Maidana did more to earn the shot anyhow, Khan can go fight another bum at home or fight his way into a big title fight

Re: Mayweather vs. Maidana set for May 3rd
Khan must be pissed, he hasn't fought anyone decent for ages in the hope of a deal with Mayweather coming off
-
Mayweather doesn't wanna fight the man who beat Maidana already and has taken the easier fight no question.
Another slow predictable plodder who's gonna get beaten on points in Floyds 3rd snoozefest in a row.
Khan would have given him big problems and he knows it.
This is gonna be a total.shut out like his last 2 fights, Amir would have at least made this a real fight.
-
Re: Mayweather vs. Maidana set for May 3rd
Eh...alright I guess still would have preferred Bradley-Mayweather

good joke bud, Julio Diaz was shot to shit and still Khan barely got by, yet he's gonna give him a tougher fight than the likes of Canelo or Cotto

Re: Mayweather vs. Maidana set for May 3rd
This is going to be worse than Floyd v Canelo. How does this help Floyd's legacy other than giving him another W.

Devastated is more like it and seriously disrespected. Lol. Might be out a chunk of change too, what with all the votes he bought. Lol. Poor sucker, should have known better than to believe Floyd.

Maintains that all important ZERO if you want to talk legacy.

Re: Mayweather vs. Maidana set for May 3rd
Nothing but respect for Maidana but frankly Floyd can phone in his combinations from his hotel suite in this one. I mean come on. To me, Maidana exposed Broner as unproven and a flawed faulty fatty and not sure how that translates into a 'top threat' for the consensus best fighter in the world other than the mutual 'brother' schtick that lost its punchline. The moment we hear Floyd dropping family business or revenge factor they'll cut to a shot of Broner still pulling his trunks out of his arse in the front row ??? ;D

Personally, I believe Maidana is going to suffer some serious damage in this fight. Odds are going to be for the UD but I'd throw a little down on a Mayweather stoppage. Khan would get caught early. He's shown a tendency to get drawn into compromising positions, and Mayweather would make him pay dearly for it. I would bet the stoppage had Mayweather fought Khan. Khan has faultered mightily against tougher competition.
How could you say the Alvarez fight was a snoozefest? Because Mayweather won? Mayweather has consistently brought it his last couple fights.

I don't know about serious damage but he definitely will not win, in my opinion.
I really don't know why Floyd is fighting Maidana, other than the fact that he thinks it's a sure win, maybe he is giving Broner a lesson on how to beat Maidana. Could be that he wants to teach Maidana a lesson or he might just have Cinco de Mayo in mind, even though Maidana is not Mexican.

Re: Mayweather vs. Maidana set for May 3rd
As good as any fight out there for pbf really, not like there is a row of more deserving fighters out there. Glad Amir didn't get it, you don' go to outboxing the best boxer in the world like some seem to think he would do after essentially scraping by a past his best journeyman, plus that dam chin.I like Amir always fun to watch but he needs to work some things out first. Who knows maybe floyd finally gets old and maidana gets lucky and cracks him early and keeps him dazed and we have a fight, but that's wishful thinking, I'm guessing most likely we have a 118-110 on our hands, but really that's the case with most anyone floyd fights so...
-
Re: Mayweather vs. Maidana set for May 3rd
What a bitch move by Floyd.
Khan is clearly the harder fight and Maidana is perfect for Floyd, he'll be lucky to land a punch on PBF.
Fight will be a snoozefest.
Floyd by UD 118-110

118 - 110?
wouldnt that mean maidana landed a punch or two?
120-118 absolute cert, put your house on it

Khan must be fuming.
Khan must really shine in his next fight to get the september fight!
Khan will have to fight on undercard.

I hope some poor sap didn't just put their house on 10 even rounds and Floyd to edge it close after you said that.

Re: Mayweather vs. Maidana set for May 3rd
Mayweather will make Maidana look even more silly than Alexander made him look I'd say. From beating Canelo comfortably to fighting Maidana. Disappointing.
-
So no one is happy about this?!
For crying out loud, if khan would have been picked it would have been worse.
Look how many ko maidana has and his new trainer has given him improvement...lets be positive.
-
The idea that Maidana has somehow shown himself more worthy by beating an over hyped braggart fighting north of his own weight class is a ridiculous one. Pacquiao is fighting the guy Floyd should be for the second time now. It's all a bit sad.
Whether you think he deserves it or not Khan would have been more entertaining for a few rounds and given Mayweather a better chance of stopping someone spectacularly, something he has not done for a while. Madiana will have to be reincarnated to show Floyd anything he hasn't negated on numerous previous occasions and after the initial bluster it will be rinse and repeat for round after round. Dull.
-
Good. This is a more compelling fight than Khan would be. Maidana won't win but he's got a punchers chance and he deserves the payday.
-

Exactly my thoughts I'll be shocked if maidana actually wins a round.
-
I don't like the fight, I would have preferred Khan for the difficulties he presented. But don't be confused. Both are easy fights.
But let's stop and look at the fans. Bradley, Bradley, Bradley. I'll hold my reply until I hear a fool say Bradley could beat Floyd. It's simply unimaginable. Even Bradley said he had no clue how to fight Floyd before he signed a contract that ensured he wouldn't.
Let's be real there is a storm a coming. Nobody wants this fight but they voted for it on every real vote. Not only did they vote for it but it's a unification fight, wait what? It's the earned fight and serves the proposed point of the sport.
Go ahead and hate. Floyd has you hating so much at this point you are the bad guy. If you have depth you'll hear what I'm not saying. If you don't you'll just be hating.
-
So Floyd choses Khans leftovers!
I think the amount of people in this thread alone who would have rather seen him fight Amir sums it up.
I said a while ago that all Floyd cares about is retiring without a loss and beating Marcianos record.
He's blatantly swerved Khan here.

Nobody thinks Bradley could beat Floyd, that is not the point. I would even give Khan a chance against Bradley (and credit for being willing to fight him unlike Floyd). There is a lot of hate in this thread but most of it is directed towards Khan, so accusing people of being shallow Floyd haters is a bit daft.

I never wanted Floyd to fight Khan because he didn't deserve to be in the same ring. But Maidana is also a shit choice because Floyd wins easily. Just pissed off about the options really, lesser of 2 evils.
I see it being a bit of a dud on the PPV as well, so they've shot themselves in the foot. Bored of it already.
Until all the political squabbling is sorted , there's never gonna be a happy ending. His final 3 fights should be Bradley , Pacquiao and finally Garcia if he has made the transition to Welterweight. Nothing else is satisfactory .

not really. Perhaps Floyd should've fought Khan and after that give Diaz a shot because he ran Khan so close. Or maybe Molina, or even Garcia or Peterson who both beat Khan. I tell you what, perhaps Floyd should've fought the man in the hat at ringside for the Peterson fight , because he had so much influence on the outcome of that! Let's see who Khan fights next and what the outcome is shall we.

C'mon man seriously? That whole thing was shady as fuck. Some guy leaning over a judge and pointing out "mistakes" on his scorecard because the judge was supposedly ill? Between that, the point deductions (bollocks when you consider how much Peterson lead with the head), the 1st round knockdown that wasn't scored and the fact that Peterson was on something should tell you Khan was royally shafted in that fight. He doesn't deserve a Mayweather shot but there are better examples than this one to support that argument.

Re: Mayweather vs. Maidana set for May 3rd
Tweet:
Floyd Mayweather announced Monday that he will face Marcos Maidana on May 3 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Quotes:
Floyd Mayweather: Marcos Maidana’s last performance immediately brought him to my attention. He is an extremely skilled fighter who brings knockout danger to the ring. I think this is a great fight for me and he deserves the opportunity to see if he can do what 45 others have tried to do before him – beat me.”
Marcos Maidana: I am extremely happy to be facing Floyd Mayweather because it will give me the opportunity to show the world that I am the best welterweight in the division. I just handed a great defensive fighter his first loss and I plan to do the same to Mayweather. I don’t care whether he’s the best and undefeated. I will bring some real Latino power to him on May 3rd.”
-
Re: Mayweather vs. Maidana set for May 3rd
It's basically just the Brits upset that Khan isn't getting the fight. They're thinking of the best Khan we've ever seen having a chance against a guy with bad hands who doesn't punch that hard at the weight. But Khan is already on the back nine of his career and last time out went life and death with a lightweight journeyman ten years past his best.
We've heard every excuse possible from Khan over the years, the most recent being that he was so tight at the weight at 140 it was taking his strength and making him chinny. But his last fight was at 143, a weight he picked, and he was still garbage.
And people are upset he isn't allowed to fight the pound for pound number one guy at a weight he's never fought at and never had any kind of meaningful win at when he looked so bad in his last fight and hasn't done anything impressive in the ring for years?

Re: Mayweather vs. Maidana set for May 3rd
This is a crappy fight. It doesn't do anything for Floyd or Maidana but line their pockets with our money. The outcome is predetermined and there is nothing to captivate us about it. What will the odds on this one be, 30-1 Floyd? I wonder how they'll try to sell it. Frankly, Khan wasn't a good option either, but Maidana isn't really any better. The only people happy about this match-up are Floyd and Maidana.

Theres nothing else matey.
Bradley and pac arent an option under top rank.
Garcia is under al hayman and might happen next year.

Lara, Kirkland, Andrade, even one of the Charlos are better options at 154. Going for legacy like Cotto is an option. You are correct though that at welterweight there really isn't much there.
