Brilliant fight. I'd pick Matthysse as he's more refined and punches harder.
What a crazy fight.. id lean towards Lucas but with not much confidence. It's a close fight.
Matthysse wins, no doubt. Provo is too easy to find
When I saw this thread I was hoping to see the fight was being made. It would be great, hard to pick a winner but I think Prod is crazy enough to win.
Prov swells to easy for the thunder Lucas brings.
Provodnikov would look like the elephant man after 6-8 rounds
What a great fight this would be. I'd have a hard time picking against either one in this matchup - but I think Ron is right. It would most likely get stopped due to Povodnikov's propensity for eating punches.

I think Provodnikov is a little bit tougher and i think it would go his way
i dont care how good your chin is, you arent going to be able to withstand too many punches from matthysse. provo is going to come forward and get hit a few times at least which will eventually be lights out.

Actually, I looked at Top Rank's official website, and Provodnikov isn't listed as one of their fighters. He's actually promoted under Banner Promotions. So, this fight COULD happen.Quote:

If/when Garcia moves up to 147, this fight SHOULD happen. Not only would it be a great fight, but it would establish a new lineage at 140, since Matthysse and Provodnikov are ranked #1 and #2, respectively.
His manager was talking about this a while ago and says that they're going to stay loyal to HBO because they gave him his big chance against Bradley. Maybe further down the line he'll jump to GBP but he hasn't got a lot of fights left in him at the top level with his style.Quote:

Provodnikov is with Soft Rank and he isn't. He's under Banner Pronotions but he's obligated for one more fight to Soft Rank. I think that's how he got the Bradley fight but I'm not exactly sure when Bob weaseled his way in.
This would be a very entertaining fight and I think Matthysse would win but Prov certainly could mark him up like Garcia did.

Unlike nearly all of Matthysse previous threats, Provo is near homicidal with proven power and quicker hands than given credit for. He would NOT go limp or shy away from a fire fight and that would be his downfall. Matthysse can box and he has tempo with adjustment. Of the two he is the thinker. Oh and he hits like a fucking mule kick! Best case, at least now, is these two awesome forces don't cancel each other out and will never fight but if they did vote Matthysse late on.
Let's put it this way, the fighter that forgets the value of ducking in this potential barn-burner is the loser.
