1. Floyd Mayweather Junior
2. errmm yer Floyd again
3. yep Floyd
4. zzzzzzzzzzz

Floyd is and MOST probably the MOST Boring BOXER I have ever witnessed. Hes that boring he picks an exciting fighter to get the boxing fans to take note. I have fallen a sleep after the 5th round on the last 3 boring encounters and I can tell you I will NOT be doing it AGAIN!!!
I think most would struggle to argue the bore factor when it comes to this so called ATG.....LOL
Job Biscuit (having a cream slice)!!!!

Re: Top 5 Most Boring Champions of ALL TIME
That's pretty funny what you did there, the whole "I'm gonna do a list and then name the same guy/thing in every slot" gag. Great posting. Good to see people are still pumping out original, thought-provoking comedic material.

Sir, you need to pull your head out of your ass and see boxing for what it is, a BUSINESS.
Floyd and every other fighter are there for the money.
I know I'am not telling you anything you don't know, but you seem to be pushing the money factor to the end of the line when it should be first.
If a fight makes money, most fighters and promoters aren't that concerned about the fans. All fighters and promoters want their fights to be exciting but the bottom line is the most important.
I'm not a big Floyd fan myself but look at the money generated by Floyd's PPV fights, you and I don't think he's that exciting but for various reasons most of the boxing world can't seem to get enough of him. That should tell you something.

Re: Top 5 Most Boring Champions of ALL TIME
Floyd and the Klitschko's are boring, but we know that. It's good if your fights are boring because that usually means you're dominating and taking very little damage in the process. It's up to their opponents to make it an exciting fight.

Re: Top 5 Most Boring Champions of ALL TIME
John David Jackson
Guillermo Rigondeaux
Wladimir Klitschko
Bernard Hopkins since about 2002 (exciting in late 90s into the 2001 Trinidad fight.)
Chad Dawson
Adrian Broner
Tim Bradley
Devon Alexander
Winky Wright
The difference is most of these flatliners remain anonymous to the mainstream, but the mainstream insist on paying top dollar for Mayweather's carefully-selected sleep-inducers (Maidana fight excepted).

Re: Top 5 Most Boring Champions of ALL TIME
There's not much going on in Boxing at the moment, so I guess it'll be Mayweather-bashing just to pass the time 'till Arreola's impending KO win on Saturday night...

Goes to show how boring the fans are too
At least Calzhage was in fights that he could have lost...not like May weather, never in a fight he was up against it.....BORING...so predictable....why doesn't Gayweather man up....he should have fought Pacquio when it mattered
Sugar Ray wouldda out boxed him
Thomas Hearns would have torn him a new bum hole
Job Biscuit (no respect and he ain't got any respect)
eh eh!!

Re: Top 5 Most Boring Champions of ALL TIME
Its funny because the same people who think they are boring will tune in and watch them every time.
-
Re: Top 5 Most Boring Champions of ALL TIME
I take Floyd off because his jab.
I watch Andre Ward, I like his personality but he can be boring
I shouldn't even need to mention Wlad.
Broner has a ridiculous style, a boxer who doesn't punch.
Canelo, when he fights for half a round.
I respect what he does but Rigo is bad.
Most of these fighters I will still watch but I don't get pissed if I miss the fight

Re: Top 5 Most Boring Champions of ALL TIME
floyd isnt really that boring. i actually enjoy most of his matches even if others dont. the difference is that floyd has been in some good fights by normal standards (see the maidana fight). even if most are boring, some are pretty entertaining. someone like wlad never has an exciting fight. the only exciting thing he has ever done is flail his arms around while getting KO'd. or someone like ruiz who has never been in a good fight. norman stone was the only positive for his fights.
so mayweather really isnt that bad comparatively plus, he is way more skilled than most of these other boring fighters which automatically make him more bearable to watch.

Re: Top 5 Most Boring Champions of ALL TIME
There are guys who are trying to be special, and there are guys who are trying to be successful
Usually, the successful guys are the most boring, so
1. Wlad
2. Floyd (love his style in amateurs though)
3. Ward (love his style in amateurs though)
4. Rigo (love his style in amateurs though)
5. Bradley, Hopkins, Wright, Alexander, basically anybody without a personality and fighting traditional way without a unique feature

Re: Top 5 Most Boring Champions of ALL TIME
The game itself has changed and the fans as well.
Boxing is entertainment sold to the public.
Once upon a time, if a fighter didn't entertain, then the fans booed, and the boring guy got a reputation as being not worth paying for (unless you were a sucker!), and promoters just wouldn't promote that guy because his name didn't sell tickets.
It used to be that fighters understood that one had to be entertaining to make money in Boxing. This concept is part of why Mike Tyson said he fought the way he did in his prime.
That concept is not so anymore.
People nowadays are perfectly content to pay top dollar for non-entertaining bore-fests, proven by Mayweather's outstanding PPV numbers and Wladimir selling out a German stadium every time out and setting television broadcast records in Germany. You hear griping that it wasn't exciting, but folks continue to pay their money. Promoters avoided selling $#!t in the past because it didn't sell, but nowadays, they realize people don't mind paying for $#!t at all !
In the past, I don't recall ever seeing so many boring top fighters as there are right now! Boring, yet so well-paid that they only have to fight once or twice a year!

Re: Top 5 Most Boring Champions of ALL TIME
Wladimir Klitschko vs Alex Leapai "did horrible ratings numbers on ESPN last month in the United States.... brought in just 468 000 viewers rather than the normal 1.4 million viewers that ESPN normally gets for that time-slot on Saturdays." - Yahoo.
^Y'see, the Yanks won't pay for Wladimir bore-fests, but it doesn't matter because the man is a huge DRAW in other countries. He doesn't need the United States because someone else will pay... and a lot !!!
Wladimir’s fight with Leapai does horrible ratings on ESPN

I don't understand why Floyd is called boring. I don't think he is greater than Leonard, Robinson...etc., but the guy is a great fighter n technician. He is also fighting well above his weight. He weighed in at 148. And probably walks around at 152. He's a 140 pound fighter at most, n he is beating top guys at 147 n 154. Not saying the guy is unbeatable n the greatest ever, but he has fought some good competition n looked good doing it. Canelo, Oscar, Baldy...etc. were much bigger. U can't fault him for not going toe to toe. That isn't his style n he would be dumb to do it. Fights vs Hatton, Maidana, Castillo, Chico, Hernandez...etc. were all good showings.
