Predictions - GGG vs. Rubio?
Does it go rounds? Will Rubio be a tougher challenge than Geale, Macklin, Stevens, Adama and Proksa?

GGG in 6 or 7. Very onesided up til then.

I predict I will never bother watching this pointless fight. I predict I will watch the KO though

This is a showcase fight. There's no doubt about it. At the same time, Rubio is a legitimate top ten fighter at middleweight. We're not walking into a Rod Salka-Danny Garcia scenario. When are GGG fights not fun to watch? Even when we factor in that he's a big favorite to stop Rubio, I'm still looking forward to see him fight.
As we've talked about, I understand where you're coming from though if you're frustrated in seeing him clean out the division.
Still, with Walters-Donaire on the undercard too, I think it'll be a fun night of boxing.

Rubio is tough
I reckon he could take him rounds
-
Re: Predictions - GGG vs. Rubio?
Rubio is tough and I have no doubt Golovkin will stop him, but I have no predictions as to when. I will tune in (even if it is the recording I watch as if Live) to watch a master at work. I love GGG, always have and like the cut of his jib.

This is the most likely outcome. Rubio takes him rounds and eventually is stopped in the later rounds. This is what I expect. If it ends earlier and emphatically, it'll be a statement.

Re: Predictions - GGG vs. Rubio?
It's a cracking fight for the undercard of Donaire-Walters. Rubio is tough but offers nothing, it's just about how long he lasts. GGG will get slated by the walking dead however he wins here.
Sky Sports have bought it for the Brits, think this is the third GGG fight in a row, maybe looking for the future Froch fight

Re: Predictions - GGG vs. Rubio?
What would be the bigger upset -- Rubio beating GGG or Algieri defeating Pac?

I actually think Algieri is a live underdog in the Pacquiao fight. Pacquiao's the favorite, but Algieri has got a shot at boxing and moving to a decision. I would say Rubio beating GGG is a bigger upset.
-
Re: Predictions - GGG vs. Rubio?
I expect to see an even more dominant GGG. Hes going to make the ring very small for Rubio and probably put him down with a body shot in the fourth. Really looking forward to this fight.

Same and would just like to add that Rubio can punch and knows all the tricks.

I figure at least one of these fights will end in an upset.

Won't take much to pose a tougher challenge than they did

Come on, sir! Who do you think has a bigger chance of losing, or better yet, who do you want to see suffer an upset?
We all know anything can happen in a fight, who do you have doubts about?
Manny is looking old? GGG fights with too much abandon?
-
Re: Predictions - GGG vs. Rubio?
Golovkin wins by KO and something you don't see every day happens in the fight.

Re: Predictions - GGG vs. Rubio?
How about Donaire-Walters? I was somewhat surprised to see that Walters opened up as the favorite at -150. That's wild. I would have picked him in the upset, but I'm not sure I'd take him with those odds.

I've been calling a Chris Algieri upset since the fight was announced. I think he can out box a Manny that is past his prime, out of shape and taking him lightly.
I've always liked Rubio and I'd love him to win the fight but he hasn't seemed sharp lately and I hear he's having to cut a lot of weight for this fight.
As for Donaire... When was the last time he looked really good in a fight?
-
Re: Predictions - GGG vs. Rubio?
I like Walters to beat Donaire and wouldn't be shocked to see a bit of a beating. In many ways these guys are going in opposite directions and as long as Walters doesn't choke on huge fight stage, Donaire has been flirting with defeat and pushing his body and over reliance on looking for one bomb one time too often. Rubio is here because he is durable and experienced but ultimately he rarely if ever forgets his limitations when it comes to top flight fighters. Golovkin breaks up the body and gets tko 8 ish

Re: Predictions - GGG vs. Rubio?
Rubio has no chance to win this.
He has a slim chance of going the distance.
He's tough, has some power, but he cannot win the big one. He gets intimidated. Beating David Lemieux was a feel good victory though and a damn good one at the time.

The Lemieux victory was a good one for him. Given the odds and the expectations, it would be impressive to see Rubio take it some rounds.

Re: Predictions - GGG vs. Rubio?
GGG will stop him like Pavlik did.
-
Double happy another Golovkin fight is free on sky sports... agree with Fenster that maybe there's a Froch fight in the pipeline for 2015.
Lets hope so as that's about as good as it gets for me in boxing currently and its a nailed on brutal war.
Golovkin is just so good to watch, love his style, footwork and when he smells blood just irons the opponent out with serious power punches.
Id watch a GGG fight over a current Floyd fight any day of the week.
He entertains and Floyd hasn't in ages now.
For me he gets a stoppage around 7 rounds.

I think Donaire hasn't had is head fully in the ring since stepping into it with Rigondeaux. As long as Donaire has he head in the fight, he is much quicker, a better athlete and more skilled than Walters. All he has to do is use it. I don't expect Walters to make it through the late rounds if he does, he loses by a wide UD. If Rubio manages to go the distance, he'll would gain a new rep for a granite chin, but he won't last past the 6th.

You're picking Donaire?

I honestly haven't seen Donaire resembling a better athlete or showing a diverse skill even before Rigo. I think he terribly sold himself short as far as consistent skillset. He got drunk on his power a bit, loaded up and trained himself into bad habits and last resorts. Mentally and physically..he got and is fat. Explosive if a bit happy on his left hook and deep in experience yeh, but I think Walters is catching him at the right time and watched even Vic box him around and what his face looked like after and his talking about even staying on his stool. Huge stage and no doubt Donaire will take it serious, but I like Walters composure and two handed pop and isn't delusional with power. Confident, but not arsehole cocky. A bridge too far for Donaire in natural size and timing. Great scrap!

Re: Predictions - GGG vs. Rubio?
What Fenster said basically.
Rubio offers nothing but some pissy resistance and the opportunity to look maybe a little awkward.
-
Re: Predictions - GGG vs. Rubio?
I think that the human wrecking ball will simply slowly break the very tough Rubio down and get that one via KO. Still, that fight can't be a boring one.
-
Re: Predictions - GGG vs. Rubio?
I like Donaire as the underdog (waiting to see the method of victory markets).
I was impressed by Walters against Vic. But I was even more impressed by Donaire's viciousness last time out when he was carved up. Maybe a changing of the guard fight, but i'll gladly go with the proven class

Very reasonable.
I haven't liked how Donaire has looked in a while as @Spicoli said since before the Rigo fight really. Rigo isn't a big puncher at 122-Walters is big puncher at 126-I smell disaster for the Flash. Maybe I'm wrong and Donaire has a couple good performances left in him. It would be nice to see. For now, I'm going with the Ax Man.

GGG in 6 or 7. Very onesided up til then.
GGG really has it all. The nearest I can remember to his approach was Carlos Monzon. He allowed every fighter to do their thing and then did it better. GGG has more power and is quicker. The fight will end in 5.

See you again 2023 when B Hop will be still fighting and Broner is considered one of the greats.
