Floyd Mayweather: Erislandy Lara-Ishe Smith on May 2 - Boxing News
Mayweather has announced this is happening the night before his fight with Maidana. My feeling is that Lara is taking it as he's been told he may get a fight with Mayweather in the future. I don't think it'll ever happen, but if that's what he was told it was a smart marketing ploy by Floyd to get his guy the fight.

I think you're onto something there. All that momentum off a solid war with Angulo recedes into Trout and Smith snore fest. Smith has zero business facing Lara other than being "Mayweathers first champion" and falling in his arms and sobbing after he won it.Quote:

I supported smith in the past but his performance in the ring is terrible and he has no snap whatsoever on his punches and i see this as his last fight in the spotlight.

Lara, I believe, will still have an easy time with Smith. I don't think Floyd would deliberately feed his friend to Lara, so I think Floyd sees something about Lara that Smith can take advantage of. Of course nobody knows what's happening inside of Floyd's head.

That is simply wrong my friend to read that much into what we both witnessed.He looked great against a brick. Angulo had nothing and that was evident from the opening bell. Lets be honest. There was intent. People really get blinded by that. How could he not look absolutely incredible against a heavy bag? I was shocked by Angulo. I knew his chances were slim but that tank is empty. That fight has no effect on Lara's confidence. If anything it sustains it. Alvarez landed 64% of his power shots according to the clicker police. That is unheard of. Lara has the problems a lot of Cuban fighters appear to have. There isn't a huge fan base for them and they don't have aggressive styles. Same with Rigo. Lara earned the Canelo fight with his wins over Trout and Angulo. Shaeffer then mentioned Lara should face the Charlo-Molina winner and now he is facing Smith?
Its odd, I haven't seen one mention of resetting Molina v Charlo. Just that Charlo was payed 100k and they will strip Molina in June if he doesn't defend?! What is Molina actually being deported over, was his arrest just for being an illegal immigrant:dontknow: Surely his being a world champion would mean he had enough earning potential, couldn't he just pay his way out somehow? Don't really know how it works.
Not sure why he's being deported but being a titleholder doesnt always bring financial gain especially if you dont put asses in the seats. Molina is perceived as a boring fighter and nobody is clamouring for his next fight. A lot of people dont even know that he's a champion so his title is isnt that relevant imo..Quote:

I do not see Canelo fighting Lara any time soon, first he needs to make weight and second it would be a difficult fight for him.
