Floyd Mayweather v Marcos Maidana 2 fight chat thread
I thought I would get the ball rolling with this being a mega fight and no doubt the biggest event of the year in the boxing calendar. The first fight in my eyes was close but I still had Floyd being the winner in a really exciting showdown. Maidana looked amazing at the start of the fight and if he wants to win he really does have to sustain that pace for the whole 12 rounds. But I just don't see how anybody can fight like that for 12 rounds, and I know hes been working on improving his conditioning but I am still not sure if he can do that.
Floyd I think knows what to expect now and will have learnt a lot from the first fight and what adjustments are needed to get the win. Like he does if he is losing at the start, he changes things and gets the win. Now he knows what Maidana is I just don't see how hes going to be silly enough to make mistakes and lose a decision and theres no way Floyd is going to get knocked out. Maidana wont be any different, just a bit more confident and that could leave gaps if you ask me. I think Floyd will win a UD decision, maybe giving away a couple of early rounds but he will be a lot more defensive and outbox Maidana.
It will be a great fight though, I am looking forward to it. I am fighting myself on the Friday night against somebody who is 5-0 so this is a big weekend for boxing for me and I cant wait for the weekend to arrive now.
Here is an interview from Maidana: Boxing News | Marcos Maidana Speaks
and one for Floyd: Boxing News | Floyd Mayweather speaks
I will post stuff that I find in the week and hope everybody else will. ;D

I'm looking forward to this one too. Maidana really did put him to the test in the first fight based on pure rough play and I don't think Floyd really chose to stay on the ropes to entertain the fans. Despite what his dad implies in that article.
Floyd will adjust but so will Maidana; it will be Floyd trying to give a boxing lesson and Maidana not paying much attention. Just like in the first.
Floyd UD.
Good luck to you on Saturday.;)
Edit: on Friday.

Margarito kept that pace for 12 rounds and Garcia trained him for a while maybe he could teach him some better conditioning

I hope Maidana can pull it off but I'm expecting a much more one sided fight this time around. Floyd is the much smarter fighter and is the one who has the ability to adapt and make adjustments. I think he kind of figured Maidana out in the mid rounds and that's why he won. I see him getting on Maidana from the get go this time around.

I agree with you, especially about Floyd laying on the ropes.
I just can't imagine Floyd taking needless punches, allowing himself to look bad, or losing rounds deliberately. No way!!
I think Floyd is going to win but I'm also hoping that Maidana brings enough to make Floyd look like he is in a fight. Seriously, I want to see both these fighters really earn their big paydays.
Looking forward to fight night!

I am not excited about this fight. The first fight was not brilliant and All Access is all hype, making the fight out to be a big event when in reality it will be a one sided UD.

Still not sure if I'm going to stay up to watch this, and no doubt Master's right that Mayweather should take the UD fairly comfortably, but you never know what might happen. Money can't keep you young after all.

Tell that to Hopkins.
Better fighters recently have lost to Floyd than Maidana. Floyd took Chino for granted and he will not do the same this time.

The keys to Maidana winning!
I think all fighters have a chance to win. Some big, some small, some in between. Maidana's chances of winning against Floyd is somewhere between small and in-between.
Let's get this right off the bat: Styles makes fights. Maidana's style can bother Mayweather as it had in the first fight. In fact, Maidana's swarming style is the same style that was employed by Zab Judah, Jose Castillo and Emmanuel Agustus- all of whom gave Floyd tremendous trouble. Cotto used a swarm strategy for some portions of the fight as well, with some success.
Let's look at some keys:
1. Keep Floyd's back to the ropes for at least 2 minutes of every round. Especially the last minute of the round. Let the judges see you smother him and hitting him with shots to the liver and crown right at the end of the round.
2. Power through with the straight jab. Sure, you are going to get hit over the top with Floyd's right. But, if you power through with it, with head low and barrelling in- especially paying attention to Floyd's feet as he tries to move right back foot- you have a better chance at creating some opportunities for yourself with throwing Floyd off of his rhythm, at least.
3. Don't let Floyd get set on his back right foot to throw the right hand. This is key. You cant stand in Floyd's wheel-house to throw that right hand to score when he feels like. Do NOT take two of them in a row if you can help it. Keep him moving backwards to his right... taking power off of the right hand by taking away the leverage. Make him throw the left hook- which is his Floyd slowest and most telegraphed punch.
Floyd's left hook is so lazy that it makes me laugh when he tries to throw it.
That's it for me.

iF FLOYD GOES 49-0 OR 50-0 EITHER WAY ITS A PROBLEM
49-0 he will never have exceeded marciano
50-0 then 50 cent will say he did it to be like 50 cent
maywether needs to go 51-0 to feel happy inside.

I have a feeling that mayweather will lose...
i dont question his work ethic because he is always in shape but i do think that he has slowly given into temptation that he didnt used to. he is slowly focusing on other things besides the fight in front of him. its understandable since he is older and im sure that it wears on you, but maidana really shouldnt have even make a fight with mayweather. floyd is the exact style that maidana cant handle. i think with age setting in along with bad habits like drugs(im assuming) and fast food, he wont be able to handle the pressure.
this whole time i thought that floyd would for sure win, but now im not so sure. if there were ever a time for me to bet against floyd, its now i think. but who knows, maybe im completely wrong and he will easily win.

Dunno anymore?!?! With Floyd partying harder than ever, with his diet changing, and now he appears to be smoking, not to mention his age and at this point in his career, eyeing retirement- he may be more vulnerable than ever now.

I'm saying this too. Floyd has on his plate:
1. Marcos Maidana! A man who has seen him, up close and personal, just recently- and has a better idea of Floyd's fighting capabilities than even his sparring partners
2. Floyd's age
3. Floyd appears to be partying harder- smoking, drinking, and lots of whores around him
4. He admits to doing Yoga to limber up his bruised limbs and muscles
5. He's taking into this fight the last few months of on-line abuse from his literacy problem
6. He's taking 50 Cent's abuse into this fight and the mental distraction is has caused
7. Floyd is taking into the fight a long-standing personal problem, which may turn criminal and punitive, with Shantell Jackson- his ex.
8. His friends are brand new, blood-sucking leeches
9. He eats more McDonalds now than ever before- and if he eats Micky D's, then he probably started eating more garbage and gook
10. He is on the verge of retirement, rich and that within itself makes you take your mind/eye off of the tremendous task of fighting at the optimal level we know him to be at
11. His recent comments with regard to the Ray Rice domestic violence issue, is enough to turn folks- judges, ref's and fight-time officials against him
12. Golden Boy is in a state of transition, with his new promotional company he just started, can Al Haymon make fight-night "right" for Floyd Mayweather.
13. Floyd Sr. is defensive minded, and is not the aggressive tiger as Roger Mayweather is- this can help more than hurt. But we will see. Since Floyd Sr. became the head coach, Floyd has taken slightly more abuse as of late.
Floyd is, for the first time since his conviction and prison term, fighting with a tremendous weight on his back aside from his opponent.

Shame on you, for trying to spoil our fun.
This fight is going to be exciting in every way! Floyd is fighting to right a wrong, he thinks Maidana cheated with dirty tactics. I have to be honest and say that Marcos was fighting in a rough and mean spirited manner, that must have been a real surprise to Floyd. lol
Maidana also is fighting to right a wrong, he thinks he would have gotten the decision in any other town. I hate say this about an upstanding, jewel of a city like Las Vegas, but Maidana could possibly have a legitimate concern. lol
Master, do not mess with my fight night, this main event is going to be a humdinger!
I will say that Floyd won the first fight, and I'm hoping that they are both at their best this time too.
Master, don't force me to put a negatory symbol next to your name. lol

Will Mayweather vs. Maidana II resemble Jones vs. Tarver II ?
I think it could. Slim chance I know, but it could mirror the Jones vs. Tarver rematch with the P4P phenom finally slowing down enough to be mortal and get KO'd.
Will it happen?
Probably not.
But, some of us can dream.
-
I understand why you would post this, but Tarver was much closer to beating Roy Jones vs Roy making adjustments in the rematch than Maidana closing in on Floyd tomorrow and Floyd making adjustments.

I think this may happen.
If Floyd maintains the correct distance and hits Maidana with all the shots he did in the previous fight... The ones where Maidana was coming in and Floyd butchered him with straight rights and double left hooks.
Chunky may go down.

I can see Floyd frustrating Maidana, then Chino getting over anxious and careless and walking onto something

You normally talk sense but there is no way Floyd legitimately KO's Maidana. Why is this ppv? This is a crap fight.
