Name your favourite fights where the winner has not put a foot wrong and won with a perfect performance.
I have just seen Roy Jones v Richard Hall.
Buddy McGirt (Challenger)vs Simon Brown (Champion, and the best welterweight in the world at the time.)
The kind of fight where the vanquished never asks for a rematch.
It's important to consider the caliber of the opponent too regarding the perfect performance.
Mayweather vs gatti
Mayweather vs Corrales is the greatest boxing performance I've ever seen, when you take into account the quality of Corrales.
The effortless shift from airtight defense to blistering offense, the foot movement and ring generalship, it's just incredible.
For my money, that's the best flawless victory of all time.
Corrales was the #1 in the division and a top p4p guy, and he didn't win 10 seconds of that fight.
Michael Nunn (Challenger) vs Frank Tate (Middleweight Champ).
Mike Tyson vs Michael Spinks.
You guys mentioned the two I was going to mention- Jones vs Hall and Mayweather vs Gatti.
I don't know if you can say Lewis vs Tua. It was boring, but there was no other way one can win that fight.
Winky Wright vs Trinidad
Yes I have to say I enjoyed one of my favorite fighters win as an underdog , James Buddy McGirt v Simon Brown , classic boxing master class
That's true. People forget that Gatti was very highly ranked at the time.
In the Ring's 2004 end of year rankings (just before Gatti/Mayweather), they had Gatti ranked #1 at 140 (behind only Tszyu, the undisputed champ of the divison). Floyd was ranked #3. So it's not like Floyd was picking on some unranked bum.
As much as I hate to say it, Ward over Dawson was pretty flawless.
Nelson v Fenech 2. Maybe a Barrera v Hamed. Hearns v Hill. Tapia vs Danny Romero
What about Jones v Hill and against Hopkins, also Sosa and Griffin 2, Thornton, Paz, Tate....the more I think about it the more I think Benn and Eubank were lucky they avoided him.
I had Hopkins winning 4 rounds vs Jones jr. Back then I was probally stoned out of my mind though ???
Mike Tyson Vs Marvis Frazier
Hearns v Shuler
Curry v McCrory
Calzaghe vs lacy I know lacy turned out to a bit of a hype job but going into the fight a lot of people though he was going to walk through calzaghe
I thought we were talking about fights that went the distance, or close to the distance, where the fight was pretty much over from round one?
I'd have to say Forrest vs. Mosely 1 was pretty much a whitewash. It was over from round one, Mosely never got into the fight. For 12 rounds it was downhill.
Calzaghe v Lacy:o
