Stevenson's promoter sees no problem with setting up Hopkins fight
Yvon Michel sees no problems with setting up a fight between Stevenson and Hopkins
http://http://www.boxingscene.com/ho...-michel--78210
Would you rather see this or a fight with Kovalev ?

Re: Stevenson's promoter sees no problem with setting up Hopkins fight
Hopkins v Stevenson is a natural unification fight, both want it so it needs to happen. Kovalev will get the winner.

Agreed and a real chance exists for the first undisputed champion in years. I suspect those pesky mandatory fights might get in the way but we shall see.

Those mandatories can be managed away if you get my drift. ;)

Sadly they can also be used as a crutch.
Something to think about: Did you notice Hopkins does not talk about Kovalev and neither does Stevenson. I'm sure they both heard his black man rant after his last fight and he does come across as a guy that might wear a gorilla suit to a hockey game when a black man is on the opposing team.
Its also pretty clear to me that Hopkins has some race issues as does Adonis. Not sure on Haymon but it would not surprise me if Kovalev gets FROZEN out.

Race will not get in the way of Hopkins v Kovalev as much as money, TV networks and right promoters

Re: Stevenson's promoter sees no problem with setting up Hopkins fight
Id rather see Kovalev.
Bhop has a long history of taking guys like Stevenson and making them look like dog shit.
-
I don't think Hop cares about Kov being a racist. Hop said some racist stuff prior to fighting Calzaghe. The only color Bernard cares about, as it should be, is green. He will school both guys. Neither is good enough to beat him. Guys who rely on their punch r his favorite. His mentality, chin, and style r perfectly suited to defuse the bombs thrown by these HUGE punchers. If you think back to when Oleg Maskaev had a belt, Hop was looking to go up in weight and fight him. Why was that? Because just like Kovalev, Maskaev had a big punch and was a sturdy guy, but came in straight lines and liked to load up on the right. Hop is too slick to lose to those types n he knows it. Stevenson is chinny, has stamina issues, n isn't very experienced. Hop eats him alive.

Both are extremely hard fights for Hopkins at his age and neither are formalities. Hopkins would fight it easier against Stevenson but I think Kovalev has the beating of B Hop.
-
Hopis 50 fighting guys 14 years n more younger than him ranked in the top 5 in the world, so they will be "hard" n "dangerous". That being said, they aren't bad style match ups like Dawson n Joe C were. You make a valid point though.

I like it too, and it makes sense.

Re: Stevenson's promoter sees no problem with setting up Hopkins fight
If Kovalev beats Pascal, and Stevenson beats Hopkins, a Kovalev-Stevenson showdown would be huge.
-
Re: Stevenson's promoter sees no problem with setting up Hopkins fight
Huh what is this about Kovalev being racist? Doubt a racist would allow himself to be trained by two black dudes and take orders from them...
-
Can a HBO fighter mix it up with a SHOWTIME fighter?!

I think it comes from Kovalev's comments towards Sillakh. Supposedly, he called black people "sun-burnt people".
-
Re: Stevenson's promoter sees no problem with setting up Hopkins fight
It was all in the works yeh. Jump ship, win against Fonfara and keep it all in the family with a Hopkins match. Hope for but think that the egos and politricks will allow a unified champion, not to mention the network clowns will not work together. The wba has already made a stink about "super" champ Hopkins needing to face its "regular" champion. Its ridiculous. Reading these ranking I don't know if I'm in grammar school or buying gasoline.

Maybe I am not as pc as I should be and while that comment doesn't sound like the most educated I fail to see where it is racist/hateful...oh well I tend to look towards behavior more than words when evaluating a person.

Sure seem like you do as well....after reading that shit you just posted.
Al Haymon isn't stopping any fights from getting made so you can forget making him the bad guy...he manages Lucas Matheysse and Mayweather..
I just don't see all these fights Al Haymon is killing...maybe you have some other problem with him.
Kovalev was Hopkins Manditiory but he skipping it to fight the dreaded Nathan Cleverly..
Can't blame that shit on B-hop
Hopkins has been quite vocal about it too.

Problem is you don't even know the people you "evaluate" and for all we know you need to be evaluated yourself.;D
Kovalev has been pulled to the side about his racist comments.
He's the same kind of arrogant shit talking motherfucker you hate..except his compexion is to your liking.
Let's shine the spotlight on him and see if he can pass one of your dreaded "evaluations"
-
Whoops you caught me im a huge racist what can I say I only root for whitey cause if it ain't white it ain't right . you don't know jack shit about me less than I know about these fighters, don't make dum ass assumptions, thatll be my one reply to you idiot.

Cyclone what the fuck is your problem you judgemental racist piece of shit? Stop having a go at anybody that you perceive as being white purely because they don't sing from the same retarded song sheet as you. The only person here with a problem is you and you are bending over backwards to put a monkey on your own back. Virtually every post you make is about race and an effort to slander long term posters, none of whom are as bigoted as you and some of whom are actually black you ignorant twat.

I was going to say I am fairly certain "IamInuit" isn't white...

Well, think he's Canadian so dimwit would still have not being 'Murican against him ???

Re: Stevenson's promoter sees no problem with setting up Hopkins fight
I don't see this fight not being made. It's too big of a fight for both sides to turn down. No mandatories will get in the way.

I agree I dont think hopkins makes enough money to dodge people right now, he'll take on whoever brings the money I think.... even though bernard doesnt bring a huge amount of money he has a wells deserved great reputation in the boxing world so he should bring the good canadian stevenson his biggest fight to date.. good for both.... i see this more likely than either v kovalev just now.. I think all of the big 3 here(hop, kovalev , adonis) will just go where the money is and this where the money is i tihnk

Look go fuck yourself you pathetic marble. Kovalev left Kellerman gob smacked with his comments and may or may not be a racist you dumb ass tadpole. I said it wouldn't surprise me if he showed up in a gorilla suit I didn't say he would. And Hopkins comes across as a guy that is not to keen either. I was merely putting across a hypothetical you delirious half wit. Wake up Johnny Appleseed there is no country on earth as hung up on race as yours so its not some giant leap to suggest this whole thing could go there over moral objection.

Re: Stevenson's promoter sees no problem with setting up Hopkins fight
From what the medias here in Quebec are telling, Hopkins and Kovalev are likely Stevenson's 2 next fights. Anything can happen on boxingplanet but I am pretty sure that this persistant rumor has a lot of truth to it. Would Stevenson win these two fights, Yvon MIchel would apparently have the potential idea to pit him against Jean Pascal, another of the top boxers in his stable. That could be truly a huge fight here in Montreal and a pretty solid one overall.

Stevenson might as well fight the top fighters whilst he is on a hot run and in form.

Stevenson is fighting better guys than Kovalev.
-
Hop will beat Stevenson. Bad. Adonis doesn't have the experience to beat Hop. Hop will beat Kivalev on mobility and hand speed and ring generalship. Kovalev stops Adonis but Adonis will lose to the first world class guy he fights so he might as well get the most money for his risk.
-
Re: Stevenson's promoter sees no problem with setting up Hopkins fight
Stevenson is made to order for Hop: a guy with questionable stamina who is constantly looking for the one big punch.
Hop has been making guys that look horrible for decades.
-
Re: Stevenson's promoter sees no problem with setting up Hopkins fight
B hop will take the young boy back to old school and make him learn his ABC's. Then the Alien needs the 175 showdown with Kovalev and then have the supreme showdown with Froch ;D If this happened I would be a happy man ;D;D;D;D
-
Crazy as it sounds, I actually think Froch has the right style and mentality to beat Bernard at this point of their careers. Froch will force a fast pace and not over think while he is in there. He will miss a lot and take some hard counters, but he is just mobile n fast enough n can box enough to outhustle BHOP at this point. I don't like that match up for Hop at all.

Since when does Froch force a fast pace?
Carl doesn't move his head after he punches at all...he's a sitting duck.

Stevenson is a whole lot more dangerous than Chad Dawson.

Have to disagree with you, Sir. Hopkins is very good at dictating the pace of his fights.
I would love to see Froch beat Hopkins but I don't think he has the speed, movement or experience to get the job done.
Froch is tough and tough minded but he's no Calzaghe, in my opinion. BTW, I'm glad he doesn't fight like Calzaghe.
-
Re: Stevenson's promoter sees no problem with setting up Hopkins fight
OH MY GOD would Froch get embarrassed by Hopkins. Holy shit would that be one sided as all hell.
-
Re: Stevenson's promoter sees no problem with setting up Hopkins fight
Froch does not fight or punch fast enough to trouble a light heavy B Hop, busier younger fighters have tried. Froch is not like Joe, Tayler or Dawson.
-
Ah, maybe u guys are right. Froch isn't as fast or gifted as Joe, Taylor, n Dawson, but he has that mentality to force the fight and is strong enough to mannandle hop b wear him out. I agree that he isn't as mobile as the other guys, I just think he is strong enough mentally and physically to force a fight that wears hop out and let's him get the decision.
