Showtime Fight Night: Thurman vs Diaz ~ Matthysse vs Molina

Well, I don't see anything thread wise. Showtime Extreme just starting with Terrell Gausha 8-0 (5) fighting war/pasture horse Charles Whitaker 40-14-2 who has been there-done that. Nice step up for Gausha.

Jermall Charlo 17-0 (13) vs Hector Munoz 22-12-1 (14)...not exactly the 'title' fight he was hoping for :-X. Don't blink...don't even look at the clock.

Showtime card kicks off in 2 hours here.

Omar Figuerroa 22-0-1 (17) vs Jerry Belmontes 19-3 (5).

Lucas Matthysse 34-2 (32) in a hopeful shootout with John Molina 27-3-1 (22)

Keith Thurman 22-0 and Julio Diaz 40-9-1 (29) go at it in main event.


Not much "extreme" about Gausha and Whitaker so far. Gausha workmanlike with Whitaker in a seemingly mummified mode going into the 6th.

Gausha with a knockdown in 6th, Gausha putting on the pressure for finish. Good work

Gausha with the 80-71 shut out x3

Charlo and Hector Munoz at the bell. Munoz looks like a inked up Chuck zito after a buffet. Interesting to see if Charlos head is clear. Jab working early

Charlo chopping up puffy Munoz in 3rd. Putting combinations together very sharply

More damage in 4th. Munoz was sponging everything and is examined on stool, Dr calls it. Munoz not happy and pleading his case. I don't think fight was going to change, but we knew that before the opening bell really.

On a side note, "Happy" has become the official annoying POS when its being played during a live fight card :-X

Diaz and Maldanado swapping some leather here. Diaz just so much stronger, moving him with everyhting

Last round and and Diaz is just ripping him up. Maldanado not lacking brass though and staying in landing the occasional clip, def a decent scrap.

Maldonado now 1-10 in his last 11 fights. Might be time to call it quits

Totally. Dude left being ko'd by world champs to come back losing to prospects. But going 8 hard will prob only see him get calls.

Evening all. Figueroa/Matthysse/Thurman. I'm guessing two out of three end before twelve.

Picking the favorites tonight. I really like Thurman and Matthysse.

Will go with Matthysse and Thurman, Love the way Thurman fights! Just goes to the body and puts everything behind his punchs!

Belmontes is a very skilled fighter. Had an outstanding amateur career. He just needs to stay busy. His 3 defeats have all been close point losses in which he was out worked. He's gotta stay busy tonight.

I wouldn't mind an upset with Belmontes...it won't happen but why not ;D Dude can be pretty shifty but think Figueroa to walk him down

Mares looks about 150. I think he's going to do a Donaire and fade into obscurity. Both shattered by a loss.

Tap Belmontes on the shoulder and remind him he's not exactly a prime James Toney inside. 2-1 Belmontes, good fight!

Belmontes making me a fan. Great sensitivity and good movement inside (a major plus this early in his career), puts his punches together. He's looking like the much more polished fighter.

Gotta coin flip that 4th, close I thought.2-2 even up but Figueroa is starting to bust up and stops in tracks off fast shot

Belmontes can knock him out. 3-2 Belmontes. He looks labored

Belmontes falling into his career pattern. Allowing himself to get out worked and losing a close round

Figueroa can't be in a bad fight. Good job for him Belmontes doesn't have power.

Figueroa is a bum who will be washed up within two years.

Got 4-2 Belmontes, see him out hustling and landing a lot of sharp head moving punches. Just cleaner

5-2 and I must need glasses;D slow round but more effective boxing

You can't call Figueroa a bum and not consider Ji-Hoon Kim to be one. They fight in a similar style. With Figueroa being better fighter

Belmontes giving the judges an excuse to give it to Figueroa. I predict a Figueroa SD win.

Belmontes is close to pulling away with the fight.

Figuerora looks like a guy with no idea. Belmonte could sharp shoot much more, lets hope. 6-3 Belmonte

I got him winning so far. But If Belmontes loses it'll be cuz of them dead moments when he just doesn't throw.

Belmonte got dumb end of that round, also got punched in the ear and hated it. 6-4...down the middle he stops him in his tracks all day
