Deontay Wilder will go the way of Michael Grant

Re: Deontay Wilder will go the way of Michael Grant
A bit unfair, Grant despite the lack of amateur pedigree seemed a whole level above anything I thus far have seen from Wilder.

Re: Deontay Wilder will go the way of Michael Grant
Nonsense... Grant had no where NEAR the mobility and power Wilder has. People are saying this because Wilder's chin hasn't been tested- but he has been tested against Kelvin Price, at least.
If Fury wants to fight Wilder then fight Wilder... if David Price wants to fight Wilder then fight Wilder.... Arreola says he doesn't want to fight Wilder as it isn't worth his wild... no one else in the division has even whispered Wilder's name.
If Wilder wants to fight, then someone should fight him. If he keeps getting stiffs who only want a pay check, then what do you expect him to do? Not fight?
Wilder has called our Tyson Fury... called him out... Fury went numb and silent...

Re: Deontay Wilder will go the way of Michael Grant
Tyson Fury should take that fight. I agree. But Wilder is not any better than Grant was.

Numb maybe, but I just can't picture Fury as silent. The same can be said of Wilder. Lol
I think Fury vs Wilder is a match everyone wants to see but the match has a touch of the Manny/Floyd virus at this time. A pile of money, for both camps, would clear up the virus but then we would have to listen to them bitch at each other like a couple of school girls.
There are no excuses for Wilder and the Brits have to be getting tired of listening to Fury run on about the way Haye has fucked him around.
Just shut up and fight you two cunts, that's what fighters are expected to do. Where did the men go that used to be in the heavyweights? It seems like the bigger the heavyweights get the higher their pussy index goes.

Wilder can at least throw straight punches... Grant never threw a straight punch in his life, or a hard punch for that matter. Grant bludgeons you- Wilder sparks you cold.

Grant ko'ed plenty with straight rights

Re: Deontay Wilder will go the way of Michael Grant
You need a Lennox lewis and there is no one like that including Wlad.

Anyone can throw straight rights on a heavy bag. Lets see how straight they are when he actually takes a punch...literally...or put off balance. Wilder is the literal definition of untested and has more padding than a highschool prom dance. Grant had faced better comp before he was sparked and even in 'comeback' for that matter.

It's the truth.

Re: Deontay Wilder will go the way of Michael Grant
Who do we realistically want Wilder to fight who he hasn't already called out??
-
Re: Deontay Wilder will go the way of Michael Grant
Fuck, they should have stopped that fight after the 3rd knockdown in the 1st round. Have to figure that he had at LEAST a minor concussion after the first knockdown of the fight, then to have to take all those bombs after... that's how guys get permanently damaged in there.
That's what I liked about Lennox though, he had a real mean streak in him. He could box and play it safe but if he smelled blood he could get guys out of there pretty quick.

Re: Deontay Wilder will go the way of Michael Grant
Fury's already said he wants to fight Wilder in the future, potentially when one of thems got a world title and HBO would be interested. At the moments he's focused on becoming WBO mandatory whilst Wilder's waiting for his shot at the WBC title.

Re: Deontay Wilder will go the way of Michael Grant
Grant is both underrated and overrated.
Grant was one of the most overhyped boxers of all time who ultimately failed to live up to expectations, he never seemed to recoup after his title loss to Lewis.
He also has lost only a handful of fights to either top contenders or hard punchers with circumstances in a long career with decent opposition.
The comparison with Wilder is valid for several reasons. Wilder is similarly hyped, Wilder has similar record to pre loss Grant, he is super tall and powerful like Grant and supremely athletic like Grant.
Some notable differences though, Grant is much bigger than Wilder. Grant is among the largest of boxers whilst Wilder is a top heavy, chicken legged, skinny gutted beanstalk. Grant has a big head and a solid chin, Wilder has a pin head and a weak jaw, he even got KO'd allegedly in sparring!!. Grant faced many good opponents in his career. Deontay faced SOME comparable opponents to Michael Grant (analysis of Wilder's record reveals that some of the journeymen opponents Wilder faced were of comparable level to Grant's journeymen). But overall definitely Grant faced much tougher opposition even before Lewis loss!! Grant could actually box some, Wilder is strictly a puncher. Grant had stamina, Wilder has no stamina.
Conclusion: Wilder will probably be exposed, I don't think he is or will be as good as Grant but that doesn't preclude him from ever winning a title as happenstance plays it's role too. Wilder would still KO anybody prior to the 80's, only possible exception being Foreman and that's a big maybe!

Re: Deontay Wilder will go the way of Michael Grant
Grant was a big nothing and so will Wilder prove to be. Give it 12 months. There will be no Deontay Wilder. At least in the rankings Imean. He will exist nbut he will be working with Leon Spinks at the Omaha, Nebraska Burger King.

I get where you are going with this but I wouldn't mention him in the same sentence as Spinks. Doubt you are making a comparison between the two in terms of talent. You are smarter then that I gather from your posts.
I actually thought Grant had great potential. But I also thought getting married and having a truck load of kids was a good idea too so what do I know. Kill me now. I'm on saddoboxing forums while my wife is on bed on our god knows whatever number anniversary. She thinks I'm doing work.
I hope Wilder is the real thing as we desperately need someone exciting. Same reason I hope AB comes back although I loved the beatdown on the little prick. But we need exciting guys. I have no friends who can name more than 3 current fighters. I think that is sad.
Better go pretend to be a good husband.

Re: Deontay Wilder will go the way of Michael Grant
Brockton, are being way too generous to Wilder while slapping Grant in the face.
Grant was much better than wilder bruh, technically and fundamentally.
Take away the right hand and Wilder is a sorry motherfucker. He is an amatuer.
He can't even throw a proper jab at this stage of his pro career. Lennox lewis had to show him the proper way to throw a jab in the ghetto parking lot behind an apartment.
This is a slap in grants face. Wilder is an ordinary fighter with a strong right hand. That's it. He is below average.

Re: Deontay Wilder will go the way of Michael Grant
Wilder hasn't shown much boxing ability for a top level fighter. But he hasn't have to . I wouldn't compare him to Grant as he better than him. IMO Wilder beats almost everyone now

Look, I'd love to see Wilder as the HW Champ but he has to fight. Setting around, thumping your chest, calling out other fighters and generally playing the fool on Twitter while fighting another "also ran" once or twice a year is not the path to a belt in my opinion.

It is all crap. He claims Grant has a good chin when he has been blown away and hurt. Grant is not better than Wilder.

Really?
Grant got wasted by McCline in seconds. Take another look at that fight, Grant broke his leg on the way down and was unable to continue. He was nt knocked cold. McCline weighed 260lbs as well mind you.
Andrew Golota, a 240+ lber and good boxer got the drop on Grant early and several times from which Grant got up each time to win!!
And the most proof of decent chin is the Lewi fight. Sure blown away in 2 rounds but look how many devastating sharp and heavy shots he took from LEnnox and managed to get up so many times. The commentary said themselves.. "Great chin!"
Case closed.
Meanwhile Wilder gets tapped in sparring!

Re: Deontay Wilder will go the way of Michael Grant
I'd side with a guy who may have taken dents while facing much better comp over a guy who has faced really no one adversity but was dropped by Harold friggin Sconniers ;D
I personally think Wilder is going to implode like the Hindenburg.
-
Re: Deontay Wilder will go the way of Michael Grant
Wilder is a big strong heabyweight, good solid fighter, looks to have above avergae skills. Saying that, I am not that thrilled about him, and also I would tend to side with Bobby Czyz, George Foreman and Evander Holyfield's opinions that they are not impressed with Wilder either.

Re: Deontay Wilder will go the way of Michael Grant
Wilder will probably be good as Dunkin Dokiwari..
