NBC & SHOWTIME cards tonight
NBC starts at 6 pm with Karl Dargan 15-0 (7) fighting Anthony Flores 11-4-1 (6). Dargan is well skilled but tends to be another in the line of pickers and choosers with punches. He could do with stepping up pace and should shine here.
Anatoily Dudchenko 19-2 (13) vs. Nadjib Mohammedi 34-3 (26) in a Lt. Heavyweight bout. Think this is a title elimination fight for a Hopkins trinket. I seriously think he would have a more difficult time spelling their names than he would defeating the winner in the ring, but we'll see.
Showtime and Showextreme....Extreme starts at 7 pm and will likely feature the return of Chad Dawson fighting George Blades Lt. Heavies. Heavyweights Dominic Breazeale 10-0 (9) vs Devin Vargas 18-3 (7). Breazeale reminds me a bit of Calvin Brock. Both of them represented the U.S in the Olympics, a lifetime ago for Vargas. He also has the unfortunate distinction of being badly beat up and knocked out by Kevin 'Nerf Ball' Johnson :-X Yikes.
Showtime triple header starts at 9 pm. There was another thread that could have been used but a couple of neighborhood kids turned it into a trashed coloring book and started slamming down their crayons on the keyboard thus making it a race baiting mess. Devon Alexander 25-2 (14) vs Jesus Soto Karass 28-9-3 (18 ) at jr middle (??)...Robert Guerrero 31-2-1 (18 ) gets back in action fighting Yoshihiro Kamegai 24-1-1 (21). If Guerrero is rusty and coasting, he will probably find himself being outhustled. Then the curiosity and one that could be a coin flip. Gary Russell Jr 24-0 (14) vs Vasyl Lomanchenko 1-1 (1). What defines "true" experience, quality vs quanity? Number of starts and hands raised? Should be a nice fight, we can only hope.

Damn! Had no idea Dawson was making his comeback, against a puncher no less.
Blades KOd iron chinned Librado Andrade as I recall.
Looking forward to this and some action packed GLORY kickboxing tonight on spike TV.

Re: NBC & SHOWTIME cards tonight
Ok, well NBC listed a 6 o'clock start but is for a re air of...wait for it...Kermit Cintron vs Ronald Cruz from March :-X Lets just say its another chance to see how much Cintron has "left" *cough. Cruz is fighting undefeated Errol Spence next weekend
Dargan card goes head to head with Showtime Extreme at 7 pm. One hour.

It'll be interesting to at least see him back in but should have his way. Don't think that's Blades as he has been pretty passive and beat down by Pascal last and a guy who was ko'd recently by a 101 yr old Jorge Castro ;D
Guess he has no desire to go back to 168. Honestly can't see Dawson having the strength or fire at 175 but we'll see.
Cro- cop on Spike? Thought he retired yeh. Was that the one who had his leg bent backwards last year?
-
Re: NBC & SHOWTIME cards tonight
This might get scattered as both now start...primary is catching Showtime extreme. Breazeale vs Vargas at the bell. Don't know if I'd get up and go to the fridge here. Vargas has that "look" :beatup2:
-
Re: NBC & SHOWTIME cards tonight
Tough 1st for Vargas but landed a fair share of left hooks. Breazeale seriously needs to learn to duck, catches way too much. Good inside shots by him at rounds end...Vargas dropped in 2nd by what clearly looked like shot to back of head, ref totally blew him off..he is getting hammered like a nail. On replay, good call by ref
Dargan vs Flores at the bell. Dargan is a very sharp counter hitter but poses, tries to be picture perfect
-
Re: NBC & SHOWTIME cards tonight
Vargas wants to quit so he starts complaining. than says fuck it. And starts winging left hooks.
-
Re: NBC & SHOWTIME cards tonight
Bad stoppage. But it's Vargas fault

Right on cue, 2nd times the charm ;D...Vargas just gave it up and looked like he was about to Eubanks the top rope
-
Re: NBC & SHOWTIME cards tonight
Dargan and Demetrious Andrade same stable ??? You can see it. Solid ring control but not really setting up attack, waiting for sharp counters over first 3 rounds
-
Re: NBC & SHOWTIME cards tonight
Dargan just got down to business! After patchy 4th where he gave up range, comes out behind jab and detonates Flores with almost a straight/uppercut right hand that had Flores out and down hard! Way to close it down. Nice hands

Re: NBC & SHOWTIME cards tonight
Dawson puts on 20 lbs since the weigh in ???
Ok, tells me what I need to know :vd: 200 lbs here ???
Wow, this was a joke. Blade down twice, wearing knee braces on both knees and should have never left the hotel room.
-
Re: NBC & SHOWTIME cards tonight
Dawson did what he had to do I suppose. Blades went in looking to take a count
-
Re: NBC & SHOWTIME cards tonight
Evening everybody. Guerrero/Alexander/Lomachenko for me. Dawsom made 15k for that fight. Blades made 20k. :)
-
Re: NBC & SHOWTIME cards tonight
Dudchenko and Mohammedi in the ring...Mohammedi dressed like is working a bachelor party and waiting on dollar bills
Just can't see Hopkins meeting the 90 days window to fight winner. Just a needless roadblock for Stevenson fight

Whats up bud, see that's whats wrong with the throwing money at lack of effort increasing today. Dawson knows he has bigger-better paydays ahead on name so calculate a debit for air time...Blades gets +5k tacked on for effectively finding a soft spot to tie his shoes. 202 is just bs. Ya had 12 months off. Make it 13 and come in at least near contract ffs.
-
Re: NBC & SHOWTIME cards tonight
Ref has his hands full, Mohammedi real physical and Dudchenko cannot get anything going. Asking score between rounds, not a good sign
Mohammedi has him all over the place and stuck in corners. Dudchenko doesn't look so interested

He's a Haymon fighter now. He's probably expecting to coast to another title shot even though he's a boring fucker who can't draw flies.
Mohammedi is doing a number on the big lad.
-
Re: NBC & SHOWTIME cards tonight
Mohammedi lunges the jab off his tippy toes and holds head real high, ugly awkward...*Hopkins somewhere :work33: *
-
Re: NBC & SHOWTIME cards tonight
Mohammedi should dig to the body when he gets the opportunity. He's looking to make a statement and he probably will.
-
Re: NBC & SHOWTIME cards tonight
I like this guy. Sloppy and choppy but damn he wants to force the issue, constantly. A counter right would put him on his arse vs Hopkins but tv friendly and zero stage fright first time out of France
Damn, that's all she wrote! Allllll one way traffic. Way to close the show
-
Re: NBC & SHOWTIME cards tonight
Soto Karass and Alexander at the bell. There is something nice about a outdoor ring...lets hope this starts quick. Frankly it'll all come down to what Soto Karass has left
This was a 'catchweight' of 149 lbs??? Just getting silly now
-
Re: NBC & SHOWTIME cards tonight
Alexander speed is controlling the fight.
Why these guys dressed like twins?
-
Re: NBC & SHOWTIME cards tonight
Very controlled ring by Alexander so far. Soto Karass is throwing punches via dial up. Landed a big shot in 1st but Devon picking shots...Soto Karass switches to southpaw and is finding a home now, just for a moment. Smart boxing by Alexander but surely his feet will slow down
-
Alexander is surprising me, doing a lot more punching than usual. I keep waiting for him to start hitting and holding.
-
Re: NBC & SHOWTIME cards tonight
Soto Karass southpaw last two rounds and clipping Alexander more. Devon is starting to get into sloppy exchanges, but still landing far sharper. Soto Karass would be well advised to bank heavily on that jab and straight shots. Some of those wide hooks literally look like his gloves weigh 20 lbs
-
Re: NBC & SHOWTIME cards tonight
This is as close as you're ever going to get to Devon Alexander putting on a show. I wouldn't mind Guerrero versus Alexander for their next fights.

Agreed, kept it tight early.
Fun last round, both looking to swap. No prevent defense here. Punch for punch 10th round!
-
Re: NBC & SHOWTIME cards tonight
Steve Bunce : "The only time Soto's head moved was when Alexander's fists moved it."
He does need to retire. He's lost seven out of his last eleven and he's taken some beatings. Unfortunately he's probably going to take a few more.
-
Re: NBC & SHOWTIME cards tonight
Really looking forward to this Lomoachenko-Russell fight
-
Re: NBC & SHOWTIME cards tonight
I don't know about all of you, but this is the fight I tuned in to see.
-
Re: NBC & SHOWTIME cards tonight
Guerrero is the main event? Ha.
The Corona girl with the dark hair would get it.
-
Re: NBC & SHOWTIME cards tonight
Have a funny feeling Russell jr is going to get beat up to the point of bubble snot if he doesn't get a ko early..
Hoping for a solid scrap, both have everything to prove

It's easy to get the feeling that there's a lot of pride on the line tonight.

Re: NBC & SHOWTIME cards tonight
I Always like Devon. Not strictly for his boxing but he seems like a nice dude. He looked tonight and I hope he continues. I'm really looking forward to seeing the ghost tonight. I used to love his uppercut and I don't think he threw one against Floyd. Not inky did his performance against look lackluster but the way he handled himself after the fight was ridiculous.
Good job for Devon, I'd like to see Vassily do something but this eve is a good night of boxing barring any unforseen circumstances.
-
Re: NBC & SHOWTIME cards tonight
OK, this is shaping up to be special.
I said this could be a chess match. :)
-
Re: NBC & SHOWTIME cards tonight
That there is ring confidence and dictating pace. Russell can't box him..and not sure he can hurt him. Fun stuff early
-
Russell Jr looks like he doesn't look comfortable throwing combinations after being caught with a right hook a couple times.
-
Re: NBC & SHOWTIME cards tonight
Got Loma up 2 rounds to 0
-
Russell coulda taken the 3rd.
4th* sorry
