Floyd would eat Pacman alive if they fought now
First off, respect to Pacquiao because he beat a top p4p fighter convincingly so he showed he still has a lot in the tank. Bradley fought a retarded fight, but that's not Pac's concern, he did what he had to do and got the W over a fantastic fighter.
That out of the way... holy shit has Pac slowed down. Everything: his movement, his handspeed, his reflexes. He doesn't have the pop he used to have. His balance looked really bad at several points in the fight, whereas a few years ago he had the fluidity of movement like very few have ever had.
If they fought in 2010, I think Floyd would have won but it would have been an extremely dangerous fight. 2014 Pac? There's no way. This guy is going to get eaten alive. I don't know what happened to him... maybe he's cycled off the juice over the last few years, who knows. He's still fast as shit and a problem for a lot of the top WWs, but he's not touching Floyd now. He missed his shot. He should have took the $40 million and the drug test in 2010 when he had a real chance.

Re: Floyd would eat Pacman alive if they fought now
What happened to Pac is that Pac is OLDER.... lololol.... and so too is Mayweather.
Mayweather's next fight is going to be a punishing one. Moreso than any other he has had over his career. While he is still my fav to win vs. Maidana, he certainly WILL get hit- hit in places he has never been hit before or expect to be hit at weird and awkward angles and times.

I agree.
And yeah Mayweahter and Pac are both older... and Mayweather has been slowing down too... but not at the rate that Pac has.
Pac seems to have lost his knockout power... which is very strange, because I can't remember a knockout puncher losing his knockout punch over time, usually the power is the last thing to go. Maybe Pac is now fighting without injecting steroids into his yellow ass?

This little Timmy could've knocked out Floyd Jr. Or may have won by decision if she decides to run instead.

Of course he could have. You're right on the money.
Floyd's beaten almost every style, but he's never faced a guy who can't punch who decides to look for a one-punch knockout the whole fight. I bet that would be Floyd's kryptonite...

You're looking at "older" in simpler, little kid terms. Its not solely about the age of the fighter. Its about the number of fights they've been in combined with the type of fight against who. In the past 8 years, Manny has twice as many fights against higher caliber opposition.

Whoa! That is a little salty there, bro... borderline. :-X
Pac is just being cautious. He rushed in and got smacked by JMM. Smacked with a shot he shouldn't have. He is fighting an older, more matured and measured boxing match.

100% correct. Maidana is a pussy who couldn't bust a grape. More selective matchmaking by Mayweather.

You can even count on her to stay away from the pussy-footin' Clottey.

It's safe to say that you don't appreciate the Hail Mary strategy either! Thank goodness that was just was boxing, imagine if that instead was a football game!

Re: Floyd would eat Pacman alive if they fought now
I agree Manny has slowed a step but I think him fighting Floyd is a good, solid close fight. And I do think the fight could still happen. I have heard Floyd Sr saying Manny can now beat Floyd. Maybe Floyd can save it for his 50 fight, if they are both still active, might need to make it sooner. How many Times is Floyd expecting to fight this year.
-
Re: Floyd would eat Pacman alive if they fought now
I haven't seen the fight yet but I'm willing to bet that this talk of Pac slowing down to this degree is anti-hype. I'm leaning on the side he's being more cautious. And of course he is getting older but so is Floyd.
It's also true that Pac fights better opposition and more frequently too.
I think guys like Khan and Maidana are absolute push-overs compared to Pac so there's Floyd's justification for taking him on.
If Floyd could eat him then why doesn't he?
Pac, Manny and Top Ranks main sole goal is to get Pac in the ring with Floyd. He thinks he runs boxing! Just fight!
-
Re: Floyd would eat Pacman alive if they fought now
Floyd would beat Manny now and probably when Manny was at his best 2009 too.

Pacman fights better opposition lol could you imagine what people would of said if floyd had faced rios lol it's ridiculous to even say floyd and rios is the same sentence.

Re: Floyd would eat Pacman alive if they fought now
I think Canelo head to head beats Bradley so I don't think Pac fights better competition lets not forget that P4P is a mythical title and counts for nothing in the ring.
I mean a win for Floyd over a poor super middle would be harder than a win over the P4P number 3

100% agree and that is not taking anything away from Manny, he has provided some great fights, it's just that Floyd is just that good. I was saying that the whole fight tonight, Floyd would eat PAC man up. Bradley could have won tonight I think if he would've not become so one-dimensional and holding. I thought his holding cost him some rounds and maybe even a decision. It was the kind of holding that begs the judges to score against you. That said, PAC would get annihilated by Floyd then and especially now
-
Re: Floyd would eat Pacman alive if they fought now
Yeah that's true Floyd vs Rios at this stage is a total joke and I don't think Pac could beat Canelo.
I guess it's pretty even overall.
-
Re: Floyd would eat Pacman alive if they fought now
Don't get me wrong, I think FLoyd vs Pac should happen now FOR SURE. Pac deserves it now after beating Bradley. It's just lost a lot of intrigue for me. In 2009, I figured that Floyd would be able to counter-punch and move his way to a victory. I FIGURED that, but the outcome was really up in the air. Now the outcome is crystal clear to me. But fuck it, let the fight happen.
-
I think Floyd should be favored and will most likely win because he is the bigger man n better technician. That being said, styles make fights n I feel like PAC will be "up" for Floyd n will turn the clock back. I don't know that it will be enough, but I just think Floyd will bring out the best in Manny. I would still pay 60-70 bucks easy for that one, despite the fact that it is a few years past it's time.

No Offense but the" Pac deserve it now" line of reasoning that you have been touting for a while is seriously flawed. If you really think boxing is only about your last fight then there is no such thing as a legacy. Pacquiao has for many years now been THE MAN in and around the weight of Floyd that for whatever reason has not shared a ring with him. He has numerous belts and fought many common opponents both before and after Floyd. He did not need to do anything in this or any other fight in the last couple of years to EARN a shot at Floyd. He already made his point quite emphatically time after time and now he is on the downward slope of a pretty spectacular arc Floyd will be the undeserving one whose own legacy will be enhanced by finally fighting someone he should have faced years ago.
6 years since you figured. 6 years and a style which takes a lot out of a fighter and yet he still had to beat Bradley so convincingly to DESERVE a fight with Floyd ? :-\

Listen, I'm up for discussing and arguing points about boxing, even if I don't agree with someone usually I can value their input if it's coming from some basis of knowledge, but it absolutely BOGGLES MY MIND how so many people don't understand that a career has ebbs and flows and that boxing is governed by a strange concept called RANKINGS, where if you win, you move up, and if you lose you move down. I don't get what people don't understand about that. Maybe that ignorance is just a product of a corrupt, money grubbing sport that has been shovelling garbage down boxing fan's throats for years. Maybe that's why guys get title shots coming off of losses and only a few people even bat an eye.

While that may generally be the case we are talking about two superstars who have both generated huge amounts of money and have massive fan bases. Usual rules do not apply. Floyd's a dick, Arums a Dick and Manny may well be a dick but he sure as hell does not need to earn the right to fight anybody.

Ffs, pac has always deserved a fight with floyd but it wont happen with top rank!!!
-
Re: Floyd would eat Pacman alive if they fought now
Floyd would have beat Manny anytime in his career. I ask one thing. If there is a Manny JMM 5th fight that nobody buy it, please! I'm getting sick of Bob fucking Arum shit. Either fight Floyd or retire.

Maybe, then again maybe not, either way I do not think it is a better fight than Pac v Bradley. 2nd and 3rd best welters is better to see than 1st v 8th.

More people will see the Floyd vs. Maidana fight...it's a fact. Gate receipts for Pac/Bradley was $8 million. The Floyd/Maidana fight has already sold $14 million tickets.

Considering Pac Man is not American he does well globally than Floyd.

Well his superior global following still couldn't boost his PPV numbers anywhere near Mayweather's.

I am sure Floyd has to promote the fights as he on commission. Pac Man must just get a flat fee. :)
