Last Night did Lara earn himself a fight with Cash Cows, Canelo or Floyd?
What do you guys think? Who else is there for him to beat at 154 before he gets one or both of those fights? I would be particularly interested in seeing him in with Floyd.

I don't see Floyd taking that fight, way too much risk for little reward.
Lara vs Canelo would be great to see.

Didn't Alvarez already avoid him? Not sure but now would be a great time for the kid to redeem himself. I think a Lara/Floyd fight might be a slower pace then Lara/Trout if that's humanly possible.

He deserves canelo but I doubt these the big names are going to risk it...

Lara would stop Kirkland quite easily imo, he couldn't miss and Kirkland doesn't really hit that hard past the first couple of rounds. Alvarez would be the best opponent realistically, but Keith Thurman or even Gabriel Rosado could be tough fights for him as well, if he doesn't get the big payday. I'm probably in the minority in finding Lara good to watch, but it seems like he will struggle with guys who can crowd and make him fight, his footwork is tremendous but he has lapses where he isn't really doing anything but posturing.

I think he has and I'd be interested in a Lara Mayweather go. Floyd probally doesn't even know how to pronounce his name but style wise Lara comes closest to fighting Floyd with Floyd-ish ways.

If boxing at the highest level is about money, then neither Canelo nor Mayweather should want to fight him. His style doesn't generate excitement and doesn't attract fans. You can't market a fight with Lara because his fights are boring and his personality is bland.

I'd be really interested in that fight to, Lara could potentially give Floyd some real fits and make him lead, if it could happen at 154 that's as good a fight as any out there for Mayweather imo.

The kid can't go back to bums anymore. Not after having been in there with Floyd. If Lara is a good logical next opponent, then Lara it should be. And yes.... there is some redeeming to be done after getting schooled by Floyd in a bad way.

GBP kept Canelo away from Lara for good reason, it's a nightmare matchup. But if Canelo is going to redeem himself he needs to take the tough fights now. He's had his payday, it's time to work.

Respect both of your opinions a great deal but I just dont see Lara/Floyd as a very appealing fight style wise. Lara's stance is as wide as Broners. I see that one as 36 minutes of sizing eachother up.

Yeh I can see that too, both painting by numbers and watching it dry ;D. But I'm stuck on the fact Mayweather has faced nothing like Lara in recent memory. Oddly, its an on paper stink out style I'd be willing to stomach to see what happens. If that makes sense. Whats the standard script on Floyd?..."cut him off, oh I have to rake the body and break his stride with pressure and volume" etc etc.
Lara is like...I don't care, and I'm sharp enough to stink it out also and won't play the script. Lara is a very accurate hitter, natural weight that Floyd is flirting with or -should- be now and a hard fighter to 'read' in there. He moves much much better than a Broner horse shoe stance and I honestly cannot compare the likeness. He could flip the script, not let it rattle him mentally and have Mayweather stepping in more than usual. Whats Floyds going to say if it is a pose off and hears the booos...Lara ran all night. Imagine that irony ;D. Really though.....I think Lara is pretty live in that one. Who knows.

It has qualified him as one prospect among many for Floyd Mayweather but I wouldn't say he's earned a shot by beating Trout LOL :rolleyes:
As for Canelo, Lara beat Trout better than Saul did so Yeah I certainly believe Lara has earned himself a shot at that cash cow and this could be a very good fight.
Despite his upshowing, Canelo is still my man and I'll weigh in early here...

If we're honest, by adding Trout to his list of victims, Lara has a more impressive ledger than Canelo did when he fought Floyd. Lara has wins over Trout, Angulo, Williams (regardless of the judges' scorecards), and a draw with Molina.

I think Lara just made it a lot harder for himself to get fights. He fights in a measured, economical punching style that is very effective but not fan friendly.
He picks his opponent apart like Floyd; is fast, accurate and patient like Rigo and punches pretty good too. He will be a problem for anyone who gets in the ring with him. This is the first time I've seen him and he impressed me, but I don't think I could ever come to enjoy his style.

lara vs canelo is definitely the fight that fans want right now. i would be alright with a little four man tournament. canelo vs cotto and lara vs kirkland then the winners face each other.

The only fight I want to see Lara in is with Canelo. I think Kirkland would be too easy for him. I can admire his technical brilliance but he's just not exciting to watch at all.

Canelo prefers Cotto. If Cotto goes the Martinez route, Canelo is left with Molina and Lara as available titleholders.
Mayweather is without an opponent so a fight with Lara makes sense.

This is how I see it. Lara is going to be difficult for anyone & doesn't really bring a big pay day. His performance over Trout just increased his risk assessment. I think he should be entitled to a Canelo or Floyd fight but I don't see them taking the bait :p
Like @Spicoli mentioned I also feel that Lara presents the most difficult puzzle for Floyd to solve at this stage :)
