As a Yank, I say baseball. They are both so technical but power can also win it for you along with mistakes by an inferior opponent. Ice hockey would be my next pick because of the pure grit you need to play it. Thoughts ??

you could only compare it to other one on one physical sports like MMA or wrestling. technique is key but you will need at least a good amount of strength to get to the top.
You can play baseball, you can play hockey, you don't play boxing. End of discussion.
I love extreme adrenalin sports like the TT and massive surf, boxing is an adrenalin sport too if you know, you know.
It's kind of like chess, but instead of getting a checkmate you get punched in the f'ing face.
I could liken it to Tennis. Particularly the current versions of both sports.
Two guys, mano-a-mano (of sorts). Out-thinking, out-manoeuvring, out-lasting each other... Making each shot count - being as clinical as possible. Big-hitters, Quick-witters. Conditioning is everything.
The contests tend to have the same narrative and the same subtext.

I'd rather watch boxing than any other sport! The attraction has been constant and undeniable since I saw my first match.
MMA is a close second.
I prefer MMA to be honest, because it's a much more "all-encompassing" combat sport and much more dynamic with the stand up and ground fighting.
Being Canadian, I love hockey. Very exciting and fast paced, and people underestimate the toughness in takes to compete in the NHL. Very brutal sport, hockey players constantly get slammed into the boards, catch sticks and pucks to the body and face, have teeth knocked out and jaws broken, and are expected to play on.
Kick boxing, MMA and UFC are obvious examples. I recently watched UFC and it was brutal, my son who likes boxing cringed when he saw UFC for the first time.

Hmm. I am a Power Lifter and compete throughout North America, The similarities are many. Training, focus, discipline, rest between events, getting the edge, etc.
In Powerlifting, like in most sports and even in most other endeavors, going into competition with a fine-tuned sharpness can often provide an ever-so-slight edge. But how does a lifter go about honing that edge? A very few do it the wrong way by using PEDs (aka performance enhancing drugs). However, there is any number of legitimate ways to get an edge. Some are tangible; others are not. The list I developed was taken from a list I developed for boxing.
