Anthony Joshua and Hughie Fury both in action this weekend
Both on different cards, Joshua is up against Hector Alfredo Avila whos 22-15-1 and Hughies opponent is yet to be named so far.

Joshua is moving up quite nicely.... already a guy with over 30 fights and 20 wins.

Re: Anthony Joshua and Hughie Fury both in action this weekend
That guy took Chisora 9 rounds as well, I remember that fight. He should give Joshua rounds for sure.
-
Re: Anthony Joshua and Hughie Fury both in action this weekend
If Joshua can hold a shot , then he could go far he has a nice neat boxing style to go with his power.
-
Re: Anthony Joshua and Hughie Fury both in action this weekend
Yeah hes a good guy for boxing and I wish him well, I wouldn't mind him fighting Richard Towers in the not too distant future. Somebody whos bigger than him, can punch and can get involved in a fight. I think that would be a good test for Joshua in the not too distant future.
-
Re: Anthony Joshua and Hughie Fury both in action this weekend
The only thing I think that will maybe hold Hughie back is being in the same camps as Tyson. Id be worried he may get in to that mindset of a sparring partner. Hes very quiet and seems subdued in all the interviews hes done. Big contrast to Tyson who brims with confidence and has a big personality. Hughie also doesnt seem to have Tysons spite.
He does look as though he has the better chin than Tyson. He won a gold at the world junior championships, so has fought world class punchers and has never been hurt or down so far. Joshua was dropped a few times and beaten by Dillian Whyte, in Whytes first amateur bout.
It may benefit Hughie, not to spar with Tyson in future, or at least not as much as they do. He needs to be his own man now so he can progress.
-
Re: Anthony Joshua and Hughie Fury both in action this weekend
Hughie is only 19 and I think people sometimes forget that when they slag him off. Hes still physically maturing and has a lot to learn. I don't see it as a bad thing being in camp with Tyson and Eddie at all, it will be good for him to learn a thing or two from their experience. No doubt Peter will have Hughie's career as the most important thing to him with Hughie being his son.
I think we will see a lot from Hughie, his body shots are devastating from somebody whos so young and we will see a lot more from him as well in the near future.
-
Re: Anthony Joshua and Hughie Fury both in action this weekend
I think hes going to be very good but I also worry that being in Tysons shadow could hurt his developement.
Id like to see him open up a bit more like his cousin, personality wise. Id like to see more devil in his work.
He looked good in his last fight, very good for a 19 year old.
-
Re: Anthony Joshua and Hughie Fury both in action this weekend
I think Peter would have wanted Hughie to get rounds in against a lot of the fighters hes been in with. If he simply said to him go out there and steam roll every opponent, Hughie wouldn't have learnt shit. Peter has told him to take his time in the ring and if a knock out comes it comes. I personally think getting rounds in the bank especially when your young is essential.
Hughie will have to do what he has to do and everybody knows the potential is there with him winning the world amateur title. I don't think he will be in the shadows too much, because hes being active and putting in performances.
-
Re: Anthony Joshua and Hughie Fury both in action this weekend
Dont get me wrong, I really like Hughie and as hes only 19 I see more potential than with Joshua.
Joshua will look cumbersome as soon as he fights someone decent that can move and its known hes been down. Tyson has been down in the pros but dont think he was dropped like Joshua in the amateurs and that includes taking Prices punches who some would have you believe is the biggest puncher in the world.

Again complete shite. Joshua only started boxing a few years ago. Getting dropped at such an early stage means nothing. Hughie although only 19 has probably in and around boxing Gyms since he was 5. I like Hughie but suggesting hes a bigger prospect then Joshua is just ur Fury fanboy shining through.

Chisora was shit that night. This guy been finished early pelnty of times before. Id be surprised if this doesnt end in the 1st 2. One punch power wise, there doesnt look to be any comparison between Joshua and Chisora.

We are talking about Tony Joshua right?

Hes been knocked out inside a round since Chisora too.

Joshua had been boxing for 2 years when Whyte beat him in his very first bout. Joshua started in 2007 and the loss to Whyte was 2009. It doesnt mean to say thats the first time he was knocked down either.;)
Pretty much everyone agrees that Joshua shouldn't have even won that first bout in the Olympics to Savon. Hughie travelled to Armenia and beat the best fighters in the world legitimately. I believe he has a better pedigree and is having a tougher more beneficial apprenticeship.

Come on ross I know you like Hughie , but Joshua is Olympic champion , so no Hughie doesn't have the better pedigree.

Because he went the distance with Darch? His most impressive win for me is his stoppage of Perkovic in 5 as he is a hard fighter to stop but as for tough competition he hasnt exactly beaten anyone that you would say Joshua wouldnt beat.
Savon is a world class fighter. I agree that Joshua doesnt deserve the win over Savon. But to call the chaps Hughie beat the best in the world is just silly, it was a fucking youth competition and to make things worse he was in the final against an Indian, reknowned for producing world class heavies.

My point was, if the right result was read out, Joshua wouldnt have got past the first fight. He was hyped to fuck before the Olympics which was held in his home town. It was made for him to win. Hughie did his on his own merits, not an with an olympic commitee backing him.

They were still the best in the world of that age group at super heavy.
Hughie may not be knocking people over now but hes learning how to box against pros. His strength will come and he will start to relax as Chris Eubank Jr is now doing. He was labelled as "feather fisted" but is now on a run of stoppages.

Hypocrite. Same could be said about Fury. If the correct result was read out against McDermott he would not be where he is today.

I have a feeling they will learn.
Just remember what everyone thought aout Price when he was knocking over journeymen.
There will come a point where Hearn will move Joshua up and because hes now even believing the hype hes put out it will be too much of a jump in class.
I dont think Joshua is as vulnerable as Price but I do think he will look like a robot against someone who can move.
-
Re: Anthony Joshua and Hughie Fury both in action this weekend
Fortunately for him there is fuck all good heavyweights who can move.
-
Re: Anthony Joshua and Hughie Fury both in action this weekend
Once Tyson Fury comes up against a good mover he'll look shit too. Like the way Cunningham made him look clumsey in parts. Haye would have done that too him. Again fortunately for him there arent many heavies with that style anymore.

You have a point!
I want to say something that isnt pro Fury but I just cant fucking help myself! Im looking forward to seeing what difference being with Peter Fury will have on Chambers.
I think they are trying to push for Lucas Browne for Chambers in June on the Chisora v Fury bill. Chambers has good movement but hes too far down the road for Hearn to risk Joshua against. If he moves him as slow as Maloney did Price, he wont be fighting McDermott until 2016! ;D
The danger with a fighter like Joshua or Wilder and Price is they are very good punchers but not very good fighters as they don't get the chance to learn.

Is Chambers coming back to Heavy? Was hoping hed stay awhile at Cruiser.

Re: Anthony Joshua and Hughie Fury both in action this weekend
I like seeing Joshua fight, I think he always looks good, his punch power always looks impressive and I agree that he will probably make fairly short work of this opponent. Hughie Fury's still got plenty more to learn, and at 19 I don't see the need for him to step up too quickly, nice small steps, with a little bit more progress with each fight.

Re: Anthony Joshua and Hughie Fury both in action this weekend
Will be very interesting when Whyte gets back on the scene too!
He's serving his time well, giving Wlad and the Furys a hard time in sparring.

Cjambers joined the camp weighing less than 200lb and now weighs 230lb. He said he was on a shit veggie diet to get down to cruiser and really weakened himself. Peter has got him a weight coach and nutritionist and hes now got his muscle back. They will then be cutting back the fat. Peter is getting him to throw more punches per round in training and sparring and has said hes not fighting until hes doing it in training.
Heres a picture from when he joined the vcamp and how he looks now.
