Wlad would easily beat Stiverne
I am not trying to slate the new champion and well done to him knocking out Arreola last weekend. But looking at that performance it's clear that he is too small, he doesn't punch enough and he has a very low guard. He also fights mostly on the back foot and is looking for the counter and I don't see how somebody that much smaller would be effective doing that. I think he could last the distance but I don't see him being Wlad at all. I think he should fight Wilder next, that would be a better fight but again the size difference could be a factor. I know Stiverne knocked out David Price in the amatuers but Price can get knocked out.

Re: Wlad would easily beat Stiverne
It would be a good fight and intriguing if Stiv can land on Wlad's chin.
-
Re: Wlad would easily beat Stiverne
Disagree, I don't think it would be close and I don't see Stiverne getting close at all to his chin.

Re: Wlad would easily beat Stiverne
Bermane had a great fight with Arreola he landed hard, he followed up, and he closed the show.
I did notice that Bermane liked waiting out Arreola. B would move against the ropes, absorb an attack and then fire back once Cris was tired, or if there was an opening. Those openings won't be available the same way vs Wlad or vs Wilder. Arreola didn't move his head much and he was easy to find to the body...that's going to be considerably different than Wlad or Wilder who don't have big beer bellies on them, there will just be less area to hit.
I hope the guy continues to be a strong tough fighter, but I also hope he makes a unification bout soon.

Those tactics for sure wont work vs those two. I think hes too slow to do anything really, hes got power but with no size or speed hes not going to keep that belt for long.

Re: Wlad would easily beat Stiverne
unbder wlads rules it would be a carbon copy of the rest of his defenses
in america it might be interesting

Re: Wlad would easily beat Stiverne
Ha, I hate to say it but he doesn't deserve a world title, we criticize Wlad but Stiverne will not last 3 with either Klitschko. Vitali wants it back he can have it back inside a few short months.
Klitschko would do him harm. Imagine if it was Wlad or Vitali that had him against the ropes that many times?
Joke champion, at least he has 15 minutes. He should avoid Klitschko, Wilder and Fury.
-
Re: Wlad would easily beat Stiverne
the only way stiverne wins is just going straight forward and trying to knock him out. he cant fight the same fight as he did against arreola because wlad will just keep him on the end of his jab.

Stiverne would knock Fury spark out. Fury wouldn't be getting up from a Stiverne right hand.

Re: Wlad would easily beat Stiverne
I'm interested in its historical significance but from a style perspective its a cautious safety first fighter verses a possum. It could prove to be about as exciting as watching the mating ritual of dragon flies on top of pond scum on the National Geo channel. Or because of that we could get a shocker with one or both approaching this fight differently. After all, it would be for the undisputed heavyweight championship of the world.
-
Re: Wlad would easily beat Stiverne
I say IF Wilder can take the belt from Stiverne, and I think he can, then we would have a heavyweight unification bout worth getting excited for.
Truthfully, I'd like to see Wilder take on a good world class opponent (Chisora, Thompson, even Charr) first then face Stiverne.

Have to disagree, Sir. I think Wlad jabs him into "the hell with it land", then right hands him into "thank God, I have a way out land".
Sorry, I think Stiverne will have a short reign, unless he has a secret weapon we haven't seen.
Just my opinion and I've been wrong lots and lots.

I think you are right but Stiv throws sneaky fast punches and he could land them and cause Wlad to hold.
-
Re: Wlad would easily beat Stiverne
Stiverne is fast, and to be quite honest I am 100% certain Bermane would go past 3 vs Wlad or Vitali....Bermane has a good chin. Arreola was throwing big clubbing punches and Bermane took them...now that's not the same kind of power Wlad has, but I think Bermane will last until the halfway point if not a little after. Bermane has awkward punches, he's got a curve to them that doesn't take speed off of them but will make them land where it'll mess up a fighter's balance. I doubt Wlad will have too tough a time with Bermane, but he will need to be wary of the power Stiverne carries.

WBC said that Stiverne has to fight Wilder next.

If Stiverne can take it past 5 rounds then he stands a better chance not because he will tire Wilder but he may frustrate him into making a mistake.

Re: Wlad would easily beat Stiverne
Wilder never takes his time to settle in the ring either so I think he'll always be a first half fighter. He will let the hands fly immediately. How he handles someone that punches back is the main issue...can he control distance? Can he control pace? Will he force it or will he wait for the right opening? Wilder is just a mountain of unknowns.
-
Re: Wlad would easily beat Stiverne
Like everyone else, I want to see Wilder in big fight, I like the guy but I want to like him more
I'm not a Wlad fan at all but I think he would beat Stiverne without much problem. Wlad is a crafty SOB and he knows how to win a fight no matter how ugly he looks doing it.
-
Re: Wlad would easily beat Stiverne
Lyle makes great points, Stiv is very fast. Like Michael Dokes, deceptively fast. He would survive probably the whole fight with Wlad.
-
Re: Wlad would easily beat Stiverne
I agree. Stiverne is nothing special and he's no match for Wlad..
Im not sure Stiverne beats jennings.. probably not.

Tyson fury would smoke him too

these things can always get delayed.. pulev has been number 1 for a while but he wanted to have a few more fights before fighting wlad.. povetkin was mandatory for years before declining the opportunity.. I think wladimir will chase the wbc belt and win it and not long afterwards retire after he finds out he is not allowed at the olympics in 2016.. and team fury will dilly dally and fight for the vacant belt S:
it seems to be the way his career is going, he doesnt seem to be able to lose ! fury has cosmic energy on his side
-
Re: Wlad would easily beat Stiverne
Stiverne has to fight wilder though, Wlad should be a man and fight pulev, the fury and then wilder or stiverne .

Pulev is the one who got to number 1 status and chose to take 2 other fights before trying to make the wladimir fight.. Wladimir will take this fellows if he can but I think his focus is on the wbc belt and if he can get all 4 I think he's done.. He's old and would have it all, I dont think the motivation would be there to go on for another 10 or so fights to get to this joe louis record.. Then Fury can move in and rule the heavyweight scene !

Out of any contender about fury has the best chance of beating Wlad. But emphasise the word chance...fury would make it competitive but wlads boxing ability and experience at the highest level would be too much for Fury. I like fury a lot but I just know wlad is too much for fury. I've not seen any signs of late that Wlad has been vulnerable for a beating either. He is boring but really good wlad, he gets the job done.

I know the Brits are over the hill across the bridge for Fury but he just does not have a chance against Wlad. Fury depends on his size to win fights; pushing opponents around the ring and manhandling them in the corners; his jab and punch are decent but it's mainly due to his size; he uses his reach to keep his opponents at a safe distance but he depends on the advantage too much; his speed and athletic ability are OK, for a big man, but they just don't compare to what Wlad brings to the ring; last but not least, he does not have the experience that Wlad owns.
All the things that Fury has depended on over his career are going to be nullified when he gets into the ring with Wlad.
Honestly, I don't like the way either one of them fight but Wlad does it so much better!

Too small
You can always tell when somebody doesn't know what they're talking about. That too small shit is a dead givaway.
Brewster is the same size and KO'd Vlad.
Size isnt the reason he can't beat Vlad it's his inabilty to BOB and WEAVE his way in.
Vlad is a sitting duck for the 'bob and weave' style...
ALL tall fighters are.

You are right, in my opinion. If 'looking good' or 'pleasing the fans' ever enters Wlad's head, they're quickly dismissed.
He only thinks about winning. I feel like there should something wrong with that, but it's boxing and I can't think of a good argument. Can you?

Vlad only thinks about getting KO'd again...hence his cowardly based style.
