Provodnikov: A Good Chance I'll Face Pacquiao on 4/12 - Boxing News
This is what im talking about.. Fuck BRadley..
I sure hope not, this will not be a good fight. Provo plays right to Pacs stregths and is far too slow. If you like one sided beatings this is your fight. Provos corner throws in the towel.
Pac's real good at taking apart these slower plodders.
Provod has massive balls though, and I'm sure he'll keep coming forward unlike Rios.
I'd much rather see this than a Marquez or Bradley rematch.
And yes it will be a beating, but Providnikov would have the epitome of a punchers chance.
If Pac can't fight Mayweather then fuck it lets see him do his thing a few more times before he's gone. He really is a sight to behold against aggressive fighters.
I thought provo was trained by roach as well
Well never mind just read the article and seems like provo would get himself a new coach for the fight
I get the post. But I was just wondering why fuck Bradley? I'm just wondering cuz i didn't see anything about him in the article unless your just saying that cuz you don't like him.
I like Provos chances a hell of alot better than a Rios but can't help but think the mutual familiarity, chief sparring partner etc, would effect the play somehow. Let alone it being made? Great styles clash though. Like throwing a hand full of glass, metal and gun powder in a huge blender :angryxo4:
Provos hands are not really all that plodding slow. Kid is chopping and deceptive with it.
provo has had 2 pretty good fights but he isnt proven. he lost to bradley but made it an interesting and exciting fight and beat alvarado who is a solid opponent but nowhere near great. not that im complaining about the fight being made, but unless provo is something more than what i have seen of him thus far, he will easily get beaten.
The merry go round of Top Rank continues which is wasting away Manny's career and some good fights for him.
Stylewise this is a good fight but it is another treading water fight for Pac Man's legacy. He needs to avenge the Bradley defeat especially since he has beaten JMM.
Ya I do to. For some reason I still don't find him that good. I agree with you about the pacman fight but I do think bradley beat marquez. I like Marquez but I feel like if your not coming at Marquez attacking and decide to just box him you have a pretty good chance at winning.
Maybe they want him to beat Provo in a better fashion and then have another reason to call out bradley.
After a little more thought this is the only option. Pac won't pay Marquez what he wants because he can't. If Marquez gets even money Pac has to take less.
Marquez says Bradley rematch or retirement. Bradley has no reason to rematch unless there is no other fight available. If Pac and Provo are occupied Bradley would be left with Alvarado off being destroyed, Rios off 2 losses or Marquez. How do you make a rematch nobody wants, make it the most attractive option.
This way Bob gets an extra PPV. Two mediocre PPVs are better than one.
I'm pretty sure Marquez won't fight Pacquiao again regardless of the money. Bradley has a reason to rematch because now his last win warrants a bigger slice of the pie this time around. Bradley beat Marquez, but it wasn't a beat down. I don't think Marquez can beat the Bradley that showed up that night though.
The way I see it, we have a fight between Bradley and Marquez, which Bradley wins, and a fight between Pacquiao and Provo, which is a little bit closer to call, but I lean Pacquiao.
Provodnikov by KO.
Pac ducking bradley.
Wont risk an injury free bradley.
Get another tougher punchbag.
What a joke.
Provod is obviously well known to Roach and Pac, and at this juncture where they're trying to build Pac some momentum so he can try to hook a fight with Mayweather, there's no way they'd put him in with Provod unless they really knew that they had his number in a big way.
That's what I was thinking, they must have sparred enough to have a good idea of how it would go. If it were a really dangerous fight for Pac there's no reason for him to take it, Provo isn't a big name and he'd no doubt move up to welter again to fight Pac, so there wouldn't even be a belt on the line. I'd much rather see Pac or Provo get a rematch with Bradley than fight each other, those are a lot more interesting.
He wont risk it then. Another word for duck. Its hard to believe but something has them startled.
Bradley and pac would make most money so why not?!
Marquez has knocked all the bite out of pac and he needs a couple of tune ups to get back into it.
Prob might be pac vs bradley end of 2014...but who does bradley fight now?!
I saw Mauricio Herrera handle Povodnikov pretty fucking easily. Unless Pac brawls with him, Pov doesn't have a chance
Bradley made some good money but he wont see anymore big paydays unless he fights a superstar..
People in his own hometown dont even know him and palm springs is a very small town.
I don't think there is anything to risk fighting bradley it can only help him he probably hasn't rematched cuz he feels that everyone already knows he won. The most money fight for manny is either mayweather or a Marquez rematch then it's probably bradley. As for Bradley he has to fight khan and get the rumors of him ducking him out of the way unless he really was ducking. Or start fighting with golden boy fighters. There's nothing for him in top rank.
The 1 word I have for this fight....
WHY?
Bradley fights Marquez and beats him again. Pacquiao fights Provo, and if he wins, he faces Bradley. It works out perfectly for both parties.
I don't agree that a fight between Provodnikov and Pacquiao is one-sided on paper. Provo has improved tremendously over his last few fights. Heck, many boxing writers picked him in their top three for fighter of the year this past year with his win over Alvarado, where he went into the fight an underdog, and his close fight with Bradley, where many thought he was a tune-up fight. Think about that. He's consistently out-performed. Compare that with Pacquiao's last two fights, where he looked sensational against Rios, and was knocked out by Marquez.
How will Pacquiao fare when Provo connects? Rios couldn't get off, but Provo won't have that problem. He will land at some point.
How can Pacquiao be accused of ducking Bradley? It makes no sense because Pacquiao already faced him!
I wouldn't have disagreed if this was one year ago, but over the last year I've seen Provo somehow get Bradley to stop boxing and engage in a fight and then do the same for Alvarado. Maybe his footwork has got better under Roach's tutelage and now he's better able to cut off the ring?
Could someone please link the first round of the Bradley/Provodnikov fight? I'm on my phone so I can't do it. This rumor that Provodnikov made Bradley stop and fight needs to stop. Bradley chose. Watch the round. There seems to be this thing in boxing fandom where if you say something that isn't true enough it becomes popular opinion. Watch the round! Bradley is moving and Bradley stops, it has nothing to do with Provodnikov. Provo deserves all the credit in the world for his success he created when Bradley stopped. But tell the truth, Bradley stopped.

As you say, Bradley boxes for the first half of round one, but right around 1:30 they come out of a clinch in the middle of the ring, and Bradley suddenly decides to stay there and try to wallop Provodnikov with combinations.
If anything, the way Provodnikov got Bradley to stop boxing was by being almost impossible to miss with a punch. Provo showed great toughness to be able to keep throwing back, but it was nothing to do with him foiling Bradley's movement.
A Pac-Provo fight probably ends with Provo being stopped on cuts.
The vast majority of fans believe that Bradley fought the way he did to get back in the fans' good graces after winning (but losing) the Pacquiao fight.
Regardless if Bradley made the decision to try and fight Provo or the other way around, Provo showed that at at the "fight" game, he's as good, if not better, than Bradley.
I would love to see a rematch between Provo and Bradley to see if Bradley can outbox him.
Also, Alvarado beat Rios by boxing him in the rematch, but even in his hometown, he couldn't stay away from Provo.
I'm just suggesting that Provo has become a pretty decent pressure fighter.
Bradley's weakness though has always been his lack of punching power. He wins by volume and defense. Wouldn't you suspect that Provo's game plan was to take a few punches to land one? Bradley let him do that, whether it was by mistake or not is impossible to tell, frankly. Also, Bradley makes some mental mistakes in boxing matches, but usually it's here and there, would he really make one for a whole fight? It's unfair to not give some credit to Provo.
How about we split the baby? Bradley made a mistake and decided to fight when he should have boxed in the first round, but Provo's ability forced that mistake would cost Bradley the entire fight. With a world class competitor like Bradley, credit to Provo for doing that.
What we do know is that the fight was 12 rounds and Bradley for some reason stopped boxing from the outside after getting hurt in the first round. If he wanted to win the fight and thought he could do it from the outside, he should have switched it up after the first round. If he couldn't switch it up because Provo was fighting too well, then credit to Provo.
Why hasn't Provo got a rematch with Bradley? Didn't his performance in their first fight earn him one? By the way, I think Bradley would win a rematch.
Just rewatched part of the fight, wow, is Bradley a warrior. He was hit with helacious shots and just kept coming back. Holy crap was that a good fight.
Also, Bradley's punches dont generate much power because of his lack of technique.. He doesn't clinch his fists tightly nor does he put his body into it and turn punches over.. He punches like an amatuer..
That's why he bores me..
