Some guys keep saying that alvarado is a good technical boxer... well he's not. He appeared to be a better boxer than he really is because Rios and Provodnikov are one dimensional.. if he tries to box with the master boxer he's going to look like a fool.. he better off being himself..alvarado is a banger..
He's nowhere near Marquez' league and you guys will see a demolition job.. all I want to know is, can Alvarado absorb the punishment for 12 rds?
Marquez ought to win this and only have problems in the early rounds or so.
Alvarado is about on par with Kermit Cintron at his best, but with a bit more mettle.
That level I'd say.
I have no doubt marquez to going to beat on this kid but its not going to be a walk in the park. This boy is to damn stupid for that. He is bigger than diaz, so im looking forward to see this one. Fight of the year canidate.
If I was going to back an underdog it would not be this one.
Marquez KO and it will be easy work! ;)
Tough AND technical is a tough meal to digest.
Alvarado isn't good but Marquez is so damn slow these days. Marquez can still win fights on skill but I don't see anything coming easy for him anymore.
He is ageing sure but he is a tremendous athlete. I mean these guys are not like they used to be, 40 is the new 30 these days ;)Quote:

Marquez was never known for speed, even at a young age, and it's only natural for a fighter like that to get slower as he bulks up for higher weights..Quote:

You'll get no argument from me on that. But being as slow as he is now is difficult. If someone moves you're forced to follow which limits what you can do to time your opponent. Hence his trouble with Bradley. A young Marquez boxes Bradley, an older Marquez spends the night trying to get slow feet right.Quote:

Watching older fighters start losing to guys they are better than is one of the difficult aspects of fandom.

Incase anybody accuses marquez of ducking provodnikov, here's an article on why he chose Alvarado.. it very simple really but some haters want to ignore his goal.

Marquez is a great fighter, but like any great fighter he has got old. At his best he boxes Alvarado's head off, but Marquez isn't getting any younger. Marquez should win, but I don't think it will be easy at all with age leveling it out somewhat.
Mexicans hold their looks well. Marquez still looks like a young fella. Lucky bastard! lol
Only way I see JMM losing this is if he just isn't into it mentally. Alvarado has decent skills, but JMM is too experienced, and way to clever. JMM has been in some wars, and he was talking retirement for the last couple of years, so maybe his heart isn't into it. In my opinion, that is Alvarados only hope. JMM is just too good for him. Rios and Provodnikov were very one dimensional (although both, ESPECIALLY Provodnikov were bulls) and JMM is on another level of knowledge and skill in the ring. I say JMM stops Alvarado late after figuring him out and walking him into traps.
