If the 2nd rd ko was in the middle of the ring i dont think broner would have got up.
The ropes sprung him back into action as he was gone on the way down.
I dont think broner will have a rematch as i see maidana ko him again but this time he stays down.
He had a great champions heart for coming back in the fight but he wont want any of maidana again.
This dump fest on Broner is starting to become a bit much even though I am still eating leftover crow with a healthy dose of HP sauce. Had it been a knock out punch then it would have been a lights out punch. The ropes would have nothing to do with it. And I don't see why he should shy away from a rematch but he needs do make some radical changes first. I mean talk about a reality check for the kid. Now its up to him.
"I don't think that he was on tonight"- Broners umm trainer Mike Stafford. Who has Stafford even trained not including his guppies to come up for food? To bad the great George Benton was not still with us. That would have been a nice pairing. Broner has no trainer off paper. Who tells their corner to basically shut up and fuck off out of the corner at this level? Broner needs a complete refit, starting with lifestyle. No more vids of him giving face. He almost needs a total disconnect if he's serious about his craft.
I have to admit that it’s kind of grown on me even though it was totally unexpected. Watched the fight about 5 times now. A severe case of hubris. I bet he never even trained beyond cutting weight. Figured all he had to do was show up. And the window dressing for a corner never helped. Next time he should just bring hand puppets. Maybe he will take his craft a little more seriously now but I have this feeling he might go the way of Audley Harrison. Fell into those silk sheets just a little too quick. He's got the talent, speed and athleticism but he looked one dimensional when Maidana got him out of stride. Cant fight a lick off the back foot. I'm certainly not going to write him off like the majority of people are. I think he's a dick but I still say he can be a standout. Its up to him though. It wont matter who is in the corner if he does not change.
Not sure why Broner deserves a rematch. He lost convincingly...the scores should have been even wider if the idiot ref actually deducted points for all of Broner's pushing and elbows. Maidana should move on and fight someone else. As for Broner...he has A LOT of work to do. There is the mental part of the defeat...his confidence was shattered in that fight. Then there is the technical/physical part. He clearly isn't disciplined or focused outside of the ring. He showed that he could not adapt as the fight dragged on. His movement and defense need serious work. And he needs to stay the fuck out of 147. I really question if someone with his hubris can come back better after a fight like that. He is physically gifted...but he doesn't have a great technical/skill foundation or the ring IQ.
As much as I was wailing in bellicose glory watching Broner eat his feet, I wouldn't say he was saved by ropes. If he had sprung up and the legs truly gone he would have been stepping in post holes badly enough to fall out. I've zero interest in rematch as Broner should have to earn it back and Maidana should hunt for bigger game. The very next time Broner suggests, states or claims a Mayweather relation it'll just confirm his head is too far up his own ass to come back. He needs a whole new philosophy and refinement.

I'd maybe call up Goossen. He's somewhat a celeb but under the radar. The dude transferred Chico.
Yeah an immediate rematch is a bad idea. He needs to revisit his soul. Take a year and make the changes. He's still young.
I didn't make a pick first go but, this should be an unpopular opinion, I'm rather confident Broner wins a rematch.
I think people are letting their hatred of Broner cloud their minds. Take for instance all the talk about Broners elbows/forearms, so much but yet not one word on any board I read about all Maidanas low blows. There were a ton of low blows and very low, like on the thighs often. But not a word. I'm in no way saying these low blows effected the fight. I'm just pointing to peoples bias. People talk about Broners acting job and they should but fact is that was an obvious and intentional headbutt and a no doubt point deduction. And if you watch it is followed by an elbow, why is nobody talking about that? It's bias.

What you notice is Maidana only controlled the rounds he hurt and after he hurt Broner. As you get away from being hurt it went more and more towards Broner.
So then you ask how did Maidana hurt him and can Broner take that away. Maidana kept getting him with the left hook because Broner was looking for his own left hook too much. That's why Broners corner kept telling him to go down the middle and going down the middle worked. It's a simple adjustment but Broner was shook and stupid.
What else did Maidana do? He jabbed to the body and followed it with a looping overhand right to get over the shoulder. Straight punches would foil this as well since they are shorter. Or he could slide and counter uppercut which is one of his best punches he was startled away from.
Kid was overconfident, underprepared and dumb. Can't fix dumb but overconfident should be gone and underprepared is completely up to him. Will he step up, nobody knows. Is it likely he comes into a rematch so woefully prepared? Not likely so I'd take him in a rematch and if it happens I'll even be putting money on it which is rare for me. Because I assume having been thoroughly beaten it will bring good odds. And I don't see what Maidana can change to improve his performance but Broner has easy adjustments.
I think rds 345 could have went either way.
Broner can make adjustments but maidana still has the ability to knock him out.
Broner will be back and possibly even better next time but not against maidana for a year or two.

Those are some serious words of depth. But he'll be pushed into another mass fight on the same stage, the same atomsphere and mind set. I don't think Broner can put the toothpaste back in the tube. Not saying he won't get the opportunity and show some success, but until he gets serious enough to look at the 'until you grow up, your not a welter, almost slappy etc' and not label it "y'all just hating"..nothing changes. Some of those things were all pointed out prior. Its constructive criticism in there, and Broner needs to invest in hearing it. Put away the toys.

Part of it will be IF...and it's a big IF...he can technically get better and smarter in the ring. The much harder part will be if he can become more mature. You sit on 'the premier' network and say "I don't give a fuck what y'all or anyone thinks"...word for word and walk in at...welterweight 147 in a lightweight match, cancelled, uncancelled etc. it's a free pass and spoke volumes. If Broner hadn't garnered so much disdain prior to the fight, I would have liked him after this fight. Theatrics and malingered aside he put up a scrappy fight. He didn't look that good through most of it but he was entertaining. I don't understand his lack of output. Same thing with his Paulie fight. He had Paulie backing up through the fight but didn't take advantage often. I have to say I did feel kind of bad when people were throwing cups and whatnot at Broner as he scampered away
I sort of feel the same. I hated the Mayweather comparisons because I don't think they fit which led me to hate on this kid. And he gave plenty more reasons to hate that night from flopping to pushing to running from the ring. But much more significant to me is that he was game.Quote:

Broner sold himself well. I always wanted to see him fight as I wanted to see him lose. He took it too far and actually had a group of people hating him. At least we won't have to see him on ppv which I wouldn't have done anyway. I am relatively confident the same thing will happen in a rematch but Maidana will probably do it as he will stand to make good change. If Broner had stayed in the ring for a post fight interview and acted a bit humble it probably would have done much to gain a bit of respect. I attribute Broners poor performance to that ridiculous rap tour he went on. Just a thought, plus the fact he wasn't anywhere near an elite fighter
