Has Jermain Taylor flown over the Cuckoo's nest?
In a very short video posted to Facebook, Jermain Taylor is shown playing drums, singing country music, and shooting off a gun– despite his recent arrest for shooting a cousin. He’s also shown saying, “I’ll never lose to another white boy,” in reference to this coming Wednesday’s bout against defending IBF middleweight champ, Sam Soliman. At the closing of the video, Taylor tells the camera: “Fuck You, God Bless You"
Oh, what do you make of this?

Taylor is likely just enjoying himself, I don't see the problem. Maybe his cousin was up to no good, I have no idea, but it's his choice to shoot guns and sell a fight with moderate racism. I've no problems with that unless he calls me white trash whilst aiming a gun at me. Hyping a fight and acting silly is par for the course isn't it?

Its amazing. Could you imagine the stick a white guy would get if he said I will never lose to a black man?

It's a shame, he used to carry himself with some class

Trying to set up his next fight.... even if he loses, he certainly can set up a high paying follow up fight.
What happened to him with Froch and Abraham was just tragic. He didn't need to lose those. Pavlik just beat his ass. lolol.... and that was understandable.
Re: Has Jermain Taylor flown over the Cuckoo's nest?
Nothing says repeat offender like coming off a shooting charge and then popping off random rounds from stacked clips. Taylor has always struck me as a bit rowdy South, off, but he's also accumulated a lot of damage.
Re: Has Jermain Taylor flown over the Cuckoo's nest?
Didn't Hopkins say he'd never lose to a white guy once? Kind of makes me hope Kovalev knocks him just short of unconscious so he still has to do a post fight interview. Its unlikely but I can still hope.
As for Taylor, its just attention getting. I don't believe he's all there and I felt sorry for him at one time where it seemed like he could out box his opponents just long enough to set himself up for a knockout. That kind of ended when he shouldn't have been in the ring but it seemed like his wife liked the money too much to let him stop. Maybe he's trying to live up to his ring name "bad intentions" which I was never really able to make the connection on to begin with.
Re: Has Jermain Taylor flown over the Cuckoo's nest?
His decline has been sad for me to watch because I was a big fan of his, I thought he was a fantastic fighter with a great jab, but he really went to shit after the Pavlik fights.
It's funny, I never realized all his loses were to white guys before he mentioned this haha.
Re: Has Jermain Taylor flown over the Cuckoo's nest?
If I'm being honest, it's a very selective video.
I could take snippets of anyone and make them appear nuts by doing that.
Re: Has Jermain Taylor flown over the Cuckoo's nest?
I think he was trying to be a bit self-deprecating...by saying he'll never lose to "another" white boy. I could be wrong, but I think Jermain was trying to take a shot at himself.
His attempt at humor failed miserably ;D

That's what I thought.
Here's a link to his instagram where the videos originated - Instagram
TheBoxingTribune/BoxingMemes spliced together a few of his instagram videos to make him look bad.
Re: Has Jermain Taylor flown over the Cuckoo's nest?
Seemed to me like he said it a bit tongue and cheek as well, no big deal. He almost definitely shouldn't be fighting at a high level imo, but no reason to assume he's a bad dude or anything, we don't know what happened the night he was arrested.
Re: Has Jermain Taylor flown over the Cuckoo's nest?
Is fighting Sam Soliman fighting at a high level though?
He could win a title here and then maybe Cotto?
Im surprised everyone seems to have forgotten about Solimans drug cheating...

I don't know, but it's still a world title and Taylor probably shouldn't be in that picture. Soliman being old and a non puncher might let Taylor compete or even win, but we haven't seen him fight a decent opponent since his bleeding on the brain and all of that. He was hurt badly against another club fighter on ESPN in one of his return bouts, I wouldn't be surprised to see him get hurt in this fight even, he's a liability.
I hadn't forgotten about the drugs either, pretty suspect that Soliman is even still around at his age with the way he fights.
