Juan Manuel Markez : Pacquiao Should Fight Maywether Not Me
four division world champion Juan Manuel Marquez is
looking to fight two more times in 2014, before announcing his retirement from the sport - but says no amount of money can get him in the ring for a fifth time with Pacquiao.
Manny Pacquiao is hunting for a fifth fight after Marquez knocked him out cold in the sixth round of their fourth meeting last December in Las Vegas.
Marquez wants Manny Pacquiao to face Mayweather Jr. in order to satisfy the curiosity of the people who want to see them fight.
“The fifth fight is not going to happen. It’s not even worth it, because the people are very happy with that knockout,” Juan Manuel Marquez said. “I hope they make the fight between Pacquiao and Mayweather Jr. to erase any doubts [on who would win]. I think it’s going to be great fight and the people will be very pleased because they won’t be in suspense on what would have happened if these two fighters had faced each other.”

Re: Juan Manuel Markez : Pacquiao Should Fight Maywether Not Me
I don't blame JMM. He got robbed 2 out of 3 times, arguably all 3 times, and now he finally got a decisive win.

Re: Juan Manuel Markez : Pacquiao Should Fight Maywether Not Me
Up your @$$, he didn't get robbed 3 times...

Exactly. JMM fought til he won. Period. Manny still owns him.

Re: Juan Manuel Markez : Pacquiao Should Fight Maywether Not Me
I can't blame Marquez for not wanting a 5th fight cuz I know dam sure that I'd do the same.
It took him years, 4 fights to finally score the picture perfect knockout and even then, he took a beating prior to landing that punch. Deep inside, he knows he was fortunate and the same would not happen in a 5th bout so he'd rather live and die with that good memory intact. That shit is priceless and no amount of money will make him risk that.

Re: Juan Manuel Markez : Pacquiao Should Fight Maywether Not Me
Really. I like Marquez and there Is no doubt he Is a future HOF fighter, but come on. To call fans bitter and tell them they need to mature when Marquez whined and cried for rematches until he finally got his desired result on his 4th attempt. Now Pacquiao would like an attempt to avenge the ko loss and Marquez basically tells him to go **ck himself. I would think that Marquez would be the one that would need to mature, If that Is possible.

Re: Juan Manuel Markez : Pacquiao Should Fight Maywether Not Me
Marquez is right. There's no need for a 5th fight. He's already 4-0 against him

I love marquez.
This guy is like kryptonite to pac.
40yr old hall of famer and one of the best to ever do it.

He got robbed twice.
If you or anyone else can honestly say you think Pac won the 1st and 3rd fight, you're insane.
Manny owns Marquez? LOL. I wonder how many millions JMM cost Pac by putting him to sleep.

Re: Juan Manuel Markez : Pacquiao Should Fight Maywether Not Me
JMM is also a true fan of the sport like us who really wanted the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight to finally become a reality.

To have 4 fights proved they were close and thrilling fights but we all know what happened on the last one...

To be objective, yep Marquez got robbed 2x..
A draw in the first bout was acceptable because the judge did make an error scoring first round.. Draw was more than fair.

Re: Juan Manuel Markez : Pacquiao Should Fight Maywether Not Me
JMM is in it for the money same as every other boxer. No boxer owes money to another boxer. The promotional company is responsible for the purse. If they have some sort of endorsement deal it's a separate issue

I stand up for Pac in the 2nd fight, because it was a razor close fight and no guy clearly won. Personally I thought Pac won by one round.
But in the 1st and 3rd fight, I think Marquez really schooled him.

Re: Juan Manuel Markez : Pacquiao Should Fight Maywether Not Me
HBO reported JMM was seeking twenty million for another fight.

i can remember the third tho if youd like to discuss it :)

I'd love to know a) how you scored it and b) why you thought Manny won the majority of those rounds.

Re: Juan Manuel Markez : Pacquiao Should Fight Maywether Not Me
Good for Marquez. JMM doesn't owe Pac shit...and he doesn't owe fights fans anything either. He has had a hell of career...and if that means he wants his signature win to stand as it is...good for him.
-
Re: Juan Manuel Markez : Pacquiao Should Fight Maywether Not Me
Jmm has been robbed in at least a few of the fights with pac and out of all the bouts he was the only one to win it with no doubts. The man is 40 he can do what he pleases Pac still can rematch Bradley and try to erase of the first result not to mention Bradley did something pac could not beat Jmm clearly. After that he may get a fight it with the top fighter Mayweather if he takes a lower share and leaves Arum. Anyhow either of the fights eb great and i am sure something good will happen i am sure of it.

Re: Juan Manuel Markez : Pacquiao Should Fight Maywether Not Me
Hmmm...... I wonder how many seconds it would take for JMM to change his tune if Pac were to actually fight Floyd and beat him.
:scratchchin:

owns .... JMM hahaha!!!!!! Winning controversial decisions hardly qualifies as domination. Putting your arch enemy to fucking sleep is priceless. Who remembers those previous fights except Pac huggers? The fresh memory of a dead like Crime scene pose on the canvas face first is historic. Like it or not !!!!!!!!!!

i agree with you. the 1st and 3rd fights were clearly marquez. people look at the 3 KDs in the first fight but from the 3rd round on, JMM easily outboxed pac. the third fight was a joke of a decision. the second fight i had JMM winning by a point but it was a close fight and the SD win for pac was fair. i didnt mind it.
and like many people have said, JMM doesnt owe pac a rematch. you can whine as much as you want about pac giving JMM all of those rematches but that was for pac's own legacy. he kept wanting to get those close/controversial decisions out of his legacy but kept coming up short. JMM is old now and will lose if they fight again and he knows that.

i cant remember exactly how i scored it
but i definately thought Manny won the majority of the rounds
manny was by far the aggressor and landed more punches in most rounds, marquez was backing up and pot shotting him and maybe landing the more eye catching punches but a lot less of them
if you pick the 3 rounds that were most clearly won you would pick 3 rounds marquez won, the rest were close rounds which i thought manny won the vast majority of
if you pick the 10 best punches in the fight they would probably be marquez punches which were probably by far and away the best 10 punches of the fight, if you were to pick the best 100 punches then 70 would probably be mannys
its just my opinion and i am completely impartial

Re: Juan Manuel Markez : Pacquiao Should Fight Maywether Not Me
I also think words like robbery and a schoolling dont apply in the marquez pac fights because opinion is so divided
they were obviously all very close fights

being a close fight doesnt mean that it isnt a robbery. i thought that JMM won the third fight 116-112. on my scorecard, it was relatively close as in if there were 2 close rounds that i gave to JMM instead of pac, it created a JMM win instead of a draw. but the difference is that in that fight there were mostly clear winners for each round. their second fight had a lot more toss up rounds while the 1st and 3rd didnt.
for example, if during a 12 round fight, fighter #1 scored a KD in 7 of the 12 rounds and fighter #2 scored a KD in the other 5 rounds. lets assume that the KDs were clear and the person who got the kd was winning the round. so essentially, every round was a 10-8 round and in the end, the fight was close, but it would be a robbery if fighter #2 won because he clearly won 7 rounds. that is how i feel about their 3rd fight in particular. even though it wasnt a blowout, marquez clearly won at least 7 rounds which would make it a robbery if he didnt win the fight.

:) I agree if there was a fight like that then there could be a robbery, and I don't think there would be too much split opinion, I think most would agree
none of the pac marquez fights were, they were full of close rounds
perhaps I am swayed by the aggressor in fights I don't know, but in the third pac was on the front foot throughout and was pushing the fight, marquez most of the time was landing only because pac was pushing for it and committing and I don't think he was outlanding pac, his punches at times may have looked nicer because pac was coming on to them
eitherway the fight was definitely not a robbery and pac was definitely not schooled

Re: Juan Manuel Markez : Pacquiao Should Fight Maywether Not Me
pac couldnt get going the whole fight. he had a few good shots but everytime he came in, JMM countered him. pac tried to be the aggressor but was stopped.

He wants to live with the memory.. marquez' career has practically revolved around pacman and now that he's accomplished his dream, no way he wants to risk it.
He would be foolish to face pac again..

Re: Juan Manuel Markez : Pacquiao Should Fight Maywether Not Me
I always felt kinda bad Jmm he never got the nod even though feel won majority of the fights. He was robbed in the last fight before the ko that one i think he won the clearest on points. He manged do something neither was able to do before win with no question and at 40 he can go off if he wants.
