And Obama is the least militaristic senior politician in America. Any Republican and even Hillary, especially Hillary, would have done far more bombing than Obama has.

You DO understand that this recent "air strike strategy" was brought about by the many many blunders of President Obama right? Time table, leaving Iraq before they were ready, leaving a vacuum in Iraq for ISIS to fill.....Obama OWNS those decisions whether he or any of his sycophantic lickspittles like it or not!
Mr. Peace Prize...everybody loves Obama...especially Kirkland whose only defense of Obama now is that he's "not as bad as the others".....pathetic, own what YOU supported

This just started. Obama just became a president who ran on ending wars to now being judged if he can run one correctly. It's already predicted this thing May go on for years. Judging by history I can't see how US boots won't end up on the ground.

You can't half ass a war and Obama's policies will harm more people than they help because he's not "going for a victory" he's stuck in the Clinton Conundrum....can he attempt to win a war while still keeping the affection of his peacenik hippy liberal base? And the answer is NO it's a resounding NO.
We won't maintain any peace without boots on the ground. This line of action is essentially spraying water on a hornets nest....it's stupid, War is an all or nothing proposition, you're either in it to win it or you're wasting lives and money
-
Re: US and Coalition strikes Syria
Yes, the only way we could win from the air is if we nuke the area. I think Isis may enjoy the air strikes to an extent as it gets them attention and further inflamed the radicals while still allowing them to operate.
-
I feel for the families who had their loved ones beheaded but human beings really seem to just care about their own.
All the thousands of killings over there of innocent people/children and as soon as a few journalist get hit WW3 is pending.
Any death is terrible but usa or the uk wouldnt have bothered if it was just another muhamed on the box.
Should have started the bombings ages ago..why did the video have to happen first?
Ebola killing thousands...british guy gets it now we have and are ready to test a new vaccine.!
Its all bollocks.

Re: US and Coalition strikes Syria
Nuke?
No, I mean LARGE ground troop forces sweeping slowly and steadily across the area and massacring Islamic State fighters. Setting up refugee camps and protecting civilians while hammering the hell out of our enemies.
Our enemies understand 1 thing FORCE and we have it, we just need a leader who will allow our troops and military leaders to do their jobs unencumbered by these bullshit rules of engagement...The United States has the greatest military in the entire world, let's not hamstring ourselves, if we were to stomp out the Islamic State in a precise and serious manner then it sends the message to any and all who would be our enemies that we're through fucking around with this shit.
This war has been kept going by the failures of POLITICIANS and that is the real tragedy here

I do not understand why we are strking IS. They are killing muslims and westerners like the ones before them. Why are IS so scary to the west?

They have more money and have stolen more weapons, and are attempting form a large nation dedicated to the destruction of the west. And they have declared war with us already.
We should nip it in the bud before we see huge terror attacks again

How can you prevent huge terror attacks?
They have no air defence or air attack so its a pretty easy battle of dropping bombs from a distance.
Wonder what would make the us drop a mini nuke?

I wasn't implying we should nuke the area. I was merely saying that would be the only way to win this war purely from the air pointing out ground troops will at some point be necessary. @Master, these guys said they will do anything they can to destroy the US. That is why this stuff, which we as a country are weary off, is happening. We would all prefer all to live and let live but when war is declared on you, I guess this is what happens

@walrus any group can say they declare war on US does not mean they stand a chance. I think we are playing into their hands. They are enticing a reaction and creating further terror.
On a separate note @Gandalf that link with that woman is brilliant, she is fit and great big lips. Love her accent.

Good man, she is brilliant. I love my wife tremendously, but if she would only talk to me like that. Syriangirl is why we must all resist American lies. And they are lies. Nobody believes them, they are bombing illegally. Again.

The timetable for leaving Iraq was agreed by the Bush administration before Obama took office. Whether American troops were in Iraq or not wouldn't stop ISIS fighting in Iraq. The more American troops you have in Iraq the more jihadis will flock there to fight them. Try and remember far back in the mists of time to ten years ago and see how reluctant jihadis were to fight in Iraq with 150 000 US troops there. Bush ended up having to put them on the payroll to stop them killing US soldiers while he negotiated his retreat from Iraq.
What Obama did do wrong was arming "moderate" jihadis in Syria who turned out to be not so moderate after all and are now fighting for ISIS. Ohter US pols would have sent them even more arms. Obama's strategy in Syria and Iraq is rubbish and doomed to failure but it's the least worst option he has.

The next US prez will almost certainly send troops in. In fact I'd put money on her doing it. And when she does Lyle will instantly switch from talking about mistakes through not using the military at every opportunity to talking about how Hillary has now started a disastrous quagmire war in Iraq.

They'll HAVE to send troops because Obama has destroyed any progress we made in the region. But hey that's what YOU want in a President...not me, I want a President who will wipe out our enemies, but hey let's futz around a bit it's only billions of dollars which could be best used elsewhere. You certainly pick some winners.

Re: US and Coalition strikes Syria
You are missing out as it is a very useful site. What would you classify as a credible news source?
There are 64 videos of Syrian people protesting in their droves and they don't look particularly extreme to me. Just ordinary Syrian people who are having their lives ruined by the war machine. What more can you ask for than evidence of people expressing themselves through protest? I know it's not so common in America to protest or for the media to report on it truthfully, but around the world people have free will and it must be shown. The BBC likewise ignores protests about themselves and Gaza. Any news source that reports the truth has credibility, those that ignore it completely have sold out to the war machine and political agenda.

Re: US and Coalition strikes Syria
I urge people to watch this interview with Chomsky from a year ago and contrast it with the situation today. Listen to the words of Obama himself, he preaches concern for people, but then went and armed psychopaths who then carried out genocide regardless. This was a civil war and the US sent in mercenaries trained in Jordan to muddy the waters, just like in Libya. This is on record. Of course then it was the spiel about chemical weapons which was of course another false flag lie of the West and carried out by the 'rebels' that Obama was arming. All quickly forgotten like that fallen airplane in the Ukraine who is apparently being nuked by Russia according to the same clowns that don't want to talk about airplanes anymore. This is pretty serious stuff and to then a year later be breaking international law again by bombing sovereign countries based on a menace that they armed Well, it is impeachable as an act of treason and is an act of aggression which violates international law.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bhomZN1mdhY
I believe they are buying time before they turn on Assad. By keeping the war in the air and killing civilians, they are practicing the future. It will be drones and bombing and who will need troops when you know there are no repercussions for killing civilians, after all a million dead in Iraq and a couple of million in Vietnam, what are more Syrians? After all we have sent in mercenaries from Jordan and killed tens of thousands already.
Shame on Labour, shame on Tories, shame on them all. I am disgusted. This is worse than Iraq. Worse! That was terrible, but to here create an enemy and then wade in. Shame on the mainstream media. Shame on the BBC. This is wrong. Good people are being twisted by lies and being preyed on. We are being divided here too with us all squabbling. It is what they want, they are winning.

What progress did you make exactly? The region is more stable and secure now than it was in 2002?
All this stuff about taking the gloves off and fighting a proper war and "wiping our enemies out" is just teenage boy wargame fantasies. It's just silly. Even the drooliest of the idiots on Fox News doesn't come out with such nonsense.
And just because having a black AG upset all the racist knuckledraggers in America doesn't mean that he's a criminal or that he's going to prison. Sorry to disappint you.

Before we (Barack Obama) withdrew troops there was no ISIS and now there IS ISIS and they are unsettling the region. No the region is LESS stable now and only a fuckwit like you would say it's more stable.
Silly? No silly is thinking a 100% air strike quasi-war will fix things.

We run into that a lot in America. If we critique Obama or another minority politician we are not exercising our constitutional rights, we are racist. It was very bad at the beginning of his term. Actually, even if you made a choice not to vote for him you were a racist. It truly is insane. I must really hate white people as I've critiqued a lot of white politicians. I'm white, does that mean I hate myself.
I wasn't surprised to see Holder step down. He really did walk a very fine line around a number of laws but all I've read about him kind of made me think he is a decent guy trying to do the right thing. I'm sure he'll write a nice thick book and live a comfortable life. He blew a number of calls but I'm not clamouring to lock him up.
