Will be a great fight if it happens. If Angulo had not given Lara so much trouble in their fight I would he saying Canelo is making a mistake.
-
Re: Schaefer: Canelo demaded Lara, it would be PPV
Lara is good and he's a tough nut to crack.
However, I think he's being overrated a bit by some boxing fans.
He had some problems with Vanes Martiyosan, who is not all that great, just real tough and aggressive.

Canelo does want to be great and he doesn't care who he has to go up against to get there. That's rare nowadays
-
Re: Schaefer: Canelo demaded Lara, it would be PPV
Seeing is believing. It's a little convenient as Lara is tied into a meaningless in house promoted fight and camp with the pool cleaner isn't it??? If they are serious about it..scrap that fight. Alvarez has no bigger balls than a Lara should they both work out the red tape.

This guy is such a panty waist and the trouble is all his cult members will buy this lock stock and barrel. Twice he has had the opportunity and twice it has been refused by his camp. Now that Lara is fighting Ishe Smith on the Floyd undercard calco pyrite calls him out. Same with his childish catch in his last fight. He cant take defeat because he's a pampered brat who got absolutely de-hyped by Floyd so he panders to the lame he was weakened by 2 pounds claim after weighing in essentially the same in all his previous fights. Never mind the fact that he has still only fought one legit top 154 fighter in 45 fights. And people call Broner a hose job.

Broner said he would never fight Floyd so that right there is a major difference between the two.

Re: Schaefer: Canelo demaded Lara, it would be PPV
I'm not shocked about Canelo wanting Lara for a couple of reasons. First, Lara is not this plague that somehow all of a sudden people are making him out to be. What the heck are people seeing that is so special or scary about Lara??? He is good but he is just another good fighter in the bunch. He basically looked about the same level as each fighter in these fights Williams/Molina/Martirosyan/Angulo. The only thing Lara does is not get blown out/make his opponent look good. He is not special and he is not on his fellow countryman's level either, Rigo. And secondly, people forget that Canelo vetoed his team's advice and he took the Trout fight. And lets not forget Canelo was set to fight Cotto, Ortiz, and Williams but Cotto and Ortiz lost their fights and Williams got in that accident. And also he tried twice to get Kirkland in the ring and Kirkland turned down both offers. People can rate Canelo how they want but he is not worried about getting in there.

@IamInuit - Lara-Smith is the night before the Floyd fight at the Hard Rock if memory serves, not on the undercard so my guess is that if the money is right for Canelo, Lara will pull out of the Smith fight and call his bluff.

Floyd would never fight Broner so I'm not sure what that means? I doubt he'd ever fight his other buddy either in Devon Alexander. There is a waiting list for Floyd. Andre Ward was willing to make 160 for a scrap. The proverbial pot at the end of the rainbow.

WHO DID FLOYD CHERRY PICK? Was Canelo cherry picked? Get your facts right.
Secondly, Lara is a good counterpuncher. But he's not Floyd. Canelo beats Lara by stoppage

That's a little harsh but I can understand why you are seeing it that way.
He's Mexican through and through, a boxer, with a lot of wins, like Oscar the ladies like him too, and he's not a trash talking ahole. A train load of rabid fans at all his fights should be expected.
No matter what everyone else thought, losing to Floyd was not something Canelo was expecting, especially losing without touching him with a decent punch. I think he is pissed maybe even steaming.
He basically beat the hell out of Angulo and probably would have kept beating the hell out of him if that fight wasn't stopped.
I'm hoping he stays pissed, he is fighting with more determination, he's on a mission to prove he's better than the guy Floyd beat.
There have been plenty of fighters who called other fighters out and then their managers have asked, "Are you out of your fucking mind." That's what managers are supposed to do.
Canelo is on a mission. Watch!

Its just way too disingenuous and almost comical. Lara has to feel like a puppet on 20 strings by now. I can see if he balked and then you get the alphabet boys threatening strip etc. They knew and set the Smith fight so next time get Alvarez to DEMAND a top threat before the fact. Demanded, :wc:

Such misguided hate. Alvarez has a very underrated resume. You disagree? That's fine. But name me a current fighter with a better resume than his at 23 years old.
-
Re: Schaefer: Canelo demaded Lara, it would be PPV
Hats off to Alvarez for wanting the toughest fight at 154. Lara has the best chance of beating him of any potential Alvarez opponent but I think Alvarez beats him, especially based on their performances against Angulo.
Lara is booked for a stay busy fight on a small card the night before the Floyd PPV so he can pull out and be in perfect shape for Alvarez. No problem there.

Indeed.Night before, night after, same night, what difference does it make? Alvarez had ample opportunity prior to Lara agreeing to Smith. Now that he has a date, Alvarez calls him out. Like the kid the flips you the finger after you washed his face in yellow snow for egging your car as you drive away. This obligation that he gets ppv is mind numbing. He should fight Molina in Mexico. They just revamped an arena and that great city has not seen a major in years. Grab the Ibf and then unify with Lara. Oops forgot the two major broadcasters wont leave.

Re: Schaefer: Canelo demaded Lara, it would be PPV
What i find hilarious is that Canelo is still trying to make 154...after his disgraceful weight issue in the last fight....it's pretty clear he can no longer stay at this weight.
-
Re: Schaefer: Canelo demaded Lara, it would be PPV
Dam some of you are haters! Some of ya are thinking too deep about this..
Canelo called Lara out knowing that he has a fight coming up with Smith? I dont think that has anything to do with it really and it shouldnt be an issue because Smith is a nobody.. Promoters can pay him step aside money or just force him to the back of the line cuz he's a nobody.
Scafer states that in order for Lara to face Canelo, he must drop out of the Smith fight incase he gets injured or someting and they are not willing to take that chance.. Makes sense..
Of course Lara is going to drop out... If lara doesn't accept, he's going to look like a chump after talking all that shit.
-
I like canelo.
But lets not pretend that he hasnt just been schooled by floyd so why put floyd down?
I would love to see canelo start dominating everyone but calling out a fighter thats already signed to fight doesnt make sense.
Canelo should be moving up to 160 but cotto has already taken that step and he has a massive weight disadvantage against martinez but he is still prepared to do it.
Canelo is young and hungry and his loss against chicken, ducking floyd will make him better in the long run..

Floyd schooling canelo is beside the point. Canelo continues to seek out the best fights possible while floyd picks and chooses matchups that suits him .. maidana, seriously? Lol
Everybody said canelo would never fight Trout cuz he's the most avoided fighter yada yada.. canelo called our bluff.. now Lara is the most avoided one and fans thiught canelo wouldnt go anywhere near him.. well he's called the bluff again.. he straight up walked into the gbp office and demanded Lara, he dont want to hear any other name besides lara.. how many fighters do that?
I cant even believe u mentioned cotto. Haha cotto is fighting martinez is a calculated move against an old, inactive fighter coming off multiple knee surgeries.. even then, he tried to gain as much advantage as possible by calling a cw of 159..
U comparing that to Canelo-lara is a joke!

Sounds good. And it's easy to say. But it's impossible to happen at the moment considering Molina is still in jail in the US. With an INS hold. Which pretty much means he ain't getting in the ring any time soon
Lara having a fight set means nothing. Cuz it takes place on May 2nd. Alvarez isn't fighting till July. I see no reason Lara can't take both fights. Smith only punches when you double dare him. Lara shouldn't have much problems with him

its a lot easier to get a rec like his when you have a massive promotional company supporting you. There is not one guy, apart from Floyd, on Canelos rec who would beat Lara. I have nothing against Alvarez. He has red hair so I presume theres some Irish in him somewhere. But to really think he is a P4P fighter at the moment is a bit silly.

What exactly did Trout do Alvarez? I know Alvarez dropped him for the first time in his career and took his 0. Trout didn't do anything to Alvarez. He never came close to hurting him. Trout tried to win with that don't get close to me jab. Wasn't gonna happen

Yeah, I don't know what Silkey meant by that and I'm still not sure he isn't joking. But I guess if its serious or a joke either way it is laughable.

Lara won every second of the fight v Trout. Alvarez scraped by. Had he not have got the KD I would have had it a draw. People are judging this fight based on how Angulo did against Lara and forgetting how much better trout did v Canelo them lara

Looks like its Official. Canelo vs Lara July 12:cool:
Lara is gonna school him most likely dropping him to 1-2 in hes last 3 fights and people are gonna see that Canelo is really just a B+ fighter at best. If he wants to contiune fighting and being a start hes gonna have to stay fighting the Kirkland, Angulo, Ortiz's of the boxing world. Hopefully after he loses this one GB will stop this whole every fight Canelo is in has to be PPV shit.;)
-
Canelo has good power and hope he beats lara and the fights martinez
-
Lara will beat Canelo. I think Lara is a bit underrated where as Canelo is way overrated
-
Re: Schaefer: Canelo demaded Lara, it would be PPV
I saw Lara lose to Carlos Molina. Struggle against Freddy Hernandez and Vanes Martirosyan. And than get dropped twice by Alfredo Angulo. Lara will be competitive against Alvarez. But he'll lose.
