Bruno - Best fighter over 6 rounds in history lb4lb
everyone has their bogey man, obviously brunos was tyson, clearly a level below bruno but just had that step on him

Re: Bruno - Best fighter over 6 rounds in history lb4lb
I think Buterbean was king of 4 rounders and could lose the next two to get a decision over big Frank.

Frank Bruno
Wasn't even the best 6-Round fighter in his own hometown.
He was a stiff and over-tightened clubbing fighter.
Much like Cleveland 'Big Cat' Williams.

Take away brunos bogey man fights and say all his other fights were stopped at 6 rounds what would his record be?

Re: Bruno - Best fighter over 6 rounds in history lb4lb
Lennox was 3-3 with Bruno.
Was Witherspoon winning at 6 rounds?

Bruno was 5-1 against Lewis and that's being kind to Lewis
Bruno was winning against Witherspoon all the way , only the last 2 or 3 where Tim was winning rounds
So yeah he's have been unbeaten
Lb4lb best in history of all time over 6

It would be a solid case if he did not have the gaping big whole in his case called Mike Tyson.

Re: Bruno - Best fighter over 6 rounds in history lb4lb
Opponents knew Bruno would run out of gas after 6 rounds. So they fought accordingly... waiting it out. They knew it wasn't a 40-meter dash, but a 400-meter race instead. Were they racing 40 meters, they would race differently. So it's unrealistic to claim Bruno was the best over 6 rounds.
Besides, it's like saying "she was the nicest girl at the prom".
;)
-
Re: Bruno - Best fighter over 6 rounds in history lb4lb
Well I respect what you are saying yes, but fights at a good level are never based on 6 rounds so it is redundant.
I do believe he was too budybuildery (excuse the made up word) to ever be a great champion.
Too big and stiff and muscle tight, the same type of shit the Schwarzenegger had and he had to get stunt doubles just to run for him in films.
He wasn't agile in the least and that may have been his downfall.

Lewis said he'd knock him out in 3, put everything into it, was out boxed and lost all 3

I never said he wasn't the best, you said there was plenty of evidence so I asked for it, looking forward to a good indepth analysis of some of Bruno's fights, which I admit I haven't seen.
If you can still give a good account of why you believe your claim to be true then I look forward to reading it.

Re: Bruno - Best fighter over 6 rounds in history lb4lb
R u guys nuts?
You can say likewise about most of James Toney 's opponents that
they are
1) best fighters over 6 rounds in history lb4lb
2) were schooling him til round 6
But then he would win / ko / school most of them

Re: Bruno - Best fighter over 6 rounds in history lb4lb
So what's the point in all this?
Should he be enshrined in some sort of obscure "6-Rounds Out of 10 or 12" Hall of Fame?
Probably not a bad idea. Carrying it further, we should probably recognize those baseball teams (I know you don't do baseball) that score the most runs through the 1st inning..... through the 2nd.... through the 3rd.....
Perhaps we should research which was the greatest racehorse over 2 furlongs... or 3 furlongs.

Good point
My lads Under 7 football team never conceded a goal in the first 5 minutes, they should be compared to the great Brazil team of 1970 and Frank Bruno
All hail Bruno

"They put me in with James 'Bonecrusher' Smith. I felt like I was carrying
all of Great Britain on my back."
"I was supposed to win, and knockout the American in spectacular fashion.
He only had 13-Bouts, and was a late-bloomer {Age; 28 years 7 months}."

that he only went 6-Rounds once and 8-Rounds once. So I figured that

Re: Bruno - Best fighter over 6 rounds in history lb4lb
"Frank Bruno Flops, Stopped By 'Bonecrusher' Smith"
The highly-touted 21 year-old Black Brit {actually Age; 22 years, 6 months}
was stunned in the 10th Round by American James 'Bonecrusher' Smith.
Well ahead on Points, Bruno failed to protect himself after getting tagged by
a hard-punch from Smith, who was desperate heading into the Final Round.
Bruno showed his inexperience, as he did not cover up properly, and did
not know how to clinch as the American tee'd off on him. Smith bombarded
the Brit with bombs, dropping him in a heap into the Ropes enroute to scoring
an exciting come-from-behind Knockout victory.
Frank Bruno >
"I feel shame."
