Am i becoming a homo

I am currently in the process of moving to another part of the shitty state I live in. Anyway, I am trying to throw out as much crap as I can to streamline the process. I had an assortment of plants, some of which were getting out of control. It took me a while but I decided to end the life of a few plants so I wouldn't have to clutter up the new place. Anyway, I became very emotional tossing out the plants.

I started questioning myself as to how I could make a decision to destroy the life of something that did me No harm and probably had no plans to ever do me harm. As I put the now unpotted plant in my backyard knowing it would die a slow death. It was a tropical tree and we are now in winter in my part of the US. Anyway, I almost got a tear in my eye as I looked at the left for dead plant.

Do you think I am turning gay or maybe I am going through a gender morph. It really was an alarming emotion. Maybe it's normal, this is the first time I have intentionally killed a plant so it was my first experience. I've killed plants before, just not on purpose.

No, I'm not a vegetarian. I don't cry if an animal is being killed for food. I went hunting with some friends and I took down a deer than the bastards told me they had no intention of eating the animal. To be honest, I felt like shooting one of them. My issue was that I killed a living being to save some room, just seems selfish to me.

Finito speaks the truth here gentlemen! No matter how strong the urgency may become, do not stick anything up your asses. This is a sure firing into a dick in your mouth.

You could try planting the plants somewhere else.
If they live or die, you gave them a chance.
The dilemma is one which I understand completely, despite never owning plants.
I suggest getting a spade and doing some midnight gardening, then no one can complain.
Make it a fun experience, do not hand off responsibility to anyone else, leave it to nature return them to the ground and what happens, well it happens.

Yup, if I found that deer I probably would have cried. If people were harvesting the animal for food I would understand. But to kill the deer and leave it? Just makes no sense. If you want to shoot your rifle, go to a range, living beings are not target practice. I'm not an avid hunter, but I know people who take down deer, moose etc. to feed their families. At this point in my life I prefer to go to the grocery store. Last time I went hunting I had a beautiful buck in my sights, I could have gotten off a clean shot, but the thing looked so majestic I couldn't bring myself to do it. I figured my friend could go to the grocery store, fuck him and his kids that deer was in his prime, he was probably on his way to screw some doe. I hope he's still out there living it up.

I know people have that attitude and some people who hunt are dickheads but when you go hunting with people who attempt to live off than land they have a lot of respect for the animals and the land for that matter. When you get the halfassed guys who like to drink and walk around with guns then you have cowards. In both Maine and Minnesota I knew some real hunters who were very good people.

Yeah maybe its a mentality bordering on whats behind, The hunger games. :-\
They cull criminals in China for organs why not have private hunting parties for those who want to take that mentality to its limit? Its not far off when you think about what they get up to now.

Hunting is part of my First Nations culture. I personally am not a hunter, but many people that I know are. One of my brothers is. I was a fisherman. Not a lot of hunters here anymore. In this band of 1700 members, I don't think there's 100 hunters.

East of here in Verendrye park, the Anishinabek of Barriere Lake (Rapid Lake) still get most of their food from hunting and fishing and trapping. The white men keep cutting down all the park though, destroying habitat. It's clear-cutting. They say it's selective-cutting, taking the large trees, leaving the small ones, they give it fancy names; bull$#!t, get out in the bush and you'll see it's clear-cutting. Everything's gone, and the ground is torn all to hell.

Anyway, we'll be having a traditional community Winter feast here on Dec 19. Moose meat and pickerel and trout for sure, and probably some deer and maybe rabbit too. Some drumming. Someone'll be doing a sunrise ceremony early that morning. It's all free.

My friend Will still follows the tradition of giving a snack to the Elders. He gets a moose or some fish, he makes the rds giving a snack to the Elders.

I don't object to hunting. I object to unnecessary animal suffering though, and to killing animals for no reason. You gotta have that respect for the animals, you give thanks, and you eat what you take.

I don't think my logic is a blanket statement for hunters. I haven't hunted in years and to be honest the few times I did I did not enjoy the act. I just happen to be a decent marksmen so I tried it out. I don't even know how I got into a hunting schpeil. This all started with me killing a plant in cold blood and then having a homophobic panic attack. Hunting can be beneficial in certain parts of the country where deer starve during the winter and or end up shattered on the side of the road. I am not qualified to speak on behalf of all hunters at large although if I have a few drinks I speak at large on any subject.

I don't see the problem with hunting, but you MUST eat the animal for it to be justified. I think people like Cameron and the Queen are appalling degraded scoundrels for killing animals with no intention of eating them. It is an utterly pointless waste of life.

I love eating meat and yesterday cooked the loveliest steak, but part of me is now leaning more to the animal protectors point of view. I was reading an article today about battery chicken farms filling the chickens with additives and water and is that really what it is all about? Cows full of drugs, eating their own shit, and then me eventually frying it?

I want the animal to at least have had some freedom and comfort before satiating my appetite. In that sense randomly shooting a free animal and eating it is far more fulfilling than me popping down to Costco. Most of us have no idea where our meat comes from and the truth of it all would make many of us queasy and sick inside.

I've waffled and have no idea what this thread is about. Maybe yes, you are and maybe, no you aren't. I've been distracted and haven't got the foggiest.

Wasn't there another alternative: ask your group of friends and family if they would like to have your plant?

In fact I can smell the hunter's chili Mrs. VC is making right now. I spent just about every weekend since August scouting and over the last month have harvested two bucks and a doe with my bow. I will probably take 3 more before the season is over and then I'll feed my family with their venison for the year. Hunters do more for conservation than any group. They provide much needed population control and fight fiercely to protect wildlife areas. It is much more important for hunters to police their own and take care of hunting lands b/c there is always some ignorant limp wristed moron wanting to save the planet while having no understanding of how the ecosystem works. No one disagrees that shooting an animal and just leaving it to rot is poor form but for starters this is a miniscule amount of hunters. Making a bigoted generalization about hunters b/c of a handful of incidents would be no different than saying all environmentalists are murderers b/c of a handful of eco-terrorists.

Nice, bow hunting is quite a skill. I never hunted with a bow but I love to shoot targets with one. I became quite accurate. The few times I did hunt I was scared to use one as I was not confident I could take down a deer with one shot. I am very paranoid about wounding the animal and not being able to track it and finish it off. Do you take down your fowl with a bow?

I wish I was good enough to shoot fowl with a bow. I have taken a turkey but that isn't quite the same thing. I have a beretta over/under 12 ga that I do just about all my other bird hunting with. If you put an arrow right behind the shoulder you should pierce the lungs and heart and not have to track the deer much more than 30 yards. When possible I simply try to put one through the base of the skull. I used to hunt w/a rifle but really enjoy the challenge of bow hunting. You have to get much closer to the animal and it takes a lot more skill.
