Alexander Povetkin vs. Carlos Takam
This is a very good heavyweight matchup of two bona fide top ten HWs coming up on Oct 24.
What's your prediction?
Here is the fight card:
BoxRec Boxing Records
Alexander Povetkin - Carlos Takam
(WBC Silver HW title - referee: Kenny Bayless judges: Mauro Di Fiore, Omar Mintun, Predrag Aleksic)
Rakhim Chakhkiev - Giacobbe Fragomeni
(European (EBU) cruiserweight title)
Arif Magomedov - Michael Zerafa
(12 round world youth title fight, undefeated young middleweights. Magomedov could be a star of the future)
Umar Salamov - Patrick Bois
(Age 20 Salamov is one of the best prospects in boxing)
Murad Khalidov vs. Vladimir Goncharov
(heavyweight Goncharov is now promoted by Andrey Rabinsky, and is still young enough to have some potential)
Eduard Troyanovsky - Jose Alfaro
Manuel Charr - Michael Grant
Sergey Ekimov - Miguel Velozo
Evgeny Smirnov - Michael Nyawade

Re: Alexander Povetkin vs. Carlos Takam
If Povetkin blasts Takam, he deserves another title shot against either the winner of Stiverne/Wilder or Wlad/Pulev.
For some reason, I feel Pulev is going to outbox Wlad. Young, mobile, graceful and doesn't look to clench.

My predictions for the 3 main fights. Decent card. Is it televised?

Re: Alexander Povetkin vs. Carlos Takam
I think povetkin will ko takam, takam is tough, strong and competent but povetkin is a level above him in my opinion, povetkin seems fairly easy to hit but his offense will have too much variety for takam and I think it will end like the povetkin charr fight(a fight where I predicted povetkin wouldnt stop charr :S)... Good fight for povetkin though, he took on charr after his loss to wladimir now takam, maybe he should go after chagaev again, he already beat chagaev pretty well but now chagaev has the wba belt again a win there would give povetkin some power in the division and must be a fairly big fight in the ussr...
Michael grant is on the under card too ! v charr, that'll be pretty entertaining I think!

Nice fight...should be fun for the viewers. Takam is underrated and if Povetkin doesn't bring his A Game he'll get beaten.

Re: Alexander Povetkin vs. Carlos Takam
I believe (I could be wrong) open scoring revealed 2 judges had Takam up and the other had Povetkin up.

Re: Alexander Povetkin vs. Carlos Takam
Down goes Takam!
I believe the judges have Povetkin up after 8. Crowd roared when the open scores were announced.

Re: Alexander Povetkin vs. Carlos Takam
Takam out cold in the 10th :o

Re: Alexander Povetkin vs. Carlos Takam
Good shot from Povi ....that's a quality win for him right there as Takam is no slouch. Hopefully, HOPEFULLY we see Povetkin-Jennings as I think that would be a brilliant stylistic matchup.

Re: Alexander Povetkin vs. Carlos Takam
read the rbr elsewhere and sounds like it was a hell of a fight. I was hoping it wouldnt start till 4 pm or so, that way I could dip out of work early and catch it, but started at like 2 or something here, will have to find a copy online. I'd still like to see povetkin get another go at wladdy with a ref that doesn't allow all the hugging. Wlad still beats him but I think it would make for a fun fight and povetkin is literally the only guy that kept trying and didn't just taste the power once and go into a shell.

Re: Alexander Povetkin vs. Carlos Takam
Povetkin can't win against Wlad like that... jmo...

Re: Alexander Povetkin vs. Carlos Takam
If anyone cares the full fight is on you tube, good fun fight with a very nice finish. I didnt score the fight but feel like povetkin was up, which on the rbr seemingly most everyone had takam up slightly...i think povetkin beats wilder/stiverne

povetkin wilder would be interesting, wilder is taller and povetkin does seem to be able to be hit pretty easily sometimes, if wilder really is as powerful as he looks so far he could ko povetkin early i think.. Povetkin is very good though(in my opinion) and will be hard for anyone to beat.
I'd also like to see povetkin v wladimir again but with a much stricter ref, I think povetkin made wladimir very uncomfortable.
I hope povetkin keeps up with fighting these non crap contenders although I am guessing he will go for a rematach with chagaev now that ortiz is out. I'd like to see a huck povetkin rematch too, that was a fun fight

Re: Alexander Povetkin vs. Carlos Takam
That was a fun fight, Povetkin might well be the 2nd best HW in the world still imo. It's a shame that Wlad got away with the crap he did in their fight, I'd still be interested to see what a boxing match between the two of them would have looked like.
Would be nice to see anyone moving towards a shot at Wlad fight Povetkin first though in any case. Wilder/Stiverne winner, Jennings, Fury, etc. I wonder if Povetkin would present enough of a payday for them to risk it though. Maybe if some Russian magnate bought the rights again:p

Re: Alexander Povetkin vs. Carlos Takam
Great win for Povetkin :D competitive fight until that brilliant left hook ended things ;D

Re: Alexander Povetkin vs. Carlos Takam
Just shows you how good Wlad is. Povetkin is the second best heavyweight.
