blah. Showtime/CBS need to say to Top Rank if you ever wanna show boxing on our networks you had better get your head out of your ass and make the damn fight happen. Mayweather can say whatever; But he is locked in a contract so if they wanna make Pac vs Mayweather he really has no other choice.

Re: Arum told USA Today: "We're ready to sit down and see if a deal can be reached"
Did Floyd actually say he wanted to fight in England. I can't imagine him not fighting in Vegas. Usually, if you want to fight Floyd you go to Floyd. When was the last time he fought outside of Vegas. I did read he will be announcing his opponent next week. If it's Khan I won't watch it to teach Floyd a lesson.

Re: Arum told USA Today: "We're ready to sit down and see if a deal can be reached"
HBO & Showtime had worked together before in the Lewis - Tyson megafight. I guess Floyd - Pacquiao is a very big fight that 2 major cable networks working together is the ideal situation.

Re: Arum told USA Today: "We're ready to sit down and see if a deal can be reached"
"We're ready to sit down"...
...are ya? Are ya really?
I love how he acts like he still has the same bargaining leverage he had three years ago. Floyd is the same position he was three years ago. Manny? Not so much.

Re: Arum told USA Today: "We're ready to sit down and see if a deal can be reached"
Arum being ready to sit down means Pac is that fucking broke. And with Pac-Rios only doing 500k buys, Pac can't make it up on his own. It's pretty obvious there looking at the Mayweather fight as a fucking life line.

floyd has been saying for years that he loves his british fans and has been wanting to fight in england for a long time.

Re: Arum told USA Today: "We're ready to sit down and see if a deal can be reached"
Not happening and he betrays his intentions right away. He says both sides need to dumb it down and they need to call him. So Bob tells them how to act and what to do? After he's admitted he hasn't taken their calls for years he accepts now jump on it. No. Bob is starting crap right off. If you want to extend an olive branch you extend, you call. You don't start by demanding they call. Small detail but it tells you everything right off. Although after insiders say Pac/Rios did 400k Bob just might get desperate.

Re: Arum told USA Today: "We're ready to sit down and see if a deal can be reached"
It's amazing the level of fiscal clarity and urgency you can wake up to after your cash cow is brutally KO'd.
-
Re: Arum told USA Today: "We're ready to sit down and see if a deal can be reached"
Either Arum and Pac have accepted they have reached the end of their line and have to cash out or, as is probably the case, they are talking nonsense and will just carry on with their Top Rank merry go round Bradley, JMM, Pov, Rios ect
-
Re: Arum told USA Today: "We're ready to sit down and see if a deal can be reached"
Arum would make the fight in an instant now if he could but Floyd and Golden Boy don't want to play anymore. It's actually the best fight for both fighters and both promotional companies right now. Floyd and Showtime are desperate for a viable opponent to make a profit on his $200 million contract. The Guerrero fight lost money, Alvarez made a lot of money, Khan will probably be another Guerrero-type number.
Manny still has a viable Bradley/Marquez rematch and the ability to fight Provodnikov after he probably loses to Floyd.
Too many problems between promotional companies Floyd and networks for this fight to happen though.

Re: Arum told USA Today: "We're ready to sit down and see if a deal can be reached"
This entire gig shows just how far gone boxing is. Its a shame really. No longer is it enough to be good enough. This trend to base the quality of how competitive a matchup is based on the PPV numbers is boxing's fiscal and physical cliff. Its a reality tv format and it makes me sick. And this absolute bullshit default excuse between GBP and TR needs to go the way of the dodo bird. It has sped up this erosion.
Pretty sad when a guy starts to miss Don King. Call him what you want but Floyd and Manny would be discussing a third fight by now.
