No he isn't a WW he is good at lower weights
I dont think he beats Mythesse either at 140.. Peterson would give him hell too..
Maybe he should test the water against Zab..
Let Broner try Thurman or Maidana again. Either way he gets another ass whippin and we win.
I think he'd beat Berto but probably wouldn't want anything to do with Ortiz power, assuming Victor can get back to good form, which is far from a given of course. I think Ponce de leon being a lefty is what gave Broner a lot of trouble in their fight, Ortiz at his best would have probably found the mark pretty easily.
Shit Soto Karass or Josesito Lopez would be very live opponents for Broner if he's going to stick around welterweight. Realistically he won't be fighting anyone to dangerous in his next couple of fights, he showed a lot of heart tonight but strikes me as a pretty fragile human being and probably wont know how to act for a while.
i think thats a cop out, maidana isnt a true welterweight himself
ww/jww/lw, whatever the weight broner still stands completely still, has to plant his feet 100% to throw any remotely meaningful punch, and shoulder rolls for show (blocking 0 punches with his aesthetic shoulder roll)
That's quite true, he makes Canelo look like Rigondeaux on the backfoot and simple feints followed up with anything make his shell quite useless by the seems of. I think Garcia or Matthyse would beat the hell out of him at 140, but those could still be interesting fights if he rebounds with a good showing or two. He does have really fast hands and he can punch, I wonder if getting fat in between camps has sapped his output a little bit. There is/was definitely a lot of room for improvement in there tonight and he showed pretty good recuperative abilities and fighting instincts imo.
broner is a top 10 WW but i could see a lot of people giving him trouble at that weight. he is probably a top 5 light WW. good news is that he is still the best LW i think.
What the fuck FinitoElDinamita? What happened to forum etiquette? What happened to not spoiling results for people that have recorded the fights? Broner fight only finished a few hours ago. Not only is there loads of threads giving the result away you yourself have made one.
Dude this sucks.
I agree with FinitoElDinamita he needs to test waters against Zab.
I dont see him beating Ortiz or Berto. Well i think even Khan gives Broner hell and beats him.
I have always said Broner is way overrated, even before last night.
After the Ponce de leon fight I knew he was going to be a hype job and will get exposed when he runs into a real fighter.
I think Broner is better than both Berto and Ortiz, and I'd probably take him to beat both guys.
He really needs to start letting his hands go though.
Thurman is a bad matchup for him though IMO. WIth Thurman's boxing skill combined with his brutal power, I think he'd beat Broner's ass worse than Maidana did.
No question about that, anymore. Everyone is talking about Broner being a hype job, let's talk about Maidana a little.
A lot of us, myself included, didn't give him much of a chance against Broner, now I'm happy to say I was wrong.
Maidana believed in himself, worked hard, listened to his corner, stayed strong, dug deep down when he had to and acted like a champion after the fight.
He also gave us a great fight, one of the most entertaining this year. Thanks for the memories!
The ropes save broner from being knocked out.
The ropes jerked his head back to life..broner is finished at welterweight.
The only complete, dominate and undisputed win on a top-ish level for Broner is Antonio Demarco...at lightweight.
Antonio...Demarco...
Broner and Berto should be a tag team.
I think Broner is pretty highly skilled personally. He can throw beautiful combinations, has a lot of speed and clearly has the athleticism. If he dedicates himself to the craft rather than wandering around playing rapper with a bunch of dickheads and inflating his ego beyond all proportion then he can certainly beat the above. I'm not popping him a Berto type bowl of shit yet.
I know this gets banded about here and there when fighters lose, but he genuinely needs to learn the art of defense so a change of trainer may benefit him and certainly get him away from all the idiots that follow him around. He got hit WAY too much against Gavin Rees, and that was a right old time back. He's done the same in every fight since then. He's still making those terrible errors and played that right out last night. He's plenty young to work on it, but I'd say if he doesn't learn from last night, he has NO PLACE at Welterweight. Thurman would have taken his head off last night for sure.
broner was rushed at WW a bit too quickly if you ask me
from light weight jumping 2 weights, struggling against a light punching WW then straight into a fully fledge world class opponent who hits hard and has very good punch resistence, and has fought many times at the top level
they should have taken their time a bit, in a few fights time at WW he may well have beaten maidana
Broner can't beat an egg at 147.
He needs to drop back down, shut his gob, stop trying to be 'Money' Mayweather's mini-me oh, & increase his workrate in contests.
Broner, imo was never a top tier fighter IMO. His only real fight was against paulie prior to maidana. If paulie could punch, he would've put broner to sleep.
Broner is so busy trying to replicate floyd that he stood in the ring and got served up. Somebody should've told broner that Floyd is a defensive specialist...broner blocks punches with his face. Very little footwork. He just stands there and attempts to shoulder roll all day.
He has speed, but that's about it. He kept trying to pot shot like Floyd.....even after doin the zab Judah dance.
Broner has the speed but he needs to throw the Floyd style out the window and create his own style. He is not roy, nor is he Floyd. If he realizes this and uses the gifts he has he will be a much better fighter. Maybe he needs a new trainer
Yeah dude I learnt a good lesson. I've been posting on this forum for nine years but only last week learnt it's "forum etiquette" to not discuss fights until everyone has verified they've seen them. I will never make the clearly idiotic mistake of coming here after a fight has taken place ever again.
You live and learn.
Boner's okay by me. Humbled in defeat is fine. He took his lumps (had no choice but too) and actually finished the stronger fighter. Had Maidana hurt badly. Should of pressed hard like his life depended on it but that's him. In his own delusional bubble. Needs to go down to 140 and just get back on the bike.
