Khan signs on to fight Floyd
Down to Mayweather now then!
http://www.worldboxingnews.net/news/2013/12/30/amir-khan-signs-on-to-fight-floyd-mayweather.html
-
Khan has not avenged any losses and has been sitting on the sidelines for a year not even prepared to fight any other welters.
Hope he gets destroyed.
This fight does nothing for floyd.
-
Re: Khan signs on to fight Floyd
Im gonna go ahead and be the first to say it, I wouldnt be surprised to see Khan beat Flyod.
Here is why:
Floyd will touch Khan but not enough to slow him down.
With Khans speed, timing and Boxing I.Q. he will be able to land punches.
Khans speed.
If Floyd can keep Khan honest with punishing punches he wins.
-
Re: Khan signs on to fight Floyd
Ugh, absolute shit fight. I'm really hoping Floyd backs out of this and fights Maidana instead
ps. I'm sure some moron will respond to this, asking why Maidana is a better opponent than Khan, who beat Maidana over 3 years ago..

Even watching Maidana as early as round 5 and 6 vs Broner he looks way to sloppy and slow to beat Floyd. Sorry man.
Khan can stay sharp for 12 rounds. 15 or more if need be.

Good point about ring rust.

Someone with my mindset ;)
Khan can win this for sure if Floyd signs but a part of me thinks he might swerve him for Maidana who Khan has already beat!
I've said it loads before.....
Khans speed gives Floyd his toughest fight for years and lets not forget that Judah gave him nightmares with his speed and that was years ago.
If Amir can box clever I dont think Floyd has it in the tank to last the distance anymore.
-
First 2-3 rounds are gonna be electrified.
-
Re: Khan signs on to fight Floyd
This is going to be one of Floyd's/ Khan's most entertaining fights to date. Can't wait.
-
Re: Khan signs on to fight Floyd
Lol woo hoo this fight is going to be a cracker use are all sleeping on this fight. Floyd better ko khan cause I think this fight might be real close and wouldn't be surprised if mayweather gets fucked over on the score cards.
-
Re: Khan signs on to fight Floyd
yep im happy with this, i best fight out there for floyd
cant wait
i cant see khan winning but he will hit floyd and win more rounds than anyone has since judah/dlh

Thats about exactly right. Outside of Pac I cant think of anyone else who could bring that type of speed and footwork. Khan picks better shots than Pac put can still punch in volume as well. His combos are sharp and well timed and placed.
Khan and Pac are two different types of fighters thats for sure but both have footwork, speed and throw beautiful/sharp combos.
Dont get me wrong its still a long shot that Khan will win. Its just an interesting fight imo.
-
Exactly ... it is def long shot but Khan will force him to go at a fierce pace from the off.
Chuck Khans wobbly legs into the mix and its a bona fide classic matchup.
Floyd will have to start off quicker than usual against him because Khan is explosive early on.
Just ask Maidana :)
-
Remember when Khan said he had mastered the 4 rounder and figured he could beat Mayweather in a four round fight?
Things have come full circle...sort of...unfortunately.

Hahaha
I remember him saying that years ago.
I cant help thinking Floyd will swerve him and go the Maidana route.... another plodder who he defuses early then bores us ..... again.
Of course Floyd beats Khan 8-9/10 times but I have a gut feeling Khan can do him

Not to mention that Maidana is the last good fighter Khan has actually beaten:D If this fight gets signed it will have been two years since Khan was in against a world class fighter, when Garcia knocked him out. And yet Mayweather can't go the distance anymore, Amir Khan is actually going to win a decision here. He'll be really clever in this one, seriously:vd:

all good points
apart from maidana being a better opponent
12 rounds of floyd boxing his head off, maidana wont get near to him, if i had a million pounds everytime maidana landed a single punch in that fight i wouldnt be a millionaire
maidana is probably the worst opponent for floyd in terms of a test and entertainment
danny garcia isnt far behind
at least a fight pac and khan has potential for some excitement
-
Re: Khan signs on to fight Floyd
plus khan beat diaz in his last fight who drew (should have beat) porter who beat alexander
id say thats pretty close to world class, and khan won every round he wasnt hurt in very comfortably
-
Re: Khan signs on to fight Floyd
Julio Diaz has also been TKO'ed by your auntie and my dog, and lost to a handful of other Mayweather victims back when he was a lightweight a decade ago. Khan scraping by him over a year before he'd get to face Floyd is exactly why the fight sucks. I'm not even saying Khan doesn't have a good style to fight Floyd, but he isn't on the same level these days and can't take any kind of a punch at all. Floyd isn't a really light hitter, he'll time Khan and hurt him whenever he wants to.

maybe
he'll outbox maidana easily (maidana wont land a punch) and danny garcia would be just as much of a stroll
khan is the best fight out of the three in terms of entertainment by a long way
pac perhaps would offer a bit more but doesnt look like that will happen
who else is there in the frame?

Re: Khan signs on to fight Floyd
There are two good well knows fights:
Tszue and Whitaker vs. Diosbelys Hurtado , where both Tszue and Whitaker were not well prepared, Diosbelys Hurtado had VERY fast hands, he knocked dow both guys, but at the end he got overclassed and destroyed
I believe Floyd vs. Khan will go by the same scenario

Question...?
Do you wanna see Floyd in with another slow plodder who he's got wrapped up stylewise after 3 rounds or someone with serious speed who will land punches, make him fight and above all Entertain you whatever the outcome.
No one is saying Khan will 100% win but he def has the speed and style to pose more questions than any other fighter apart from Pac.
This is exactly what real fight fans wanna see ;)
I wanna see Floyd made to fight at a serious pace and maybe even go onto the front foot and really put it on Khan.
I guarantee you one thing.... Win , lose or draw.... Khan will bring out the very best in Mayweather and wont let up until either he wins or is knocked out in the process.
Its a win win for fight fans and a nailed on classic matchup so lets hope Floyd signs the contract :)
-
Re: Khan signs on to fight Floyd
If there is any one who is capable of landing an absolute picture perfect punch on Khan it's Mayweather. Maybe more than once. For once.
-
Re: Khan signs on to fight Floyd
Floyd-Maidana is a virtual cert to be a 12-0 rinse and repeat UD.
Floyd will probably TKO Khan. However, if Khan goes the distance there's no way with his workrate and punch output he wont have taken rounds (even if they're contentious). This fight can't fail to be entertaining (unless Khan gets ironed in the first ;D)

The only fights I'd really rather see would be Bradley or Lara, obviously neither of those guys are exciting, but they aren't slow plodders either and would be real challenges. You obviously think Khan is a lot better than I do currently, I don't think he'll put up a great fight or take more than a round or two if this happens.

I've always rated Khans talent and most importantly he has a MASSIVE heart.
When Prescott smashed him all the haters jumped all over him but look at the way he swallowed it and stepped up and went on to great things (mainly on foreign soil) and some classic fights.
The boy dusted himself down and jumped straight back into the deep end and proved everybody so wrong and gave us some brilliant wars along he way.
Khan will be bang up for for this for sure and will either win on points or go out on his shield by a KO.
That is what will happen.
This as well as Groves v Froch in a rematch could easily be fights of the year.
Boxing is entertainment not just business and I wanna be entertained.
Trust me this is the next best thing bar Floyd v Pac ;)
Fingers crossed Floyd signs .

Re: Khan signs on to fight Floyd
Roy and Paulie agree that Khan's speed/style could give Floyd big problems.

Lmfao some of u lost your minds. This thread it nutty lol

Re: Khan signs on to fight Floyd
Good luck to Amir Khan in getting this pay day and his management will be best advised to rap him cotton wool.
Ideally he would have another fight against a better welterweight like Paulie, Broner Maidana or Brooks but he is too vulnerable.
Yes he has the style, reach. height and speed to cause Floyd some problems but not to actually beat him.
Do not get delusional over this fight and keep it real.

This fight does nothing for floyd.
In fairness Garcia turned down a rematch. Peterson was out for taking PEDs so rematches weren't available.
-
I get what people say about his speed troubling floyd and comparing to Judah's speed but you gotta remember Judah is a south paw. South paws and mayweathers defense don't fit well for mayweather. If Judah wouldn't have gassed I bet he coulda won. Khan is an orthodox fighter I have him getting KO'd by a check left hook between the 6th and 8th round. If he gets up then mayweather will punish him and refs stops the fight. Something like hatton.

Truthfully Khan v anyone is exciting because he is one punch away from a knock out.

Re: Khan signs on to fight Floyd
This fight intrigues me, I can see Khan winning as he has the tools to do so. The speed, range, power, agility and I can see him lose to a technician due to unpolished skillset, bad balance, being too brave for his own good.
I think this will be a closer fight while it lasts for Mayweather than the Canelo bout could have ever been.

Would canelo beat khan...

Re: Khan signs on to fight Floyd
Its hard to fathom just how delusional this guy is. He acts as if he's the star and calls out Floyd as if its him that originated something. I'd laugh my ass off if Floyd changed his mind. Khans also in the press calling out Manny if he cant get Floyd. And people say Broner has his head up his own ass.
-
Re: Khan signs on to fight Floyd
I think Khan/his people have realized he hasn't got much longer to make the big paydays. If he can't get Floyd or Manny, he'll never make as much, no matter how many times he fights, who trains him, what have you. On top of that, there's a good chance he's on the decline, and could easily lose to just about anyone that would be seen as a legitimate path to Floyd imo. Why else has he done dick all since losing to Garcia, he couldn't have been terribly invested in becoming a better fighter or proving anything. Can't blame Khan for wanting to cash out I guess, I'm just surprised how many people see this as a good fight.

So true - And it's all on Mayweather to shine.
