What do they do with Joshua now?
What do they do with him?
Sprott is past it but I'd expect him to be durable and tough enough to take any pro a few rounds at least.
He needs a massive step up now because last night did nothing but add a few seconds to his 37 minute career.
Next should be a fighter like David Price, Alex Leapai or Kevin Johnson who seems to be the most likely.
Now he will walk through Johnson 100%. Period!
I've watch Kev Johnson 3 times which more than how many punches I've seen him throw.
Where does he go after he beats Johnson?
-
Re: What do they do with Joshua now?
I dunno on this one
How soon do you look at putting him in with Price, Chisora, Fury etc ??
I'd say another year but at same time will that just see him fighting guys he'll blow away in 1-2 rounds.
Tough one

Re: What do they do with Joshua now?
It may sound daft but even Johnson could be a risk.
If Johnson can fiddle his way in to the later rounds, maybe Joshua tires? Although I doubt its going to be a tough pace. Johnson did stop leapei so can hurt people.
It really is shit or bust. Hes in the same position Price was in. Prices competition in his last couple of bouts before he faced Thompson was regressing because they didnt want to risk a jump in class until he had rounds. In the end they bit the bullet but aimed to high.
-
Re: What do they do with Joshua now?
Joshua is a much better athlete than Price. In fact he looks much better full stop.
A boring fighter like Johnson next will actually be interesting.
-
Re: What do they do with Joshua now?
They might have to do like Foreman did. Although foreman looked shit and got hurt quite bad by one of the fighters, when he fought 5 men in one night.
-
Re: What do they do with Joshua now?
Theres plenty out there for him.
Joseph Parkers recent opponents would be ideal. Brian Minto, Sherman williams.
-
Re: What do they do with Joshua now?
Joshua looked good I like him, I hope they don't push him to soon he's got age and time
on his side. I can't see David Price going in with him as it would be the end of Price.
-
Re: What do they do with Joshua now?
Joshua needs to find a durable hard seasoned club fighter that will guarantee him going 10 rounds.

Re: What do they do with Joshua now?
Johnson is decent choice.
Price, a big hitting chinny (ear-y) fighter is not the kind of fighter he needs to be facing at the moment.
Eddie Chambers after Johnson?

When will eddie chambers sort out his physique..what a mess.

Re: What do they do with Joshua now?
Just needs specifics. Southpaw or a solid jab or a taller, longer guy or fast starter or spoiler etc....
A guy to give him rounds would be an appropriate start. Someone you know went be intimidated by his power.
-
Re: What do they do with Joshua now?
Sprott has been stopped early a couple of times recently
That's was always gonna happen
What ever sprott had had completely gone a few fights ago
-
Why not audley.?
The fight would be free and this could be his big comeback..

Why not Audrey ? Would be the best fighter he's faced so far
It's looking like Kevin Johnson

Re: What do they do with Joshua now?
After Johnson, he'll fight Chisora after Fury's beat him. Chisora will give him 5 or 6 rounds, then Hearn has got a soft spot for the Price fight. ( he actually thinks that's a "Stadium PPV fight!") the Price fight will be 3-4 rounds max. Then , depending on how slowly things are happening for Fury, it'll be him in yet another final eliminator , to fight either Wlad or Wilder for the title. Simples! ;D

Re: What do they do with Joshua now?
Makes me sick when people say things like this heavy could be the next big thing and then I look them up on boxrec and see they've gone 8 rounds or something with Sprott.
I would of been really disappointed if it had gone more than 2 rounds so really pleased he cleaned him out fast!
Bring on Sam Sexton for 2-4 rounds of intense fighting I say
-
Re: What do they do with Joshua now?
He has a perfect opponent in Johnson coming up. He has a concrete chin and has never been knocked out even against the heavy hitters. After that he should fight Chisora.

Chisora already!?
Joshua MIGHT really be the next big thing.

I think he should go for Thompson, then have easier fights against Chis/Pikey to get some good money in before a title challenge. Kingpin would be a good lead in to a thompson fight, having done them both he has to take no shit from Warren or fat mick about purse sizes etc. he's the natural challenger. He'd be a mug to fight price, let price do the Chis/pikey standard boxers.

It maybe a first but I agree with ross , Johnson if nothing else has a good chin , so the type of fighter Joshua is he will have to work hard for the stoppage. If he blasts him out then great , but I think he would at least get 6-7 rounds , then lets see if he is a Bruno and has stamina problems.
Price is to big a puncher to risk , and if Joshua blasts him out then everyone will comment on Prices chin , Johnson is not a top fighter but he will at least take Joshua some rounds and we can see how he goes from there.

Re: What do they do with Joshua now?
If they want Joshua to go some rounds Audley is the obvious choice. I'd love to see it just to see Audley's face on the ringwalk.
-
Re: What do they do with Joshua now?
Johnson isn't a bad choice if that's what happens. It's almost certainly just a sparring session, but there aren't many guys likely to give Joshua rounds or let him work on anything without being a massive step up entirely I guess.
Assuming it goes well for Joshua, guys Helenius or Ustinov would make sense next imo. Risky but I think Joshua beats both pretty handily.

Yeah, cos he gave Deontay Wilder lots of rounds didn't he?

Kirkland was being sarcastic. Audley has been knocked out early by any decent fighter.

Fair enough. Perhaps I take things too seriously . Anyway, he should've put the  in for dumbasses like me.;D

Re: What do they do with Joshua now?
Like my friend in Dallas Curtis Cokes once said of Ike Ibeabuchi when he was knocking all his early opponents out. "we wont know if we've really got a champion till someone puts one on Ike's whiskers, if he can take it like he dishes it out we got a champion". Ike could take it & was headed for title shot till he called that lying hooker. A great career derailed

Re: What do they do with Joshua now?
Is it a good idea to jump from fighting people who havent been able to get past 4 rounds to fighting someone who is regularly taking the best in the world 12?
Edit, sorry 3 rounds!
-
Re: What do they do with Joshua now?
Fast tracking fighters seems to be the in thing to do, let Joshua learn his trade what's the rush
he looks the real deal up to now,! give him time to mature.

I think Audley gives Joshua a tough fight. It could be a close one on the cards.
EDIT: Bugger, somebody noticed.

Re: What do they do with Joshua now?
Joshua should just keep fighting at this stage. He is clearly not a bottom 40 fighter. And while he may be able to handle a top 20 guy, we have to remember that he is young and he can do with a little more technical training just to be true to the sport and do himself justice as a real quality fighter.
By next year, end of next year, Joshua should be ranked in the top 20. Maybe even the top 15 even without fighting top tier guys.
-
Re: What do they do with Joshua now?
After Johnson he should aim high. Adamek, Scott or Charr would all be decent and no doubt hed make mince meat of them, Christian Hammer is another he would beat very easily and has a high ranking. Id target them. No point of him fighting guys hes gonna blast un one or two rounds.

Re: What do they do with Joshua now?
Just watched an interview with Sprott and although he got stopped early, he didnt seem that amazed by Joshuas power. When asked about it he said "its nothing like corrie Sanders type power, that is just inhuman";D

He overwhelmed Sprott more than hurt him. Plenty of others have hurt and dropped Sprott.
This is the danger with moving him up too quick against someone who can last 12. I think Joshua has fallen in love with his power and with a big crowd at some point he will try and open up. If he fails to stop the opponent, Johnson or whoever and there is still a good portion of the fight left, will he have anything left in the tank? His body type doesn't scream stamina.

Chisora floored Johnson, and Chisora isn't a huge hitter.
I think Joshua will stop him mid to late.

It's clear Joshua does NOT have bone-crushing Tyson, Tua, Wilder OR Sanders power. But what he has is tremendous agility and throws punches in bunches, which is odd for a heavyweight. Did you see how he riddled off a about 20 plus unanswered shots in rapid speed in under 10 seconds.
Which heavyweight does that?

That would be the concern.
Ideally he needs to just fight an iron chin with no power or work rate.
