Remember Ruiz faked a good body shot he received against Holyfield pretending he was hit low. I hated him ever since.
John Ruiz was underrated. Obviously he's not going to go down as one of the best HWs of all time, but I don't think he was nearly as bad as most people think he was.
He had an ugly/boring style, but he could get the job done for the most part.
He was very limited a fortunate he faced an old Holyfield. He got beat by Toney and Haye as well as Valued.Quote:

Ruiz had exceptional movement for a HW- aside from the time he got caught cold by David Tua. But, after the Tua fight, he kept on moving with brilliance- the better movement guys in the business.

the one good thing i will say about ruiz is that he never ducked anybody.
